YOUR 307 CC AT A GLANCE
CRUISE CONTROL
The cruise control makes it pos-
sible to maintain a constant ve-
hicle speed, programmed by the
driver, irrespective of the proile
of the road and without any action
on the accelerator or the brake
pedals.
In order for the vehicle speed to
be memorised, it must be greater
than 25 mph (40 km/h) (manual
gearbox) or 37 mph (60 km/h)
(automatic gearbox), with at least
4th gear engaged (2nd gear for
the automatic gearbox).
Activation
F Place knob 1 in the ON position.
A speed can now be memorised.
F Place knob 1 in the OFF posi-
tion to deactivate the system. Recalling the memorised
speed
After deactivation, press button
4.
Your vehicle reverts to the last
memorised speed.
Do not use the cruise
control on slippery roads
or in heavy trafic.
Memorising a speed
When you reach the required
speed, press button
2 or 3. The
speed is memorised and will be
maintained automatically.
Note: it is possible to accelerate
temporarily without deactivating
the cruise control.
Deactivating the memorised
speed
If you wish to deactivate the
memorised speed:
F press button 4 or the brake or
clutch pedal. Cancelling the stored speed
F
Place knob 1 in the OFF posi-
tion or switch off the ignition.

FILLING WITH FUEL
This operation must be carried
out with the engine switched
off .
F Open the fuel iller lap.
F Insert the key then turn it to the
left.
F Remove the cap and hook it
onto the clip on the inside of
the lap.
A label on the inside of the lap
shows which type of fuel to use.
When you ill your tank, do not
continue after the third cut-off
of the pump. This could cause a
malfunction.
OPENING THE BONNET
Outside the vehicle: Lift
the catch, raise the bon-
net and secure the strut to
keep the bonnet open.
Inside the vehicle:
Push the
handle on the left-hand side, un-
der the fascia.
Low fuel level
warning light
From the time this
light comes on, you
have enough fuel remaining to
drive for approximately 30 miles
(50 km) .
The capacity of the tank is
approximately 60 litres.
F
After illing the tank, lock the
cap and close the lap.

AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
'PORSCHE TIPTRONIC
SYSTEM'
The four-speed automatic gear-
box offers a choice between the
comfort of automatic integral
regulation enhanced by a sport
and snow program , or manual
gear changing . Starting the engine
F
with the handbrake on, select
function P or N in the gate,
F turn the ignition key to the
Start position.
When the engine is idling
with the brakes not ap-
plied, if position R, D or
M is selected, the vehicle
moves without the accelerator
being pressed.
For this reason, do not leave
children unsupervised inside
the vehicle, with the en-
gine running .
Park: to immobilise the vehicle
or to start the engine, with the
handbrake on or off.
Reverse: to reverse (select this
position with the vehicle station-
ary and the engine at idle).
Neutral: to start the engine or to
park , with the handbrake on.
Drive: for automatic gear changing.
Manual: to select the gears.
S: sport program.
T: snow program.
To change the four gears manually:
F Push the lever to the + symbol
to change up a gear and pull
the lever towards the - symbol
to change down a gear.
Note: the S (sport) and
T (snow)
programs do not operate when in
manual mode.
Gear selection gate

Move the lever in the gate to
select a position.
The indicator light for the selection is displayed on the
instrument panel screen. Moving off
With the engine running, to move
off from position
P:
F It is essential to press the
brake pedal to exit position P,
F Select position R, D or M , then
gradually release the pressure
on the brake pedal; the vehicle
will move off immediately.

A permanently lit warning light or
one that lashes with the engine
running, indicates an operating
fault in the relevant unit. Some
warning lights may be linked to
buzzers and a message on the
multi-function display. Do not
ignore this warning: contact a
PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
If the Central STOP warning light
comes on when you are driving,
stop immediately where it is safe
to do so.Central STOP warning
light

This light comes on each time the
ignition is switched on.
It is linked to the "engine oil pres-
sure", ''coolant level low'', ''brake luid
level'' and "electronic brake force dis-
tribution fault'' warning lights and the
''coolant temperature'' and "engine
oil temperature" gauges.
Stop immediately if it lashes with
the engine running.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine oil pressure
warning light
Linked to the central STOP warning
light.
If it comes on with the engine run-
ning, it is accompanied by an au-
dible signal and the message
''Oil
pressure insuficient'' on the multi-
function display.
Stop immediately.
If there is a lack of oil in the lubrica-
tion circuit, top up the level.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without
delay.
Low coolant level warning
light*
Linked to the central STOP warning light.
This comes on for approximately
3 seconds each time the ignition is
switched on.
This warning light is accompanied by
an audible signal and the message "
Top up engine coolant level" on
the multi-function display.
Stop immediately. Handbrake and low brake
luid level warning light
Linked to the central STOP
warning light.
This comes on each time the
ignition is switched on.
Illumination of this light is accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multi-function display
indicating the cause of the warning:
- ''Handbrake on'', if the handbrake
is applied or has not been released
correctly,
-
''Brake luid level low'' if there is
an excessive drop in the brake luid
(if the light remains on even with
the handbrake released),
- ''Braking fault'' is displayed si-
multaneously with the ABS light,
indicating a malfunction of the elec-
tronic brake force distribution.
Stop immediately.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Warning: Allow the engine to cool
before topping up.
The cooling system is pressurised.
To prevent the risk of scalding, un-
screw the cap by two turns to allow
the pressure to drop.
Once the pressure has dropped, re-
move the cap and top up the level.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Battery charge warning
light
This comes on each time the ignition
is switched on.
If it comes on with the engine run-
ning, it is accompanied by an audi-
ble signal and a message
"Battery
charge fault" on the multi-function
display.
It can indicate:
- faulty operation of the charging cir- cuit,
- loose battery or starter terminals,
- a cut or slack alternator belt,
- an alternator fault.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
ABS warning light
This light comes on for 3 seconds
each time the ignition is switched
on.
If it remains on or comes on above
8 mph (12 kmh), this indicates a mal-
function of the ABS.
However, the vehicle retains conven-
tional servo-assisted braking.
Illumination of this light is accom-
panied by an audible signal and the
message
''ABS fault'' on the multi-
function display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Electronic stability program
(ESP/ASR) warning light
This comes on for 3 seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
If the light remains on or comes on
when the engine is running and the
vehicle is moving, it is accompanied
by an audible signal and the mes-
sage
''ESP/ASR not functioning''
on the multi-function display; contact
a PEUGEOT dealer.
When the engine is running and the
vehicle is moving, it lashes if the
system is activated.
It is lit permanently when it is dis-
armed.
Passenger air bag
disarmed warning light
Illumination of this warning light
is accompanied by the message
"Passenger air bag deactivated"
on the multi-function display.
If the passager air bag is disarmed,
the indicator light comes on when the
ignition is switched on and remains
on.
In all cases, if the warning light
lashes, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine diagnostics
warning light
This comes on each time the ignition
is switched on.
If it lashes when the engine is run-
ning, accompanied by an audible
signal and the message
''Catalytic
converter fault'' on the multi-func-
tion display, it indicates a malfunction
in the injection or ignition system.
There is a risk of damage to the cata-
lytic converter.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.

Air bags and rear,
protective, pop-up roll-over
hoops warning light

This light comes on for a few seconds
when the ignition is switched on.
Illumination of this warning light, with
the engine running, is accompanied
by an audible signal and a message
on the multi-function display:
-
"Air bag fault", indicates a fault in
the front air bags or side air bags,
-
"Roll-over hoops fault", indi-
cates a fault in the pop-up roll-over
hoops (located in the rear head re-
straints).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Seat belt not fastened
warning light
With the engine running, this indica-
tor light comes on accompanied by
an audible signal when the driver's
seat belt is not fastened. The indica-
tor light remains on and the audible
signal becomes louder if the driver
still does not fasten his seat belt.
Low fuel level warning
light
The warning light comes on for
three seconds when the ignition is
switched on.
When this light comes on with the en-
gine running, it is accompanied by an
audible signal and the message
"Fuel
level low" on the multi-function display.
When the warning light comes on,
you have enough fuel to drive approx-
imately
30 miles (50 km). The tank
capacity is approximately 60 litres.
This light lashes to indicate a mal-
function of the fuel gauge. The indica-
tor needle returns to its rest position
(below zero).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Coolant temperature indicator
When the needle is in zone A , the
temperature is correct.
When the needle is in zone
B , the
temperature is too high. The central
STOP warning light lashes, accom-
panied by an audible signal and the
message
"Engine coolant temper-
ature too high" on the multi-function
display.
You must stop immediately.
Warning
: wait for the engine to cool
before topping up the level.
The cooling system is pressurised.
In order to avoid any risk of scalding,
unscrew the cap two turns to allow
the pressure to drop.
When the pressure has dropped, re-
move the cap and top up the level.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
