Navigator
Located on the RD4 audio equip-
ment control keypad, this enables
you to select and conirm the func-
tions, commands and parameters
displayed.
It incorporates:
- the up 5, down 6, left 7, right 8
arrows which enable you to move
the cursor on the screen,
- the central conirmation button.
All selections can be cancelled
prior to conirmation by pressing the
"ESC" button or automatically after a
few seconds without any action.
Details of each of the keypad controls
are indicated on the following pages.

General functions
On/off
Press the button to
switch the set on or off.
The RD4 audio equip-
ment can operate for
approximately 30 minutes without
the vehicle's ignition being switched
on, under normal conditions of use
and maintenance of the battery.
Adjusting the volume
Turn the button clockwise to increase
the audio equipment volume or anti-
clockwise to decrease it.
Audio settings
Press the ¯ but-
ton several times to
access the musical
ambience, automatic
volume correction,
left/right sound distribution, rear/front
sound distribution, loudness, treble
and bass setting windows.
Exit from audio mode is by pressing
the "ESC" button or is automatic after
a few seconds without pressing any
button.
The bass, treble, loudness and mu-
sical ambience settings are speciic
to each source. It is possible to set
them differently for the AM radio, FM
radio, CD, CD changer or auxiliary
equipment. Musical ambience
This function permits the selection
of a musical ambience: "None",
"Classical", "Jazz-Blues", "Pop-
Rock", "Vocal" or "Techno".
Press the
7 and 8 navigator buttons
to select the ambience required.
Adjusting the bass
When "Bass" is displayed, press
the 7 and 8 navigator buttons to
vary the setting.
- "-9" for a minimum bass setting,
- mid-way for a normal setting,
- "+9" for a maximum bass setting.
Adjusting the treble
When "Treble" is displayed, press
the 7 and 8 navigator buttons to
vary the setting.
- "-9" for a minimum treble setting,
- mid-way for a normal setting,
- "+9" for a maximum treble setting. Adjusting the loudness
The loudness automatically empha-
sises bass and treble tones.
Press the
7 and 8 navigator buttons
to switch the function on or off.
Adjusting the front/rear sound
distribution
When "Rear - Front Balance" is dis-
played, press the navigator buttons.
Button 8 increases the volume at
the front.
Button 7 increases the volume at
the rear.
Adjusting the right/left sound
distribution
When "Left - Right Balance" is dis-
played, press the navigator buttons.
Button 8 increases the volume on
the right-hand side.
Button 7 increases the volume on
the left-hand side.
Automatic volume correction
This function enables the volume to
be automatically adjusted depending
on the level of noise produced by the
speed of the vehicle.
Press the 7 and 8 navigator but-
tons to switch the function on or off.

Radio
Notes on radio reception
The quality of the audio reception is
subject to external phenomena, due
to the nature of the signals and the
way in which they are transmitted.
Both AM and FM reception are sub-
ject to various forms of interference.
This is no relection on the quality of
the equipment.
On MW/LW, interference may be
noticed when passing under high
voltage power lines or bridges, or in
tunnels.
On FM, interference may be the
result of increasing distance from
the transmitter, delection of the
signals by obstacles (mountains,
hills, buildings, etc.), or of being in
an area which is not covered by a
transmitter.Selecting radio mode
Press the "SOURCE"
button several times
until the radio source
is obtained.
Selecting a waveband Press the "BAND
AST" button briely
to select wavebands
FM1, FM2, FMast and
AM.
The stored stations for each wave-
band are displayed. Automatic station search
Briely press button 8
or 7 to search for the
station immediately
above or below.
The search stops at the irst station
found.
Searching for a station occurs irst in
"LO" sensitivity (selection of the most
powerful transmitters), then in "DX"
sensitivity (selection of the weakest
and most distant transmitters).
Manual station search Briely press button 5
or 6 to decrease or
increase the frequen-
cy displayed.
By continuing to press the button
in the direction selected, you will
obtain continuous scrolling of the
frequency.
The scrolling stops as soon as the
button is released.

Manual storing of stations in the
memory
Select the station required.
Press one of the buttons "1" to "6" for
more than one second.
The sound stops then becomes audi-
ble again, conirming that the station
has been stored in the memory.
Automatic storing of FM stations
in the memory (autostore)For greater listening
pleasure, it is prefer-
able to activate the
RDS function.
Press the "BAND AST" button for
more than one second.
Your radio automatically stores the
6 stations with the strongest signal in
FM. These stations are stored in the
FMast waveband.
If it is not possible to ind 6 stations,
the remaining memories are empty. Recalling stations stored in the
memory
For each waveband, briely press
one of the buttons "1" to "6" to select
the corresponding station.
A superimposed display listing the
stored stations appears, the station
selected being identiied.
Displaying the stations
available
You can display
the list of stations
received locally by
pressing the "LIST
REFRESH" button.
This list can include
up to 30 stations.
To update this list during your
journey, press the "LIST REFRESH"
button for more than one second.
To search for an available station:
- press the "LIST REFRESH" but- ton,
- when the list of available stations is displayed, press button 5 or 6
to select a station, then conirm the
selection using the "OK" button.
Note: stations which permit the
broadcasting of trafic information
are indicated by the display TA. Trafic information programme
(TA)
Press the "TA /PTY"
button to switch the
function on or off.
The multifunction dis-
play will show:
- TA if the function is selected, - TA crossed out if the function is
selected but not available.
Any trafic information lash will
be given priority, whatever source
you are listening to (radio, CD, CD
changer or auxiliary equipment).
If you wish to interrupt a message,
press the audio equipment "ESC"
or "TA" button to return to the
source which was in use prior to the
interruption.
Note: the trafic information volume
is independent of the normal audio
equipment volume.
You can adjust it, during the
broadcasting of a message, using
the volume dial or the steering wheel
control. The setting is stored and will
be used when the next messages
are broadcast.

Search by type of programme
(PTY)
This is a search by type of pro-
gramme, if the coding is activated by
the broadcasting stations.
It allows you to listen to stations
broadcasting a speciic type of pro-
gramme (news, culture, sport, rock,
weather, etc.)."RADIO" menu
Press the "MENU"
button to access the
general menu and
select the "Audio
functions" menu then
"FM waveband pre-
ferences" or press the
"OK" button in radio
mode to select the fol-
lowing functions:
- Activate/Deactivate frequency fol- lowing (RDS),
- Activate/Deactivate regional mode (REG),
- Activate/Deactivate displaying of the radio text (RDTXT).
Press the "TA/PTY"
button to access this
function. To search for a type of PTY
programme:
- press the "TA/PTY" but-ton,
- press button 5 or 6
to scroll down the list
of the various types of
programmes offered,
then conirm the selec-
tion using the "OK" but-
ton.
The list of stations is available after a period
during which the FM
waveband is searched.
- when the list of stations corres- ponding to the type of programme
is displayed, press button 5 or 6
to select a station, then conirm the
selection using the "OK" button.
To switch the PTY function off, select
"Deactivate PTY" from the list of the
various types of programme offered.
EON system
This system connects stations which
are part of the same network. It
enables the broadcasting of TA trafic
information by a station that is part
of the same network as the station to
which you are listening.
This service is available when you
have selected the TA trafic informa-
tion programme.

RDSRegional following mode (REG)
When they are part of a network,
certain stations broadcast regional
programmes in the various areas
which they serve. The regional
following mode enables you to
continue listening to the same
programme.
To access the function, press the
"MENU" button, select the "Audio
functions" menu then "FM waveband
preferences" or press the "OK"
button in radio mode.
The "RADIO" contextual menu ap-
pears.
Select "Activate regional mode
(REG)" or "Deactivate regional mode
(REG)" depending on the status
of the function on the multifunction
display.
The multifunction display will show:
- REG if the function is selected,
- REG crossed out if the function is
selected but not available.
Using the RDS (Radio Data
System) function on FM
The RDS allows you to continue lis-
tening to the same station whatever
frequency it is using in the region
you are going through. The display
indicates the name of the station
selected.
However, poor coverage of the
network or particular environmental
conditions may interfere with the
transmission.
The radio is continually searching for
the transmitter which is transmitting
the same programme with the best
reception.
To access the function, press the
"MENU" button, select the "Audio
functions" menu then "FM waveband
preferences" or press the "OK"
button in radio mode.
The "RADIO" contextual menu ap-
pears.
Select "Activate frequency following
(RDS)" or "Deactivate frequency
following (RDS)" depending on
the status of the function on the
multifunction display.
The multifunction display will show:
- RDS if the function is selected,
- RDS crossed out if the function is
selected but not available.

Selecting a track
Press button 8 to select the next
track.
Press button 7 to return to the start
of the current track or to select the
previous track.
You can also select a track directly
via the list of tracks on the CD:
- press the "LIST REFRESH" button to display the list,
- press button 5 or 6 to select the
track,
- press the "OK" button to play the track.
Accelerated play
Keep button 8 or 7 pressed for
forwards or backwards accelerated
play.
Accelerated play stops as soon as
the button is released. "CD" menu

- Activate/Deactivate playing of the track intros (SCAN),

A function selected from the "CD"
menu remains active when the CD
changer mode is selected.
Insert circular compact
discs only.
Some anti-pirating sys-
tems, on original discs or
CDs copied by a personal
CD writer may cause malfunctions,
irrespective of the quality of the origi-
nal player.Compact disc
The CD player, incorporated in your
audio equipment, is compatible with
displaying of the CD Text  mode.
CDs which do not use this mode
will display the number of each track
instead of the name of the artist and
the title of the song. This function is
not available with the CD changer.
With the audio equip-
ment on and after
insertion of a disc,
printed face upwards,
the CD player starts
automatically.
If a disc is already inserted, press
the "SOURCE" button to select the
CD player.

CD changer
Selecting CD changer modePress the "SOURCE"
button several times.
To access the CD
changer, you must
insert at least one CD
in the changer.
Selecting a disc
Press one of the buttons "1" to "5"
on the CD changer to select the
corresponding disc.
Buttons 5 and 6 permit the selec-
tion of the previous / next disc in the
changer.
Each time a disc is selected, a
window appears as a superimposed
display to indicate the presence of
discs in the changer cartridge:
- "Disc" if a CD is present,
- "Cannot be played" if the CD is faulty or upside down,
- Blank line if there is no CD present.
The CD Text  is not
available when playing a
CD via the changer. Selecting a track

- Activate/Deactivate random playing of the tracks (RDM).
These functions are only applied to
the tracks of the CD currently being
played.
A function selected in the "CHANGER"
menu remains active when the CD
mode is selected.

CD CHANGER
This is located in the centre of the
fascia under the radio. It holds up to
5 discs.
To load the changer, insert the discs
with the printed side upwards.To select a disc, press the corres-
ponding button
"1" to "5" briely.
Play begins automatically.
To remove a disc, press the corres-
ponding button "1" to "5" for more
than two seconds.
Insert circular compact discs
only.
Some anti-pirating systems,
on original discs or CDs
copied using a personal
recorder, may cause malfunctions,
irrespective of the quality of the
original player.
In the cabriolet position, remember to
remove the compact discs from your
changer (risk of theft).
