PRACTICAL INFORMATION

TOWING A TRAILER, A
CARAVAN, ETC.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
may also be used for towing a trailer. Driving with a trailer subjects the towing
vehicle to more signifi cant stress and its
driver must be particularly careful.
The maximum towing load on a long
slope depends on the gradient and the
ambient temperature.
Distribution of loads

 Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest items are as close
as possible to the axle and the nose
weight approaches the maximum
permitted without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towing load
must be reduced by 10 % and so on for
every 1 000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical Data" section for
details of the weights and towing loads
which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind

 Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind.
 If the warning lamp and the

STOP warning lamp come
on, stop the vehicle and
switch off the engine as
soon as possible.
Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
distance.
Tyres

 Check the tyre pressures of the towing
vehicle and of the trailer, observing the
recommended pressures.
The rear parking sensors will be
deactivated automatically if a gen-
uine PEUGEOT towbar is used.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
Towbar suitable for the attachment of a
trailer or caravan with additional lighting
and signalling.
We recommend the use of genuine
PEUGEOT towbars and their har-
nesses that have been tested and
approved from the design stage
of your vehicle, and that the fi t-
ting of the towbar is entrusted to a
PEUGEOT dealer.
If the trailer is not fi tted by a
PEUGEOT dealer, it is imperative
that it is fi tted using the electrical
pre-equipment installed at the rear
of the vehicle, in accordance with
the manufacturer's instructions. Driving advice
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.

 To lower the engine speed, reduce
your speed. Lighting

 Check the electrical lighting and sig-
nalling on the trailer.

The fi tting of electrical equipment
or accessories which are not rec-
ommended by PEUGEOT may
result in a failure of your vehicle's
electronic system.
Please note this specifi c warning.
You are advised to contact a rep-
resentative of the Marque to be
shown the range of recommended
equipment and accessories.
ACCESSORIES
You can obtain a wide range of ac-
cessories and original parts from the

tested and approved for reliability and
safety.
They are all adapted to your vehicle and
benefi t from PEUGEOT's recommenda-
tion and warranty.
The product range offered by

* To prevent any risk of jamming the pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned and secured correctly,
- never fi t one mat on top of another. Depending on the country in which
the vehicle is sold, it is compulso-
ry to have a high visibility jacket,
warning triangle and spare bulbs
available in the vehicle.
** Precautions relating to the bicycle carrier on towbar:
- observe the manufacturer's recom- mendations for fi tting and use,
- refer to the "Technical data - § Weights and towed loads" section
for information regarding the recom-
mended nose weight.

The GTW and towed load values indicated apply up to a maximum altitude of 1 000 metres; the towed load mentioned must
be reduced by 10 % for every additional 1 000 metres.
The speed of a towing vehicle must not exceed 60 mph (100 k m/h) (comply with the legislation in force in your country).
High ambient temperatures may result in a reductio n in the performance of the vehicle to protect the engine; when the ambient
temperature is higher than 37 °C, limit the towed w eight.
* The weight of the braked trailer can be incre
ased, within the GTW limit, on condition that the G VW of the towing vehicle is reduced
by the same amount; warning: towing with a lightly loaded towing vehicle may have an adverse effect on its road holding.

IDENTIFICATION MARKINGS
Various visible markings for the identifi -
cation of your vehicle. Wheels which are fi tted with 205/45
R17 tyres cannot be fi tted with
snow chains. For more information,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
If the infl ation pressures are too low,
this increases fuel consumption.
The infl ation pressures must be
checked when the tyres are cold,
at least once a month.

A. Vehicle identifi cation (VIN) number
under the bonnet.
This number is etched on the bodywork
near the passenger compartment fi lter.
B. Visible VIN on the dashboard.
This number is indicated on a self-ad-
hesive label which is visible through the
windscreen.
C. VIN on the chassis.
This number is indicated on a self-de-
stroying label affi xed to the centre pillar,
near the driver’s door striker.

D. Manufacturer’s label.
This label is affi xed to the edge of the
door on the driver’s side.
It bears the following information:
- the wheel rim and tyre sizes,
- the brands of tyre recommended by the manufacturer,
- the associated infl ation pressures,
- the paint colour code.
