effective, observe the
following safety rules:

carried out by qualiied personnel
of the PEUGEOT network.
• After an accident or if the vehicle has been stolen or broken
into, have the air bag systems
checked. Front air bags

cause burns or the risk of injury
from a cigarette or pipe.

In the
"OFF" position, the passenger
air bag will not be triggered in the
event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON"
position to re-activate the air bag
and thus ensure the safety of your
passenger in the event of an impact.SIDE AIRBAGS *
These are incorporated into the
frame of the front seat back, on the
door side.
They are deployed independently
of each other depending on which
side the collision occurs, in collisions
which could cause injury to the chest,
the abdomen or the head.
This is conirmed by an indicator light
on the instrument panel.
It comes on for six seconds, each
time the ignition is switched on.
With the ignition on (2nd
notch), illumination of this
warning light accompanied
by a message on the
multifunction display, indicates that
the passenger air bag is disarmed
(switch in the "OFF" position).
If the two air bag warning
lights are lit continuously,
do not install a rear-facing
child seat. Contact a
PEUGEOT dealer. Operating check
* According to destination.
If the indicator light:
- does not light up when the ignition
is switched on, or
- does not go out after six seconds, or
- lashes for ive minutes then stays on,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Disarming check

SEAT BELTS
To lock the seat belts
Pull the strap, then insert the buckle
into the stalk. Pre-tensioning and force-limiting
front seat belts
Safety in the event of a frontal
impact has been improved by
the introduction of pre-tensioning
and force-limiting front seat belts.
Depending on the seriousness of the
impact, the pre-tensioning system
instantly tightens the seat belts irmly
against the body of the occupant.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
The force-limiting device reduces the
pressure of the seat belt against the
occupant's body in the event of an
accident.
Rear seat belts
The rear seats are itted with two
three-point inertia reel seat belts.

Wherever you are seated in
the vehicle, always fasten
your seat belt, even for short
journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
they will not fulil their role fully.
If the seats have armrests*, the lap
part of the seat belt must always
pass under the armrest.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is rolled up correctly.
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the body as possible,
- must restrain one adult only,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- must not be twisted,
- must not be transformed or modiied.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by PEUGEOT dealers. After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and rolled up correctly.
Recommendations for child seats:
- use a suitable child seat if the
passenger is less than 12 years old
or shorter than one metre ifty,
- do not use the strap-guide* when a child seat is installed.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of the impacts ,
the pre-tensioning device may be
triggered before and independently
of the air bags.
In all cases, the air bag warning light
comes on.
Following an impact, have the
seat belts system checked, and if
necessary replaced, by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
* According to model.

The alarm*
Setting and deactivating the
alarm system
Switching off the siren.
The alarm completes the security
equipment for your vehicle. It offers
two types of protection.
- external protection: when it is
set, the alarm sounds if one of the
doors, the boot lid or the bonnet
is opened;
- internal protection: when it
is set, the alarm sounds if the
sensors detect air movement in
the passenger compartment (a
broken window) or movement
within the car.
Note: the internal protection does
not operate when the vehicle roof is
open or is not closed properly (e.g.
catches unlocked).
The alarm also has an anti-tamper
function.
If there is an attempt to tamper with
the wires to the siren, control unit or
the battery, the siren sounds and the
direction indicators light. Setting the alarm

is set.
45 seconds later, external protection
is set.
Note:
when the alarm is triggered,
the siren sounds for thirty seconds.
After the thirty seconds it stops, but
the alarm remains set.
Warning
When the alarm is triggered, if a
door, the boot lid, roof or bonnet
is not closed correctly, the siren
sounds for a moment. If the vehicle
is closed correctly in the following
45 seconds, the alarm is activated

on for two seconds. In all cases, the
alarm is activated after 45 seconds.
