Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations

coolant

The temperature of the
cooling system is too high. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Wait until the engine has cooled down before
topping up the level, if necessary.
If the problem persists, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Engine oil
pressure fi x e d . There is a fault with the
engine lubrication system. Stop as soon it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Battery
charge fi x e d . The battery charging circuit
has a fault (dirty or loose
terminals, slack or cut
alternator belt, ...). This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.
If it does not switch off, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Door(s) open fi x e d i f t h e
speed is
below 6 mph (10 km/h).
A door, the boot or the rear
screen is still open. Close the door or boot.

These operate with the dipped and main
beam headlamps.
To switch on the foglamps, turn ring C
forwards.
When the lights are switched off au-
t o m a t i c a l l y ( o n A U T O m o d e l ) , t h e f o g
lamps and the dipped headlamps will
remain on.
To switch off all of the lighting turn
ring C rearwards.
To switch on the foglamps, turn ring C
forwards.
To switch off the rear foglamps, turn
ring C rearwards twice in succession.
When the lighting is switched off au-
t o m a t i c a l l y ( o n A U T O m o d e l ) o r w h e n
the dipped headlamps are switched off
manually, the foglamps and the side-
lamps will remain on.
Turn the ring rearwards to switch
off the foglamps, the sidelamps will
then switch off. In good weather or in rain, both day
and night, the front foglamps and
the rear foglamps are prohibited.
In these situations, the intensity of
their beams may dazzle other drivers.
Do not forget to switch off the front
foglamps and the rear foglamps
when they are no longer necessary.
Lighting on reminder
The triggering of an audible signal
when a front door is opened warns
the driver that they have forgotten
to switch off the vehicle's lighting,
with the ignition off.
In this case, switching off the ligh-
ting will stop the audible signal.
When the ignition is switched off, if
the dipped headlamps remain on,
they will be switched off automati-
cally after thirty minutes to prevent
discharging of the battery.

Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on
the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on the dashboard.
Smoke as little as possible as deployment of the airbags can cau se burns or the
risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags *
O n l y p u t a p p r o v e d c o v e r s o n t h e s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r t h e i n fl a t i o n o f t h e
lateral airbags. Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e s e a t b a c k s . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e

Do not sit with the upper part of the body any nea rer to the door than necessary.
Curtain airbags *

Do not remove the grab handles installed on the ro of, they play a part in securing the
curtain airbags.

For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the following
safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the airbags or injure the
occupants.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e P E U G E O T
dealer network.
Even if all of the precautions men-
tioned above are observed, a risk of
injury or of slight burns to the head,
chest or arms when an airbag is trig-
gered cannot be ruled out. In fact, the
b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y ( w i t h i n a
f e w m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n
the same time discharging hot gas via
the openings provided for this pur-
pose.

BATTERY
Procedure for charging your battery

using another battery.
Access to the battery Starting using another battery
Connect the red cable to the posi-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,

the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative terminal
( - ) o f t h e s l a v e b a t t e r y B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to an earth point C on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ( f o r e x a m -
p l e , r i g h t - h a n d e n g i n e m o u n t i n g ) .
Operate the starter, let the engine run.
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
The battery is located under the bonnet
on the left.
T o g a i n a c c e s s t o i t :
open the bonnet using the interior
r e l e a s e l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r s a f e -
ty catch,
secure the bonnet stay,
remove the plastic cover to gain ac-
cess to the two terminals.

Do not disconnect the terminals
while the engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries without
d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e t e r m i n a l s fi r s t .
Do not push the vehicle to start the
e n g i n e i f i t i s fi t t e d w i t h a " 2 T r o n i c "
g e a r b o x .
The batteries contain harmful sub-
stances such as sulphuric acid and
lead. They must be disposed of in
accordance with regulations and
must not, in any circumstances, be
discarded with household waste.
Take used remote control batteries
and vehicle batteries to a special
collection point.
Charging the battery using a
battery charger
Disconnect the battery from the
vehicle.
Follow the instructions for use pro-
vided by the manufacturer of the
charger.
Reconnect starting with the nega-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( - ) .
Check that the terminals and connec-
tors are clean. If they are covered with
s u l p h a t e ( w h i t i s h o r g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) ,
remove them and clean them.
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is to be left un-
used for more than one month. Before disconnecting the
battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off
the ignition before disconnecting
the battery.
Close the windows and the doors
before disconnecting the battery.
Following reconnection of the
battery
Following reconnection of the bat-
tery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to permit ini-
tialisation of the electronic systems.
H o w e v e r , i f s l i g h t d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e n -
countered following this operation,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Position the open clip 1 of the cable

Press vertically on the clip 1 to posi-
tion it correctly against the battery.
Lock the clip by lowering the tab 2 .
Do not force the tab as locking will not
be possible if the clip is not positioned
correctly; start the procedure again.
Raise the locking tab fully.
