This locks the engine control system

v e n t s s t a r t i n g o f t h e v e h i c l e b y a n y -
o n e w h o d o e s n o t h a v e t h e k e y .
The ignition key has an electronic
c h i p w h i c h h a s a s p e c i a l c o d e . W h e n
t h e i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o n , t h e c o d e
i s r e c o g n i s e d a n d s t a r t i n g i s p o s -
sible.
If the system does not function
correctly, t h e s e r v i c e w a r n i n g l i g h t
c o m e s o n , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u -
dible signal and a message on the
m u l t i f u n c t i o n d i s p l a y .
I n t h i s c a s e , y o u r v e h i c l e w i l l n o t

Changing a wiper blade
L i f t t h e w i p e r a r m , t h e n u n c l i p t h e
blade and remove it.
F i t t h e n e w b l a d e a n d p u s h b a c k
the arm.

To return the windscreen wipers to
their normal position, switch on the
ignition and operate the wiper stalk.
BATTERY
To charge the battery using a
battery charger:
- D i s c o n n e c t t h e b a t t e r y s t a r t i n g
w i t h t h e n e g a t i v e ( - ) t e r m i n a l ,
- F o l l o w t h e i n s t r u c t i o n s f o r u s e g i v e n b y t h e b a t t e r y c h a r g e r m a n -
ufacturer,
- C h e c k t h a t t h e t e r m i n a l s a n d connectors are clean. If they are
c o v e r e d w i t h s u l p h a t e ( w h i t e o r
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , d i s c o n n e c t
them and clean them,
- R e c o n n e c t s t a r t i n g w i t h t h e n e g a - t i v e ( - ) t e r m i n a l . Before disconnecting the
b a t t e r y , y o u m u s t w a i t f o r
2 m i n u t e s a f t e r s w i t c h i n g o f f
the ignition.
N e v e r d i s c o n n e c t a t e r m i n a l w h e n
the engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t i r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
C l o s e t h e w i n d o w s a n d t h e r o o f c o n -
cealing shutter before disconnecting
t h e b a t t e r y . I f t h e w i n d o w s a n d t h e
s h u t t e r d o n o t o p e r a t e n o r m a l l y f o l -
l o w i n g r e c o n n e c t i o n o f t h e b a t t e r y ,
t h e y m u s t b e r e i n i t i a l i s e d ( s e e s e c -
tion "Reinitialisation of the electric

A f t e r e v e r y r e c o n n e c t i o n o f t h e b a t -
t e r y , s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n a n d w a i t
1 m i n u t e b e f o r e s t a r t i n g t o a l l o w t h e
electronic systems to be initialised. If
s l i g h t d i f i c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f -
t e r t h i s , p l e a s e c o n t a c t a P E U G E O T
dealer.
F o l l o w i n g d i s c o n n e c t i o n o f t h e b a t -
tery, the remote control key and the
GPS satellite navigation system must
b e r e i n i t i a l i s e d ( s e e c o r r e s p o n d i n g
section).
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be
used for a period of more than
one month.
To start the vehicle from
another battery:
- C o n n e c t t h e r e d c a b l e t o t h e p o s i -
t i v e ( + ) t e r m i n a l s o f t h e t w o b a t -
teries,
- C o n n e c t o n e e n d o f t h e g r e e n o r b l a c k c a b l e t o t h e n e g a t i v e ( - ) t e r -
minal of the slave battery,
- C o n n e c t t h e o t h e r e n d o f t h e g r e e n o r b l a c k c a b l e t o a n e a r t h p o i n t o n
t h e b r o k e n d o w n v e h i c l e a s f a r a s
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ,
- O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e r u n ,
- W a i t f o r t h e e n g i n e t o r e t u r n t o idle, then disconnect the cables. T h e b a t t e r i e s c o n t a i n h a r m -
f u l s u b s t a n c e s s u c h a s s u l -
p h u r i c a c i d a n d l e a d . T h e y
m u s t b e d i s p o s e d o f i n a c -
c o r d a n c e w i t h r e g u l a t i o n s a n d m u s t
