CHECKING THE LEVELS
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top up
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 l per 600 miles
(1000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
engine cold, using the dipstick.There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = maximum
If you fill past this
mark, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
B = minimum
Never allow the level
to fall below this
mark.

Oil change
According to the information given in
the servicing booklet.
Changing the brake fluid
The brake fluid must be changed at
the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.
Use fluids recommended by the
manufacturer, which fulfil DOT4
standards.
Windscreen wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you
use products recommended by your
manufacturer.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must
meet the manufacturer's require-
ments.
Cooling system Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.
Brake fluid is harmful to health and
very corrosive.
To maintain the reliability of
engines and emission control
systems, the use of additives
in engine oil is prohibited. Slacken the cap by 1/4 of a
turn to release the pressure
to prevent any risk of scald-
ing. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level. Only use the fluid recom-
mended by the manufac-
turer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously
damaging your engine.
When the engine is warm, the tem-
perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can
operate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work. Do not dispose of used oil,
brake fluid or coolant into
drains or into the ground.
Empty the used oil into the
containers provided for this purpose
in the PEUGEOT network.

CHECKSOil filter
Change the filter regularly, in accord-
ance with the servicing schedule.Only use products recom-
mended by PEUGEOT or
products of equivalent qual-
ity and characteristics.
In order to optimise the oper-
ation of units as important as the
braking circuit, PEUGEOT selects
and offers very specific products.
In order to avoid damaging the elec-
trical units, high pressure washing
of the engine compartment is strictly
prohibited .
To check the main levels and certain
components, in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule,
refer to the pages of the servicing
booklet which correspond to your
vehicle's engine.Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter
Have the filter elements replaced
regularly.
If you drive in dusty con-
ditions, change them twice as
often.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
Disc and drum wear status
For any information relating to disc
and drum surface wear, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Manual gearbox
Have the level checked in accord-
ance with the manufacturer's servic-
ing schedule.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
(DIESEL)
It may be necessary to check
the thickness of the pads,
even between services. If the engine stops, it is pos-
sible to restart it to drive a
short distance by operating
the pump at least 10 times.
If you run out of fuel, the circuit must
be reprimed:
- fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual repriming pump at least 10 times.
This is located under the protective
cover which must first be unclipped
and then removed,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
Notes: if the engine does not
start after approximately 15
seconds of attempts, oper-
ate the repriming pump again
approximately fifteen times before try-
ing again.
If the emission control warning light has
come on, it will only switch off after your
vehicle has been used several times.Handbrake
Where the handbrake travel is too
great or there is a reduction in the
performance of the system, the
handbrake should be adjusted, even
between services.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

CHANGING A WHEEL
Parking the vehicle
 As far as possible, immobilise
the vehicle on level, stable, non-
slippery ground.
 Apply the handbrake, switch
off the ignition and engage first
gear, reverse or position N for the
"2 Tronic" gearbox. Tools
The following tools are installed in a
carrier, located in the centre of the
spare wheel:
1.
Wheelbrace
2. Jack with handle
3. Removable towing eye Removing the wheel

Remove the trim.
 Release the wheel bolts using the
wheelbrace 1.
Access to the spare wheel and
the jack in the boot
 Remove the carpet then the plas-
tic cover using the handle. Tyre pressure
This is indicated on the label posi-
tioned on the interior pillar of the left
door, see "Identification".

Refitting the wheel
 Position the wheel.
 Screw in the bolts fully by hand.
Never go underneath a vehi-
cle supported only by a jack
(use an axle stand).
After changing a wheel:
- have the tightening of the bolts and the pressure of the spare wheel
checked as soon as possible,
- have the punctured wheel repaired and refit it on the vehicle as soon
as possible.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Place the jack 2 in contact with one
of the four locations A provided on
the underframe, the one closest to
the wheel to be changed.
 Extend the jack 2 until its base is
in contact with the ground. Ensure
that the centreline of the jack base
is directly below the location A
used.
 Lift the vehicle.
 Remove the bolts and detach the
wheel.
 Pre-tighten* using the wheel-
brace 1. 
Fold the jack 2 and detach it.
 Tighten the wheel bolts using the
wheelbrace 1.
 Refit the trim.
 Store the tools and the wheel in
the boot.
* If your vehicle is fitted with alloy wheels, when tighteni ng the bolts it is normal to notice that the washers do not come into
contact with the spare wheel. It is fixed securely.

CHANGING A BULB
Front lights
1. Side lights

Turn the bulb holder A one quar-
ter of a turn and remove it.
 Remove the bulb and change it. 3. Dipped headlamps /
Main beam headlamps
(H4 - 60/55W)
 Disconnect the connector.
 Remove the rubber C.
 Push the tab D on the side.
 Remove the bulb holder and
change the bulb.
 Refit the bulb holder, the tab then
the rubber.
If you encounter any difficulties, con-
tact a PEUGEOT dealer.
2. Direction indicators (PY 21 W amber)
 Turn the bulb holder B one quar-
ter of a turn and remove it.

Turn the bulb one quarter of a turn. Remove the bulb and change it.
If you encounter any difficulties, con- tact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Note:
in certain climatic con-
ditions (low temperatures,
humidity), the presence
of condensation on the
internal face of the headlamps is
normal ; it disappears a few minutes
after the lights are switched on.

Rear lights
1. Brake / side lights (P 21/5 W)

Fog lamp (P 21 W),
right-hand side These 3 bulbs are changed by remov-
ing the light:

open the boot,
 unscrew the two light fixing
nuts A,
 remove the light unit by pulling
outwards, 
unclip the harness,
 remove the bulb holder moving
aside the four tabs B,
 remove the bulb and change it.
Note: when refitting, proceed in the
reverse order and take care to posi-
tion the bulb holder, the tabs and the
light correctly.

Third brake light
(Four W 5 W bulbs)
 Unscrew the 2 fixing bolts A.
 Release the lamp unit by pushing
the two tabs B inwards.
 Disconnect the connector and the
rear wash-wipe pipe.
 Remove the bulb holder.
 Remove the bulb and change it.
When refitting, proceed in the reverse
order and ensure that the lamp unit
seal and the rear wash-wipe pipe
have been put back in place cor-
rectly.
Number plate lights (W 5 W)
 Pass your hand under the
bumper.
 Remove the bulb holder turning it
one quarter of a turn.
 Remove the bulb and change it.
Direction indicator side
repeaters (WY 5 W amber)
 Push the repeater forwards or
rearwards and detach it by pulling
towards you.
 Disconnect the bulb holder and
change it.
Do not tighten the bolts more
than is necessary at the risk
of breaking the light.

CHANGING A FUSE
The fuse boxes are located under the
instrument panel trim and next to the
battery in the engine compartment.Correct
Removing and fitting a fuse
Before changing a fuse, the cause of
the incident must be found and recti-
fied.
 Use the pliers A located in the
fuse box under the bonnet. Incorrect

Instrument panel fuse boxes
These are located on each side of
the instrument panel under the trim.
 Turn the steering wheel to the left,
remove bolt B.
 Turn the steering wheel to the right
(do not forget to release the steer-
ing wheel using the key), remove
bolt C.
Always replace a faulty fuse
with a fuse of the same rat-
ing (same colour).

Engine compartment fuse box
 Unclip the cover, pressing on the
right on lug E, to gain access to
the fuses. Your vehicle's electrical cir-
cuit is designed to operate
with standard or optional
equipment.
Before installing other electrical
equipment or accessories on your
vehicle, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Some electrical accessories or the
way in which they are fitted may have
an adverse effect on the operation of
your vehicle (audio circuit, control cir-
cuit and electrical charging circuit).
PEUGEOT will not accept any
responsibility for the costs incurred in
repairing your vehicle or for the mal-
functions resulting from the installa-
tion of auxiliary accessories which
were not supplied or recommended
by PEUGEOT and which were not
installed in accordance with its
instructions, in particular in the case
of any equipment the consumption of
which exceeds 10 milliamps.
The pliers
A and the replacement
fuses B are fixed at the front of the
box.
When you have finished, close the
cover very carefully.
