CHECKING LEVELS
Check all of these levels regularly and
top them up if necessary, unless other-
wise indicated.
I f a l e v e l d r o p s s i g n i fi c a n t l y , h a v e t h e
corresponding circuit checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Brake fluid level
In addition, as the cooling system is
pressurised, wait at least one hour after
switching off the engine before carrying
out any work.
To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrew
the cap by two turns to allow the pres-
sure to drop. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level.
Oil level The reading will only be correct
if the vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off for
more than 15 minutes.
The check is carried out either when the
ignition is switched on using the oil level
indicator on the instrument panel, or using
the dipstick.
Between two oil changes, the consumption
should not exceed 0.5 litre per 600 miles
(1,000 km). T h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l s h o u l d b e
close to the "MAX" mark. If it is
not, check the brake pad wear.
Draining the circuit
Refer to the servicing booklet for details
of the interval for this operation.
Power steering fluid level T h e p o w e r s t e e r i n g fl u i d l e v e l
should be close to the "MAX"
mark. Unscrew the cap, with the
engine cold, to check the level. Screenwash and headlamp
wash fluid
I n t h e c a s e o f v e h i c l e s fi t t e d
with headlamp washers, the
m i n i m u m l e v e l o f t h i s fl u i d i s
indicated by an audible signal
and a message on the multi-
function display.
Top up the level when you stop the vehicle.
Draining the engine
Refer to the servicing booklet for details
of the interval for this operation.
In order to maintain the reliability of the
engine and emission control system,
the use of additives in the engine oil is
prohibited.

The oil must correspond to your engi-
neand conform to the manufacturer's

changed.

For optimum cleaning and to avoid
f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d m u s t n o t b e t o p p e d
up or replaced with water.
Coolant level
The coolant level should be
close to the "MAX" mark but
should never exceed it.
When the engine is warm, the temperature
of the coolant is regulated by the fan. This
can operate with the ignition off.

A low additive level is indicated by lighting
of the service warning lamp, accompanied
by an audible warning and a message on
the multifunction screen.

B a t t e r y
The battery does not require any
maintenance.

particularly in summer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery, re-
fer to the "Practical information" section for
details of the precautions to be taken before
disconnecting the battery and following its
reconnection.
Air filter
Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment
(e.g. dusty atmosphere) and the use of
the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace
t h e m t w i c e a s o f t e n i f n e c e s s a r y (refer
to the "Engines" paragraph). Particle emission filter (Diesel)
It is imperative that the maintenance of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r i s c a r r i e d o u t
by a PEUGEOT dealer.

(activated carbon)

the ventilation and air conditioning.

may reduce the performance of the air

In order to optimise the operation of
units as important as the braking sys-
tem, PEUGEOT selects and offers
v e r y s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compartment is
strictly prohibited .
Brake disc wear status
Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
that the brake pads are worn.

checking the brake disc wear
status, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Manual gearbox
The gearbox does not re-
quire any maintenance (no oil

TEMPORARY TYRE REPAIR KIT
Complete system consisting of a com-
pressor and a bottle of sealant which per-
mits temporary repair of the tyre so that
you can drive to the nearest garage.
The kit is located in the boot under the
fl o o r . I t i s i n s t a l l e d i n t h e t o o l b o x , l o c a t e d
u n d e r t h e s t o r a g e b o x .
A l l o f t h e s e t o o l s a r e s p e c i fi c t o y o u r
vehicle. Do not use them for other
purposes.
1. Bottle.
Contains a sealant for temporary repair of the tyre.
2. 12 V compressor.
Permits adjustment of the pres- sure of the tyre.
3.
Two chocks to immobilise the vehicle.
4. Wheelbrace * .
Permits removal of the wheel trim a n d r e m o v a l o f t h e w h e e l fi x i n g
bolts.
5. Jack * with integrated handle.
Permits lifting of the vehicle.

Using the kit
Switch off the ignition.
Tick the wheel to be repaired on the
speed limitation sticker enclosed
t h e n a f fi x t h e s t i c k e r t o t h e v e h i c l e ' s
steering wheel to remind you that a
wheel is in temporary use.
Place the two chocks under the
wheels to immobilise your vehicle.
Clip the bottle 1 on the compressor 2 .
Check that the switch A is tilted to
position "0" .
Connect the pipe of the bottle 1 to
the valve of the tyre to be repaired.
Unwind the pipe of the compressor 2
f u l l y , t h e n c o n n e c t i t t o t h e b o t t l e .
C o n n e c t t h e c o m p r e s s o r ' s e l e c t r i c
p l u g t o t h e v e h i c l e ' s 1 2 V s o c k e t .
Start the vehicle and leave the en-
gine running. This repair kit is available from
P E U G E O T d e a l e r s .
I t i s d e s i g n e d t o r e p a i r h o l e s
o f a m a x i m u m d i a m e t e r o f 6 m m , l o -
c a t e d e x c l u s i v e l y o n t h e t y r e t r e a d o r
shoulder. Avoid removing any foreign
bodies which have penetrated the
tyre.

puncture.
Stop to check the repair and the
pressure.
Connect the compressor pipe di-
rectly to the valve of the repaired
wheel.
Switch on the compressor by tilting
the switch A to position "1" until the
tyre pressure reaches 2.0 bars. I f t h i s p r e s s u r e h a s n o t b e e n
r e a c h e d a f t e r a p p r o x i m a t e -
l y fi v e t o t e n m i n u t e s , t h e
tyre cannot be repaired; contact a
P E U G E O T d e a l e r t o h a v e y o u r v e h i -
