"Door open" alert
If a door has not been closed properly:
- when the engine is running,
you are warned by a diagram and
a message on the multifunction
display for a few seconds,
- when the vehicle is moving
(speed above 6 mph (10 km/h)),
the service warning light comes
on. This is accompanied by an
audible signal, a diagram and a
message on the multifunction dis-
play for a few seconds. The door opening controls do not
function when the vehicle is dead-
locked.
Opening the doors from outside
When you place your hand behind
the handle, the window automatically
lowers by a few millimetres. It rises
again after a few seconds and ad-

vide perfect sealing.

Note: when the vehicle is unlocked,
if you leave your hand on the handle
for more than 5 seconds, the window
rises again. Remove your hand to re-
activate the system. Reinitialisation of the automatic
partial opening of the door
windows
Carry out this operation following re-
connection of the battery and reini-
tialisation of the electric windows
(see corresponding section):

 partially open the door,

 close the door,

 wait for a few seconds,

 place your hand behind the han-
dle, the window automatically
lowers by a few millimetres.
THE DOORS Opening the doors from inside

Before carrying out any work
which requires cutting off of
the battery, lower the windows
to make it easier to open and
close the doors.
In the event of a battery cut-off,
it is still possible to open the
doors. However, it is imperative
that the door is not slammed on
closing.
It will be necessary to reinitial-
ise the window controls and the
automatic partial opening of the
door windows.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible.

When washing your vehicle:
- do not forget to lock it to
avoid any risk of automat-
ic partial opening of the
windows,
- avoid soaking the upper
part of the windows.

When washing your vehicle
using high pressure equip-
ment, it is advisable to keep
the end of the nozzle at least
1 metre from the windows and
door seals.

ACCESS

The engine must be switched off
when i lling with fuel.

 Open the fuel i ller l ap.

 Insert the key then turn it to the
left.

 Remove the cap and hang it on
the hook located on the inside of
the l ap.
A label afi xed to the inside of the fuel
i ller l ap indicates which type of fuel
to use.
When you i ll your tank, do not con-
tinue after the third cut-off of the
pump. This could cause your vehicle
to malfunction.

The capacity of the tank is approx-
imately 60 litres.

 After i lling the tank, lock the cap
and close the fuel i ller l ap.
Low fuel level
When the minimum
fuel level in the tank
is reached, this warn-
ing light comes on on
the instrument panel.

You can still drive approximately
30 miles (50 km). Operating fault
With the ignition on, if the fuel gauge
needle remains in or returns to the
rest position (below zero), this in-
dicates a malfunction of the fuel
gauge.

SAFETY
Fastening the seat belts

 Pull the strap, then insert the buc-
kle into the stalk.

 Check that the seat belt is fas-
tened by pulling the strap.
Unfastening the seat belts
When the ignition is switched
on, the warning light comes
on on the instrument panel
if the driver has not fastened
his seat belt.
With the engine running and the
doors closed, the warning light goes
off automatically after 30 seconds.
If the seat belt is unfastened:
- below 12 mph (20 km/h), the warn- ing light comes on constantly,
- above 12 mph (20 km/h) and for two minutes, the warning light
l ashes accompanied by an au-
dible signal of increasing volume.
Once these two minutes have
elapsed, the warning light re-
mains on until the driver fastens
his seat belt.

Pre-tensioning and
force-limiting front
seat belts
Safety in the event of a frontal
impact has been improved by
the introduction of pre-tension-
ing and force-limiting front seat
belts. Depending on the serious-
ness of the impact, the pre-ten-
sioning system instantly tightens
the seat belt i rmly against the
body of the occupant.
The pre-tensioning seat belts
are armed when the ignition is
on.
The force-limiting device reduc-
es the pressure of the seat belt
against the chest of the occupant,
so increasing his protection.

DRIVING
Moving off
With the engine running, to move off
from position P :

 it is essential to press the brake
pedal,

 release the handbrake,

 select position R , D or M , then
gradually release the pressure
on the brake pedal; the vehicle
moves off immediately.

You can also move off from position N . Sport and snow programmes
In addition to the auto-adaptive
programme, there are two special
programmes .
The programme is displayed on the
instrument panel screen.
Sport programme

 Press button S once the engine
has been started.
The gearbox automatically favours
sporty driving and more dynamic
acceleration.
Snow programme
This programme improves starting
and drive when traction is poor.

 Press button  once the engine
has been started.
The gearbox adapts to driving on
slippery roads.

Note: you can return to the auto-
adaptive programme at any time.

 Press button S or  again to
switch off the programme you
are in.
Automatic operation

Automatic changing of the four
gears:

 select position D in the gate.
The gearbox automatically adapts
the gear in relation to the style of
driving, the road proi le and the
vehicle load.
The gearbox is then operating in
auto-adaptive mode, without any
action on your part .
For immediate maximum accelera-
tion without touching the gear lever,
press the accelerator pedal down as
far as it will go (kickdown). The gear-
box will automatically change down
or maintain the gear selected until
maximum engine speed is reached.
When braking, the gearbox will au-
tomatically change down in order to
provide efi cient engine braking.
If you take your foot off the accel-
erator suddenly, the gearbox will not
change to a higher gear for reasons
of safety.
When the engine is at idle,
brakes not applied, if position
R ,

D or M is selected the vehicle
moves even without the accel-
erator being pressed.
For this reason, do not leave
children unsupervised inside
the vehicle, with the engine
running .
If the lever is not in position P ,
an audible signal is heard and
a message appears when the
driver's door is opened or ap-
proximately 45 seconds after
the ignition is switched off. Move
the lever to P . The audible sig-
nal stops and the message dis-
appears. Never select position
N when
the vehicle is moving.
Never select positions P or R
unless the vehicle is stationary.
Never change between posi-
tions to optimise braking on a
slippery surface.
When maintenance operations
need to be carried out with the
engine running, apply the hand-
brake and select position
P .
