AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING
Automatic operation
2. Automatic comfort programPress the AUTO button. The
system automatically adjusts
the atmosphere inside the
vehicle in accordance with
the value that you have chosen. To
do this, it controls the temperature,
the low, the distribution and the
intake of air as well as the air con-
ditioning. 3. Automatic visibility program
Manual operation
If you wish, you can make a different
choice from that offered by the sys-
tem by changing a setting. The other
functions will still be controlled auto-
matically. Pressing the
AUTO button
returns the system to completely au-
tomatic operation.
1. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the
display corresponds to a
level of comfort and not to a
temperature in degrees Cel-
sius or Fahrenheit.
Press the arrows 1 (up and down) to
change this value. A setting around
21° enables a comfortable tempera-
ture to be obtained.

In some cases, the automa-
tic comfort program may not
be suficient for de-icing or
demisting of the windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice
etc.). Select this program to clear the
windows quickly.
To exit this program and return to the
automatic comfort program, press
the AUTO button.

4. Air conditioningPress this button to stop air
cooling. The symbol ECO is
displayed. Automatic opera-
tion of the air conditioning is
resumed when the button is pressed
again. The symbol A/C is displayed.
Note
It is quite normal that the condensa-
tion created by the air conditioning
results in a low of water under the
vehicle when it is stationary.
To prevent condensation on the
inside of the vehicle in cold or wet
weather, you are advised to avoid
using the ECO mode.
5. Air distribution Pressing this button several
times in succession enables
the air low to be directed in
turn towards:
- the windscreen (de-icing or demis- ting),
- the windscreen and the footwells,
- the footwells,
- the centre and side vents and the footwells,
- the centre and side vents. 6. Air low
The low of air can be
increased or reduced
by pressing buttons +
or - respectively.
7. Air intake 8. Switching the system off
The OFF button switches
off all the functions of the
system.
Temperature-related com-
fort and demisting are no longer
guaranteed but a slight low of air is
maintained.
Pressing the OFF, AUTO , or vis-
ibility button again reactivates the
system with the values set before it
was switched off.
Note: if you wish to cut off the low
of air completely, press the air intake
button 7.
9. Demisting the rear screen and the mirrors
Press this button to demist
the rear screen and the mir-
rors. Demisting switches off
automatically. It is possible
to stop operation of the demisting
before it is switched off automatically
by pressing the button again.
Important precaution
Operate the air conditioning for 5 to
10 minutes, once or twice a month, to
keep it in good working order.
If the system does not produce cold
air, do not use it and contact your
PEUGEOT dealer.
Press this button for recir-
culation of the interior air.
Recirculation, shown on the
display, enables the pas-
senger compartment to be insulated
from exterior odours and smoke.
Avoid prolonged recirculation of inte-
rior air. To do this, press the button
again to resume automatic manage-
ment of the intake of air.
Note: To prevent condensation on
the inside of the vehicle in cold or wet
weather, you are advised to avoid us-
ing this mode.

FRONT SEATS
1 - Forwards-backwards adjustment
Lift the control and slide the seat to-
wards the front or the rear.
2 - Head restraint height and angle adjustment
(except 206 RC)
To raise the restraint, pull it up-
wards.
The adjustment is correct when
the upper edge of the head re-
straint is level with the top of the
head.
The head restraint has a frame with
notches, which prevent the head re-
straint dropping down (this is a safety
device in the event of an impact).
To lower the head restraint, it is nec-
essary to push simultaneously:
- the button located on the left guide at the base of the head restraint,
- the head restraint downwards.
To remove the head restraint, press
the lug.
The angle of the head restraint can
also be adjusted. 4 - Seat height adjustment
Pull the handle upwards.
Remove your weight from the seat to
raise, or press on the seat to lower.
5 - Seat back angle adjustment
Push one of the two handles towards
the rear.
6 - Heated seats switch
Press the switch. The temperature is
controlled automatically.
Press the switch again to stop opera-
tion.
Never drive with the head
restraints removed; they
must be in place and cor-
rectly adjusted. Rear head restraints
These have a high position for when
they are in use and a low position
for when they are stored. They are
removable.
To lower the head restraints, press
the lug.
To remove them, pull upwards as far
as the stop, then press the release
control.
3 - Access to rear seats
(3 door), A or B according to
version
A - Pull one of the two handles and
push forwards to fold the seat back
and move the seat forwards.
On repositioning, the seat returns to
its initial position.
No
person nor object must prevent
the seat from returning to its initial
position; returning to this position is
necessary for it to be locked.
It is impossible to access the rear
seats if the front seat is in the reclining
position.
B - Pull one of the two handles and
push forwards to fold the seat back.
On repositioning, the seat back re-
turns to its initial position.

- position the seat belt under the belt holder 2,
- pull control 3 to unlock the seat
back 4,
- remove or lower the head restraint,
- tilt the seat back 4.
Always start with the seat, never
the seat back (risk of damage).
REAR SEATS
To fold the rear seats:
- lift the front of the seat cushion 1,
- tilt the seat cushion 1 against the
front seats, When repositioning:
- return the seat back to the upright
position,
- fold back the seat cushion,
- reposition the lap belt and the buckles before locking the front of
the seat cushion.
Take care not to trap the seat
belts.

OBJECTS
Front seat:
- Tilt the seat back towards the front using the control 5 (see corres-
ponding paragraph).
Rear seat:
- Remove the seat cushion,
- Tilt the seat back.
Removing the rear seat
- Tilt the seat cushion against the front seats.
- Squeeze the seat fasteners to re- lease them from their attachments.
- Remove the seat cushion.
Folding seat back
- Remove the head restraint for com- plete folding of the seat back.
- Push either of the two handles 5 to-
wards the rear to tilt the seat back.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also de-
pends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- Since 1992, all children under the
age of 10 must travel in appro-
ved child seats* suited to their
weight , on seats itted with a seat
belt or ISOFIX mountings.
- A child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the rearwards fa-
cing position both in the front
and in the rear. PEUGEOT re-
commends that children should
travel in the "rearwards facing"
position up to the age of two.
- Statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transpor-
tation of children are the rear
seats. PEUGEOT recommends
that children travel in the rear
even when a "rearwards facing"
child seat is used. - If a child is travelling on a booster
seat, check that the lap section of
the seat belt passes over the child's
thighs correctly. The chest section
of the seat belt must be positioned
on the child's shoulder without tou-
ching the neck. PEUGEOT recom-
mends that you use a booster seat
with a back, itted with a seat belt
guide at shoulder level.
- Remember to fasten the seat belt or the child seat harness keeping
the slack in relation to the child's
body to a minimum , even for short
journeys.

Special points relating to the
transportation of children on the
front passenger seat*
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the forwards facing position,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children or the rear
seats cannot be used (absent or
folded). In this case, adjust the front
passenger seat to the intermediate
longitudinal position and leave the
passenger air bag armed.
The transportation of children in the
rearwards facing position is permit-
ted. In this position, it is essential to
disarm the passenger air bag. Other-
wise, the child would risk being killed
or seriously injured if the air bag were
to inlate.
* According to current legislation in the country.

"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS*
The front passenger seat*, the right
side and left side* seats of the rear
seat (saloon and 206 SW) and the
one third section of the rear seat
(206 RC) are itted with ISOFIX
mountings . These are two rings
located between the seat back and
the seat cushion.
The ISOFIX child seats are itted
with two locks which are secured
easily on these rings.
Installing a child seat in a vehicle
incorrectly compromises the protec-
tion of the child in the event of an
impact.
This ISOFIX system guarantees reli-
able, safe and fast itting of the child
seat in your vehicle. The ISOFIX child seat approved
for PEUGEOT vehicles and sold
by PEUGEOT dealers is the
Isoix
KIDDY ** child seat. It can be itted
in the "rear facing" position from birth
to 13 kg and in the "forwards facing"
position from 9 to 18 kg.
Installation of the Isoix KIDDY
child seat
- In the "rear facing" position:
• in the front passenger seat, the
vehicle seat must be moved as
far forward as possible so that
the body of the Isoix KIDDY
seat is in contact with or as
close as possible to the fascia.
• in the rear, the body of the Isoix
KIDDY seat must be in contact
with the seat back of the corres-
ponding front seat. - In the "forwards facing" position:
• in the rear, it is imperative that
the front seat is in the mid-way
longitudinal position, with the
seat back upright.
In the 206 RC, the Isoix KIDDY seat
must only be used in the sitting posi-
tion. Refer to the child seat's installa-
tion guide for this setting.
The Isoix KIDDY child seat can also
be used on seats not itted with ISO-
FIX mountings. In this case it is com-
pulsory to attach it to the vehicle's
seat by means of the three-point
seat belt.
Follow the instructions for itting
the child seat in the seat manufac-
turer's instruction booklet.
