CHECKS
CHECKS Oil filter
Change the fi lter regularly, in accor-
dance with the servicing schedule. Only use products recom-
mended by PEUGEOT or
products of equivalent qual-
ity and specifi cation.
In order to optimise the operation
of units as important as the brak-
ing system, PEUGEOT selects and
offers specifi c products.
In order to avoid damaging the
electrical units, high pressure washing
to clean the engine compartment is
strictly prohibited.
To check the main levels and certain
components, in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule,
refer to the pages of the Maintenance
and Warranty Guide which correspond
to your vehicle's engine.
Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter

Have the fi lter elements replaced regularly.

If you drive in dusty conditions, change
them twice as often.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
Disc and drum wear
For any information relating to disc
and drum surface wear, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer. Manual gearbox
Have the level checked in accor dance
with the manufacturer's servicing
schedule.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
It may be necessary to check
the thickness of the pads,
even between services.
If the engine stops, it is
possible to restart it to drive
a short distance by operating
the priming pump at least
10 times.
If you run out of fuel, the circuit must
be reprimed:
- fi ll the fuel tank with at least fi ve litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual priming pump at least 10 times.
This is located under the
protective cover which must fi rst
be unclipped and then removed,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.

Notes: if the engine does
not start after approxima tely
15 seconds, operate the priming
pump again approximately
fi fteen times before trying again.
If the emission control warning lamp has
come on, it will only switch off after your
vehicle has been used several times. Parking brake
Where the parking brake travel is
too great or there is a reduction in
the performance of the system, the
parking brake should be adjusted,
even between services.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
TOWING YOUR VEHICLE

Your vehicle can only be towed at
the front. Lifting
(2 wheels only on the road)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle by
the wheels.

Never use the radiator crossmember.

When your vehicle is being
towed with the engine switched
off, there is no braking or
steering assistance.
Without lifting
(4 wheels on the road)
You should always use a towing bar.
The removable towing eye is stored
in the spare wheel, under the boot
carpet.

 press the lower part of the cover
in order to take hold of the upper
part,

 pull the cover to unclip it,

 screw in the towing eye fully.
Place the gear lever in posi-
tion N for the "2 Tronic" gear-
box.
FITTING ROOF BARS
When fi tting transverse roof bars,
use the accessories recommended
by PEUGEOT and follow the manu-
facturer's fi tting instructions.
For further information, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Please refer to national legis-
lation in order to comply with
the regulations concerning
the transportation of objects
which are longer than the
vehicle.
Towing with fours wheels on the
road must be carried out at very low
speed over a very short distance (in
accordance with the legislation in
force).
In all other cases, your vehicle must
be transported on a trailer.
Vehicles fitted with a manual
gearbox (diesel version)
In the case of vehicles fi tted with a
manual gearbox, the gear lever must
be in the neutral position.
Failure to observe this special condi-
tion may result in damage to certain
braking components and the absence
of braking assistance the next time
the engine is started.
Maximum weight authorised on
the bars, for a loading height not
exceeding 40 cm (except bicycle
carrier): 50 kg.

If the height exceeds 40 cm,
adapt the speed of the vehicle to
the profi le of the road to avoid
damaging the roof bars.
