the vehicle is moving, it indicates that
one or more wheels are punctured.
It is accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function display locating the wheel
concerned.

You must stop.
Change the damaged wheel and
have it repaired by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Maximum coolant
temperature warning
light

ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child's shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child's
thighs.
PEUGEOT recommends the use of
a booster seat which has a back, fi t-
ted with a seat belt guide at shoulder
level. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- one or more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To protect young children from the
rays of the sun, fi t side blinds on the
rear windows.
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forward facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied
by other children, cannot be used or
are absent.
Disarm the passenger air bag when
a "rear facing" child seat is installed
on the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the air bag
were to infl ate.
The incorrect installation of a child
seat in a vehicle compromises the
child's protection in the event of an
accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or
the child seat harness
keeping the
slack in relation to the child's body to
a minimum , even for short journeys.
For optimum installation of the "for-
ward facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
with the back of the vehicle's seat
and that the head restraint does not
cause any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be re-
moved, ensure that it is stored or
attached securely to prevent it from
being thrown around the vehicle in
the event of sharp braking.

ALARM
The alarm offers two types of protection.
- external; the alarm sounds if
one of the doors, the bonnet
or the tailgate is opened ,
- internal; the alarm sounds if
there is air movement in the
passenger compartment (a
broken window or movement
within the car).
The alarm also has an anti-tamper
function.
If there is an attempt to tamper with
the following equipment:
- the wires to the siren or the control unit, the siren sounds
accompanied by fl ashing of the
direction indicators.
- the battery, the siren sounds. Complete setting and
disarming of the alarm
Complete disarming of the alarm
Press the unlocking button on the
remote control.
The direction indicators fl ash for
two seconds.
The red indicator light on the switch
1
goes out.

Note: if the indicator light continues
to fl ash after de-activation of the
alarm, it is a sign that the alarm has
been triggered during your absence.
The fl ashing will stop when the igni-
tion is switched on.
When the alarm is set, if a
door, the tailgate or the bon-
net is not closed correctly, the
siren sounds for a moment. If
the vehicle is closed correctly in the
following 45 seconds, the alarm is
set. In all cases, the alarm is set after
45 seconds. Automatic setting
The alarm is set automatically 2 minutes
after the last door or the boot is closed.
To prevent the alarm being triggered
when a door or the boot is opened,
the remote control unlocking button
must be pressed again.
Locking the vehicle without
alarm
To lock the vehicle without activating
the alarm (for example when washing),
insert the key in the lock, then lock it.
Complete setting of the alarm

Switch off the ignition and get out
of the vehicle.
Lock or deadlock the vehicle.
The direction indicators light for
two seconds.
The red indicator light on the switch 1
fl ashes once a second.
5 seconds later, external protection
is set.
45 seconds later, internal protection
is set.

Note: when the alarm is triggered,
the siren sounds for thirty seconds.
However, after the siren stops, the
alarm remains set.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the
electronic brake force distribution,
increases the stability and manoeu-
vrability of your vehicle on braking,
in particular on poor or slippery road
surfaces.

Note: when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are
approved.
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
When this warning light
comes on, accompanied by
a buzzer and a message, it
indicates that there is a mal-
function of the ABS, which can cause
a loss of control of the vehicle when
braking.
When this warning light
comes on, connected to the

STOP and ABS warning
lights, accompanied by a
buzzer and a message, it indicates
that there is a malfunction of the
electronic brake force distribution,
which can cause a loss of control of
the vehicle when braking. Stop immediately.
In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, thus reducing
the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated.
The effect of this is a reduction in the
resistance of the pedal and an in-
crease in braking effi ciency.
When braking in an emergency,
press fi rmly without releasing the
pressure.
Normal operation of the ABS
may make itself felt by slight
vibrations of the brake pedal.

In emergency braking, press
very fi rmly without releasing
the pressure.

If this warning light comes on
on the instrument panel and
the indicator light on the but-
ton comes on, this indicates
that the ASR and ESP sys-
tems are disarmed.
TRACTION CONTROL (ASR) AND DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESP)
Operation of the ASR and ESP
systems The warning light fl ashes if
the ASR or ESP is activated. Disarming
In exceptional conditions (starting a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground, ...), it may
be advisable to disarm the ASR and
ESP systems, so that the wheels can
move freely and regain grip.

 Press the "ESP OFF" button,
located in the centre of the
fascia.
Reactivation These systems are reactivated auto-
matically each time the ignition is
switched back on or from 30 mph
(50 km/h).

 Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.
Operating fault
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
multifunction display, this indi-
cates a malfunction of these
systems.
Have the systems checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The ESP/ASR systems offer excep-
tional safety in normal driving, but
this should not encourage the driver
to take extra risks or drive at high
speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation of
the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and operation
procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Activation of the ASR and ESP
systems
When the ignition is on, the ASR and
ESP systems are always active.
These systems are linked and com-
plement the ABS.
The ASR system optimises drive to
prevent the wheels skidding, by act-
ing on the brakes of the drive wheels
and on the engine. It also allows the
directional stability of the vehicle to
be improved on acceleration.
If there is a variation between the tra-
jectory followed by the vehicle and
that required by the driver, the ESP
system automatically acts on the
engine and the brake of one or more
wheels, in order to put the vehicle
back on course, within the limits of
the laws of physics.
