AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING
Automatic operation
1. Temperature adjustment The chosen temperature is displayed. Press the up and
down arrows to change it. Asetting around 21 ¡C enablesa comfortable temperature tobe obtained. 2. Automatic comfort programme
Press the "AUTO" button.The system automaticallyadjusts the atmosphere insi-de the vehicle in accordancewith the chosen temperature.
To do this, it controls the temperature,
the flow, the distribution and the intakeof air as well as the air conditioning. 3. Automatic visibility programme
In some cases, the automa-tic comfort programme may
not be sufficient for de-icingor demisting of the windows
(humidity, several passen-
gers, ice etc.). In this case, select theautomatic visibility programme to
clear the windows quickly.

5. Air distribution
Pressing this button seve- ral times in successionenables the air flow to bedirected in turn towards:
Ð the windscreen (de-icing or demisting),
Ð the windscreen and the footwells,
Ð the footwells,
Ð the centre and side vents and the footwells,
Ð the centre and side vents.
7. Air intake Press this button for recir-
culation of the interior air.Recirculation, shown on
the display, enables the
passenger compartment to be insu-lated from exterior odours andsmoke.
Avoid prolonged recirculation of
interior air. To do this, press the but-ton again to resume intake of exte-
rior air.
4. Air conditioning
Press this button to switch
off the air conditioning. Thesymbol "ECO" is displayed.Automatic operation of the
air conditioning is resumed when the
button is pressed again. The symbol"A/C" is displayed. 8. Switching the system off
The "OFF" button enablesthe entire system to be
switched off.
9. Demisting the rear screen Press this button to demistthe rear screen and themirrors. Demisting switches
off automatically. It is pos-
sible to stop operation of the demis-
ting before it is switched off automa-tically by pressing the button again. Important precaution Operate the air conditioning for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a month,
to keep it in good working order. If the system does not produce cold
air, do not use it and contact your
PEUGEOT dealer. Note: to optimise the operation of
the air conditioning, leave the vents open.
Manual operation
If you wish, you can make a different
choice from that offered by the sys-
tem by changing a setting. The otherfunctions will still be controlled auto-
matically. Pressing the "AUTO" but-ton returns the system to completelyautomatic operation.
6. Air flowThe flow of air can beincreased or reducedby pressing buttons
+ or - respectively.
Note It is quite normal that the condensa- tion created by the air conditioningresults in a flow of water under the
vehicle when it is stationary.

Changing the battery of the remote control
Warning that the battery is flat is given by an audible signal accompa-nied by the message ''Remote
control battery low'' on the multi-
function display.
To replace the battery, remove the screw then unclip the casing using acoin at the ring (CR 2016/3 volt bat-tery). If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed,reprogramme the remote control.
THE KEYS The keys allow you to switch on the ignition and operate the passengerair bag disarming switch and the fuelfiller cap, as well as independentlyoperate the locks on the front doors. Central locking The keys allow you to lock or unlock the doors and tailgate from the frontdoors. If one of the doors, the tailgate (206 SW) or the rear screen (206 SW) isopen, the central locking does notwork. The remote control This performs the same functions as
the key, at a distance. LockingPress button
Ato lock the vehicle.
This is confirmed by fixed lighting ofthe direction indicators for approxi-mately two seconds. Unlocking Press button Bto unlock the vehicle.
This is confirmed by the rapid flashing of the direction indicators.

unlock the vehicle and open the rear screen. Note: If the vehicle is locked and
unlocking is activated inadvertently, unless the doors are opened within30 seconds, the vehicle will lockautomatically (206 SW).
Avoid pressing the buttons of your remote control out of range of your
vehicle. You risk causing it not towork and the remote control wouldthen have to be reprogrammed. Locating your car
To locate your car in a car park, if you have locked it: 
press button A, the courtesy
lights come on and the direction indicators flash for a fewseconds.
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the dri-
ver's door, if the key has been left inthe ignition.
Programming the remote control  Switch off the ignition.
 Switch the ignition on again.
 Press button A.
 Switch off the ignition and remo- ve the remote control key from
the ignition lock. The remotecontrol is now working again.

your PEUGEOT dealer can rapidlysupply you with new keys.The high frequency remote control isa high-performance system whichhas a powerful beam.Do not operate it while it is in yourpocket as there is a possibility that itmay unlock your vehicle, without youbeing aware of it.The remote control does not operatewhen the key is in the ignition, evenwhen the ignition is switched off,except for reprogramming.As a safety precaution (with childrenon board), remove the ignition keywhen you leave the vehicle, even fora short time.Do not repeatedly press the buttonof your remote control out of range of
your vehicle. You risk causing it notto work and the remote control wouldhave to be reprogrammed. When purchasing a second-hand vehicle:
- ensure that you are given the confidential card;
- have the key codes memorised by a PEUGEOT dealer, to ensure thatthe keys in your possession arethe only ones which can start thevehicle.
Do not make any modifications tothe electronic engine immobilisersystem.
CONFIDENTIAL CARD The confidential card contains the identification code necessary for anywork carried out by a PEUGEOT
dealer on the system. This code ishidden by a film which should be
removed only if necessary. Keep your card in a safe place, never inside the vehicle.
ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBILISER This locks the engine maoagement system as soon as the ignition has
been switched off and therefore pre-vents starting of the vehicle by anyo-
ne who does not have the key. The ignition key has an electronic chip which has a special code.When the ignition is switched on, thecode is recognised and starting ispossible. If the system does not function correctly , you are warned by an
audible signal and a message on the
multi-function display. In this case, the vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.

TAILGATE RELEASE (saloon) This enables the tailgate to be unlocked in the event of a centrallocking fault.
Ð Fold back the rear seats to gain access to the boot from inside the vehicle,
Ð Pull the tailgate trim to release it,
Ð Pull the opening catch 1upwards.
SUNROOF (saloon)
To open Press part Bof the switch. The sun-
roof will open in the intermediate
(comfort) position. To open comple-
tely, press part Bagain.
To close Press part Aof the switch. The sun-
roof will close in the intermediate
(comfort) position. To close comple-
tely, press part Aagain.
Panoramic sunroof screen
To move it to your chosen position, press part Aor Bof the switch.
The lighting is activated on ope- ning the tailgate or the rearscreen. Notes: the tailgate and the rear
screen lock automatically while dri- ving (from 10 km/h) and unlockwhen one of the doors is opened. When the rear windscreen wiper is in a wiping position, the rear screencan only be opned at the end of thecycle. Close the rear screen using the windscreen wiper arm or by pres-sing the centre of the glass.
"Tailgate/rear screen open" warning
With the engine running , if the tail-
gate or the rear screen is not pro- perly closed, you are warned by anaudible signal and a message
"Tailgate open" or a diagram on the
multi-function display. In addition, while driving , if the
courtesy light button is in the "ligh- ting on opening the tailgate or rearscreen" position, the courtesy lightflashes.

AUTOMATIC SWITCHING ON OF LIGHTS Side lights and dipped beam head- lamps switch on automatically if the
light is poor.
They switch off when the light becomes bright enough. Note: In foggy weather or in snow
the brightness sensor can detect
sufficient light. As a result, the lights
will not come on automatically. This function is active when the
vehicle is supplied to the customer.
To disarm or activate the function:
- Start with the key in the accesso-
ries position (1st notch),
- Press the end of the lights stalk for more than four seconds.
Note: after the ignition is switched
off and depending on the brightness, the lights remain on for about 45seconds or until the vehicle is loc-ked.
Note: the brightness sensor, cou-
pled with the rain sensor, is loca-ted in the centre of the wind-
screen, behind the interior mirror.It is used for automatic switchingon of the lights. Operating check Activation Acivation of this function is accom- panied by an audible signal and themessage
"Automatic lighting acti-
ve" on the multi-function display.
Disarming Disarming of the function is accom- panied by an audible signal. Note: the function is temporarily
disarmed when the driver uses the manual lighting controls. If the brightness sensor does not function correctly , the system acti-
vates the function (the lights come
on). The driver is alerted by anaudible signal, accompanied by themessage "Automatic switching on
of lights faulty" on the multi-func-
tion display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.

Automatic timed windscreen wipers In the AUTOposition, the wind-
screen wipers operate automatically and adapt their speed to the inten-
sity of the rainfall. Operating checkActivation When the function is activated, the message "Automatic windscreen
wiping active" appears on the mul-
tifunction display. In the event of malfunction, the
driver is informed by an audible signal and the message "Auto
windscreen wiper faulty" on the
multifunction display. In the event of malfunction in the
AUTO position, the windscreen
wiper will operate in intermittent mode.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.
When using an automa- tic car wash, switch offthe ignition or check thatthe wiper stalk is not in
the automatic position.
In winter, it is advisable to waitfor the windscreen to completelyclear of ice before operating theautomatic wipe.Rear screen wiper
Turn ring Ato the first
notch for intermittent wiping.
Rear screen wash Turn ring Apast the first
notch; the screen washthen the wiper operate fora fixed period.

TRIP COMPUTER Pressing the button on the end of the wiper stalk enables the following data to be displayed:
Display B
- the range,
- the distance travelled,
- the average consumption,
- the current consumption,
- the average speed. Zero reset Press the stalk for more than two seconds. Display C
- the current consumption and the range,
- the average consumption, the distance travelled and the
average speed calculated over a period "1",
- the average consumption, the distance travelled and the average speed calculated over a period "2".
Periods "1"and "2"are defined by the frequency of the
zero reset. They allow, for instance, daily calculations over period "1"and monthly calculations over period "2".
Zero reset When the required period is displayed, press the stalk for more than two seconds.
