AUTOMATIC SWITCHING ON OF LIGHTS Side lights and dipped beam head- lamps switch on automatically if the
light is poor, or during operation of
the windscreen wipers. They switch
off when the light becomes brightenough or the windscreen wipersstop. Note:In foggy weather or in snow,
the brightness sensor can detect suf-
ficient light. As a consequence, the
lights will not come on automatically. This function is active when the vehicle is delivered.
To disarm or activate the function: Start with the key in the accesso- ries position (1st notch),
Press the end of the lights stalkfor more than two seconds.
Note: after the ignition is switched off
and depending on the brightness,the lights remain on for approximate-ly 45 seconds or until the vehicle islocked. Do not cover the brightness sen- sor located in the centre of thefascia. It is used for automaticswitching on of the lights. Operating check ActivationActivation of this function is accom- panied by an audible signal and themessage
"Automatic lighting
active" on the multi-function display.
Disarming Disarming of the function is accom- panied by an audible signal. Note: the function is disarmed tem-
porarily when the driver uses the manual lighting controls. If the brightness sensor does not function correctly , the system acti-
vates the function (the lights come
on). The driver is alerted by anaudible signal, accompanied by themessage "Automatic switching on
of lights faulty" on the multi-func-
tion display.

1or 2, when the vehicle
stops, the windscreen wiper changes to a lower wiping speed, then resumes itsinitial speed when the vehicle startsagain. In the Intermittent position, the wiping speed is proportional to the speed ofthe vehicle. In the AUTO position, the wiping speed
is proportional to the heaviness of the rain. When the ignition has been swit- ched off for more than one minutewith the stalk in the wipe position, itis necesary to reactivate this func-tion. To do this, move the stalk to any
position, then move it back to the requi-red position.
Windscreen and headlampwash Pull the windscreen wiper stalk towards you. The windscreen wash then the wind- screen wipers operate for a fixed
period. The windscreen wash andheadlamp wash operate simulta-neously for a few seconds, only if
the dipped beam or main beamheadlamps are on.

Maintenance position This position enables the wiper blades to be removed.
In the minute following switching off of the ignition, any action on the stalkpositions the wipers in the centre ofthe windscreen so that they may becleaned or replaced.
To park the wipers after this has been done, switch on the ignition andoperate the stalk.

Do not cover the rain sen- sor located on the wind-screen behind the interior
mirror.
When using an automatic carwash, switch off the ignition orcheck that the wiper stalk is not in
the automatic position. In winter, itis advisable to wait for the wind-screen to completely clear of icebefore operating the automaticwipe. Rear windscreen wiper

Automatic windscreen wipers In the

wiping active" appears on the mul-
tifunction display. Disarming Disarming of the function is accom- panied by an audible signal. In the event of malfunction , the dri-
ver is informed by an audible signal and the message "Auto wind-
screen wiper faulty" on the multi-
function display. In the AUTOposition, the wind-
screen wiper will operate in intermit- tent mode.

CHANGING A WINDSCREEN WIPER BLADE Placing the wiper blades in the maintenance position Within one minute of switching off the ignition, operate the wipersstalk to position the wiper bladesin the centre of the windscreen(maintenance position).
Changing a wiper blade Lift the wiper arm, then unclip the blade and remove it.
Fit the new blade and push backthe arm.
Note : the shortest blade is fitted on
the vehicle's right-hand windscreenwiper arm.
To return the windscreen wipers to their normal position, switch onthe ignition and operate the wiperstalk. ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION After the engine has stopped, certain functions (windscreen wipers, elec-tric windows, panoramic roofconcealing flap, courtesy lights,audio equipment etc.) can only beused for thirty minutes, to prevent
discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the message
"Economy mode active"
appears on the multi-function displayand the active functions are put on
standby.
To resume use of these functions, start the engine and let it run for afew seconds. LOAD REDUCTION When driving, certain functions (air conditioning, heated rear screen,heating system for passenger com-partment of diesel vehicles, etc.) may
be switched off temporarily, depen-ding on the level of battery charge. Reactivation of these functions is automatic, once the battery charge is
sufficient. Note:
at the risk of discharging the
battery, the functions that have been
switched off may be reactivated
manually.
