6. Demisting the rear screen and the mirrors
Pressing the button once
demists the rear screen
and the exterior mirrors.
This switches off automatically
to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
Pressing again reactivates demisting.
It is possible to stop demisting before
it is switched off automatically by
pressing the button again. In certain cases of particu-
larly arduous use (towing
the maximum load on a
steep gradient in high tem-
peratures), switching off the
air conditioning permits the recovery
of engine power and therefore an in-
crease in the towing capacity.
In order for the air conditioning to be
fully effective, the windows must be
closed.
The air conditioning system does not
contain chlorine and does not present
any danger to the ozone layer.
Operate the air conditioning system
for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a
month, to keep it in perfect working
order.
The water produced by the air con-
ditioning condensation is discharged
through an opening provided for this
purpose. Therefore, a puddle of wa-
ter may form underneath the vehicle
when stationary.
In order to ensure that the air con-
ditioning system operates correctly,
regular checks are also recom-
mended.
If the system does not produce
cold air, do not use it and contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
5. Air intake/Air recirculation
Pressing button 5 permits
recirculation of the interior
air. This is indicated by
illumination of the indicator
light.
As soon as possible, press button 5
again to permit the intake of outside
air, to prevent deterioration of the air
quality and to avoid misting of the
windows. This is indicated by the
switching off of the indicator light.
The interior air recirculation enables you
to isolate the passenger compartment
from exterior odours and smoke.
The outside air intake enables you to
prevent and eliminate misting of the
windscreen and side windows.
Used simultaneously with the air
conditioning, air recirculation enables
performance to be improved.
Used in a humid climate, air recirculation
may result in misting of the windows.
Rapid demisting of the
windscreen
To quickly de-ice or demist the
windscreen and side windows:
- place the air distribution control in the "windscreen and side windows"
position,
- place the temperature 2 and air
low 3 controls at maximum, as
indicated by the "Windscreen
and side windows" symbol on the
control panel,
- close the centre vents,
- switch air intake button 5 to the
"Outside Air Intake" position (button
5 indicator light off),
- start the air conditioning by pressing button 1.

DUAL ZONE AUTOMATIC AIR
CONDITIONING
The air conditioning only operates
when the engine is running. When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
air low will reach its optimum level
gradually.
The driver and his front
passenger can each adjust
the temperature to their
requirements.
The value indicated on the
display corresponds to a level of
comfort and not to a temperature in
degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Turn control 1 or 2 to the left or to
the right respectively to decrease or
increase this value.
A setting around the value 21
provides optimum comfort. However,
depending on your requirements, a
setting between 18 and 24 is normal. For optimum comfort, you are advised
to avoid a left/right setting difference
of more than 3.
For maximum cooling or heating of the
passenger compartment, it is possible
to go below the value 15 by turning until
"LO"
is displayed or above the value
27 by turning until "HI" is displayed.
4. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort
programme may not be
suficient to quickly demist
or de-ice the windscreen
and side windows (humidity,
several passengers, ice, etc.).
In this case, select the automatic
visibility programme.
The system automatically controls
the air conditioning, the air low and
the air intake and provides optimum
distribution of the ventilation to the
windscreen and side windows.
To switch it off, press button 4 again
or press the "AUTO" button, the
button's indicator light switches off
and "AUTO" is displayed.
Automatic operation
1. Automatic comfort
programme
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is
displayed.
We recommend the use
of this mode: it permits
automatic and optimised adjustment
of all of the functions, passenger
compartment temperature, air low,
air distribution and air recirculation,
in accordance with the comfort value
that you have chosen. This system is
designed to operate effectively in all
seasons, with the windows closed. 2. Driver's side adjustment
3. Passenger side adjustment
On entering the vehicle,
if the interior temperature
is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value,
there is no need to change
the value displayed in order to obtain
the comfort required. The system
corrects the difference in temperature
automatically and as quickly as
possible.

Manual operation
If you wish, you can make a different
choice from that offered by the
system by changing a setting. The
other functions will still be controlled
automatically. Pressing the "AUTO"
button returns the system to
completely automatic operation.
Press this button to stop air
cooling.
Automatic operation of
the air conditioning is
resumed when the button
is pressed again. The symbol " A/C"
is displayed.
Avoid prolonged use of this mode (risk
of condensation, odour, humidity).
Press this button again as soon as
possible.
6. Air distribution adjustment
Pressing this button several
times in succession enables
the air low to be directed in
turn towards:
- the windscreen and side windows (de-icing or demisting),
- the windscreen, the side windows and the footwells,
- the footwells,
- the centre vents, the side vents and the footwells,
- the centre and side vents. 7. Air low adjustment
Press the
"small fan" or "large fan"
button respectively to decrease or
increase the low of air.
The air low symbol, the fan, ills
progressively in relation to the value
required.
8. Air intake/Air recirculation 9. Demisting the rear screen and
the mirrors
Press this button for
recirculation of the interior
air. The air recirculation
symbol 8 is displayed.
Air recirculation enables the
passenger compartment to be isolated
from exterior odours and smoke.
Avoid prolonged recirculation of
interior air (risk of condensation and
deterioration of the air quality).
As soon as possible, press this button
again to permit the intake of outside
air and prevent condensation.
5. Air conditioning On/Off
Press this button to demist
the rear screen and the
exterior mirrors. The button
9
indicator light comes on.
Demisting switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current. It is possible
to stop operation of the demisting
before it is switched off automatically
by pressing the button again.
10. Switching the system off
Press the "small fan" button of
the air low 7 until the fan symbol
disappears.
This action switches off all of the
functions of the air conditioning
system, with the exception of the
demisting of the rear screen 9.
Temperature related comfort is no
longer guaranteed but a slight low
of air, due to the movement of the
vehicle, can still be felt.
Pressing the "large fan" button of
the air low 7 again or the AUTO
button reactivates the system with
the values set before it was switched
off.

therefore an increase in the towing
capacity.
In order for the air conditioning to be
fully effective, the windows must be
closed.
The air conditioning system does not
contain chlorine and does not present
any danger to the ozone layer.
Operate the air conditioning for 5 to
10 minutes, once or twice a month, to
keep it in good working order.
The water produced by the air con-
ditioning condensation is discharged
through an opening provided for this
purpose. Therefore, a puddle of water
may form underneath the vehicle
when stationary.
In order to ensure that the air
conditioning system operates
correctly, regular checks are also
recommended.
