Normal driving
Two driving modes are offered:
- sequential mode for manual
changing of the gears by the
driver,
- automatic mode for automatic

Central STOP
warning light
This comes on for a few
seconds each time the
ignition is switched on.
Linked to the warning lights:
- ''engine oil pressure and tempera- ture'',
- "punctured wheel",
- "maximum coolant temperature",
- " h a n d b r a k e ' ' , ' ' l o w b r a k e fl u i d level'', and ''electronic brake
force distribution''.

This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning
light.
If this warning light comes on, with
the engine running, it indicates one
of the following:
- i n s u f fi c i e n t o i l p r e s s u r e ,
- a lack of oil in the lubrication circuit. Top up the level,
- an oil temperature which is too high. The warning light is accom-
panied by an audible signal. To
lower the oil temperature, reduce
your speed.

S e r v i c e w a r n i n g l i g h t
This comes on for a few se-
conds each time the ignition
is switched on.
If this warning light comes on, with the en-
gine running, accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multifunc-
tion display, it indicates the occurrence of
a problem in one of the systems which
d o e s n o t h a v e a s p e c i fi c w a r n i n g l i g h t .
Consult the message on the multi-
function display to identify the system
concerned.
Check:
- the remote control battery,
- the pressure of the tyres,
- the engine oil level,
- the screenwash level,
- the condition of the bulbs.
For all other cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
The lighting of this warning light may
also indicate the start of saturation of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r ( D i e s e l ) ,
due to exceptionally prolonged urban
driving conditions: low speed, long
t r a f fi c j a m s , . . .
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r , y o u
are advised to drive, as soon as traf-
fi c c o n d i t i o n s p e r m i t , a t a s p e e d o f
35 mph (60 km/h) or more for at least
fi v e m i n u t e s ( u n t i l t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t
switches off).
If the warning light remains on, contact
a PEUGEOT dealer.

warning light
This comes on for a few
seconds each time the ignition
is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning
light.
If this warning light comes on while
the vehicle is moving, it indicates that
one or more wheels are punctured.
It is accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function display locating the wheel
concerned.

This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.

If this warning light comes on, with
the engine running, it indicates an
abnormal increase in the tempera-
ture of the coolant.

light
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
If the warning light remains on or
comes on above 8 mph (12 km/h),
this indicates an ABS malfunction. E l e c t r o n i c s t a b i l i t y

A S R ) w a r n i n g l i g h t
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
While the engine is running and the
v e h i c l e i s m o v i n g , i t fl a s h e s i f t h e
system is activated.
It comes on permanently when it is
disarmed.
B a t t e r y c h a r g e w a r n i n g
light
This comes on for a few
seconds each time the ignition is
switched on.
If it comes on, with the engine running,
it indicates one of the following:
- faulty operation of the charging circuit,
- slack battery or starter terminals,
- a cut or slack alternator belt,
- an alternator failure.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

This comes on for a few sec-
onds each time the ignition is
switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning
light.
If this warning light comes on, with
the engine running, it indicates one
of the following:
- that the handbrake is applied or not fully released, if the vehicle is
moving,
- a n e x c e s s i v e d r o p i n b r a k e fl u i d level (if the warning light remains
on even when the handbrake is
released),
- a fault in the Electronic Brake Force Distribution.
Y o u m u s t s t o p .
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer. However, the vehicle retains conven-
tional servo-assisted braking.
Lighting of this warning light, accom-
panied by an audible signal, indicates
an ABS fault.

L o w f u e l l e v e l w a r n i n g
light
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
W h e n t h i s l i g h t fi r s t c o m e s o n , y o u
have enough fuel to drive approxi-
m a t e l y 3 0 m i l e s ( 5 0 k m ) (The tank
capacity is approximately 40 litres).
W a t e r i n d i e s e l f i l t e r
i n d i c a t o r
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
If it comes on, with the engine run-
ning, this indicates that there is a risk
o f d a m a g e t o t h e i n j e c t i o n s y s t e m .
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.
D i e s e l e n g i n e p r e - h e a t
warning light
Wait until the warning light goes out
before starting the engine.
If the temperature is high enough,
the warning light comes on for less
than one second. You can start the
engine without waiting. P a s s e n g e r a i r b a g
d i s a r m e d w a r n i n g l i g h t
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
If the passenger air bag is disarmed,
the warning light remains on.
Always consult a PEUGEOT dealer if
t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s .
S e a t b e l t n o t f a s t e n e d
warning light
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning light comes
on if the driver (and/or a passenger)
has not fastened his seat belt.
Above 12 mph (20 km/h), this warning
l i g h t fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s a c c o m -
panied by an audible signal which
becomes progressively louder. Once
the two minutes have elapsed, the
warning light remains on until the driver
(and/or passenger) fastens his seat
belt.

p a s s e n g e r s f a s t e n a n d u s e t h e
s e a t b e l t s c o r r e c t l y . Door open warning
light
This comes on if a door, the bonnet
or the boot is still open.
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), this warning
light is accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function display.

l i g h t ( " 2 T r o n i c " g e a r b o x )
When this warning light comes on,
you must put your foot on the brake
(example: when starting the engine).
If you do not put your foot on the

This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
With the engine running, illumination
of this warning light, accompanied
by an audible signal, indicates a fault
in the front, steering column, side or
curtain air bags.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
E m i s s i o n c o n t r o l
s y s t e m w a r n i n g l i g h t
This comes on each time the ignition
is switched on and remains on until
the engine is started.
If it comes on, with the engine run-
ning, it indicates a malfunction of the
emission control system.

L a c k o f o i l
If "OIL" fl a s h e s a n d t h e s e r v i c e w a r n -
ing light comes on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction display, this indicates
a lack of oil which could damage the
engine.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a
check using the dipstick, it is essential
that the level is topped up.
E n g i n e o i l l e v e l i n d i c a t o r
When the ignition is switched on, the
engine oil level is indicated for approxi-
mately 5 seconds after the service indi-
cator display.
O i l l e v e l g a u g e f a u l t
Check the oil level using the dipstick.
If "OIL --" fl a s h e s , t h i s i n d i c a t e s a
malfunction of the engine oil level
gauge.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY
After switching on the ignition, three
functions are shown in succession:
- service indicator,
- engine oil level indicator
- total distance recorder (total and trip distances).
The level read on the dipstick
will only be correct if the
vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off
for more than 15 minutes.
O i l l e v e l c o r r e c t
N o t e : the trip distance is displayed
for thirty seconds, when the ignition is
switched off, on opening and closing
the driver's door as well as on locking
the vehicle.
It also displays the "2 Tronic" gear-
box positions and operating modes
selected, as well as the information
relating to the cruise control or speed
limiter when one of these functions is
active.

VENTILATION
1. Windscreen de-icing or
demisting vent.
2. Side window de-icing or
demisting vents.
3. Side vents.
4. Central vents.
5. Air outlets to the front footwells.
6. Air outlets to the rear footwells.
7. Temperature sensor. Recommendations for use
If the interior temperature remains
very high following a long period
parked in the sun, do not hesitate to
ventilate the passenger compartment
for a few minutes.
For an even air distribution, make
sure that you do not block the out-
side air inlet grille, the vents and the
air outlets to the footwells.
In certain cases of particularly arduous
use (towing the maximum load on a
steep gradient in a high temperature),
cutting off the air conditioning permits
recovery of the engine power and
therefore improvement of the towing
capacity.
Ensure that the passenger compart-
m e n t fi l t e r , l o c a t e d u n d e r n e a t h t h e
windscreen, in the engine compart-
ment, is in good condition. Have the
fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r
to the chapter "Checks - § Checks").
If you drive in a dusty environment,
change them twice as often. We recommend the use of a com-
b i n e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r . B y
m e a n s o f i t s s e c o n d s p e c i a l a c t i v e fi l t e r ,
i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n o f t h e a i r
breathed by the occupants and to the
cleanness of the passenger compart-
ment (reduction of allergic symptoms,
unpleasant odours and oily deposits).
Operate the air conditioning system
for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a
month, to keep it in perfect working
order.
To guarantee correct operation of
your air conditioning system, we also
recommend that you have it checked
regularly.
The condensation created by the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g r e s u l t s i n a fl o w o f w a t e r
underneath the vehicle when stationary
which is perfectly normal.
If the system does not produce cold air,
do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Do not cover the temperature sen-
sor
7 , it is used for regulation of the
air conditioning.
The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger
to the ozone layer.

Turn the control from blue
(cold) to red (hot) to adjust
the temperature to your
requirements.
HEATING/VENTILATION
The heating and ventilation can only
operate when the engine is running.

To maintain a certain level of comfort
in the passenger compartment, avoid
position 0 as much as possible.
However, in position 0 , a s l i g h t fl o w
of air, due to the movement of the
vehicle, can still be felt.
