The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger
to the ozone layer. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and mainte-
nance rules below:

 If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
parked in the sun for a considerable time, do not hesitate t o ventilate the
passenger compartment for a few minutes.
Place the air fl ow control at a suffi cient level to provide an adequate renewal
of air in the passenger compartment.

 To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot.

 Favour the intake of exterior air as prolonged use of the a ir recirculation may
cause misting of the windows and side windows.

 Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the fascia; th is is used for
regulation of the automatic air conditioning system.

 Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in perfect working order.

 Ensure that the passenger compartment fi lter is in good condit ion and have
the fi lter elements replaced regularly (refer to the "Checks" sectio n).
We recommend the use of a combined passenger compartment fi lter . Thanks
to its second special active fi lter, it contributes to the pu rifi cation of the air
breathed by the occupants and the cleanness of the passenger co mpart-
ment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy deposit s).

 To guarantee correct operation of the air conditioning syste m, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.

 If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning permits the recovery of engi ne power and
therefore improvement of the towing capacity.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of water
under the vehicle which is perfectly normal.

The electronic parking brake combines
2 operational modes:
- Automatic application/release
Application is automatic when the engine stops, release is automatic
on use of the accelerator (activated
by default),
- Manual application/release
The parking brake can be applied/re- leased manually by pulling control A .
ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE
Deactivation is recommended
in particularly cold conditions
(ice) and during towing (break-
down, caravan...)
Programming the mode
The automatic application when the en-
gine is switched off and the automatic
release when you press the accelerator
can be deactivated.
If this warning lamp on the
instrument panel comes on,
the automatic mode is deac-
tivated. Activation/deactivation is
performed using the con-
fi guration menu, refer to
the "Multifunction displays"
section.
The parking brake is then applied and
released manually. When the driver's
door is opened, a beep is heard and a
message is displayed if the brake is not
applied.

With the vehicle stationary, to apply the
parking brake whether the engine is
running or off, pull on control A .
The application of the parking brake is
confi rmed by:
- the lighting of the braking warning lamp and of the warn-
ing lamp P on the control A ,
- the displaying of the message "Parking brake applied".
When the driver’s door is opened with
the engine running, a beep is heard and
a message is displayed if the parking
brake has not been applied, unless the
selector lever is in position P (Park) in
the case of an automatic gearbox.
Manual release
With the ignition on or the engine run-
ning, to release the parking brake,

press on the brake pedal or the acce-
lerator, pull then release control A .
The full application of the parking brake
is confi rmed by:
-
the extinction of the braking
warning lamp and of the warn-
ing lamp P on control A ,
- the displaying of the message
"Parking brake released".
If you pull control A without pres-
sing the brake pedal, the parking
brake will not be released and a
warning lamp will light up on the
instrument panel.
Manual application Maximum application
If necessary, you can utilise maximum
application of the parking brake. It is
obtained by means of a long pull on
control A , until you see the message
"Parking brake applied" and a beep is
heard.
In the case of towing, a loaded
vehicle or parking on a gradi-
ent, turn the front wheels to-
wards the pavement and engage a
gear when you park.
After a maximum application, the re-
lease time will be longer.
Before leaving the vehicle,
check that parking brake
warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel is permanently lit.
Maximum application is essential:
- in the case of a vehicle towing a caravan or a trailer, if the automatic
functions are activated but you
are applying the parking brake
manually,
- when the gradient you are parked on is variable in its effect (e.g. on a
ferry, in a lorry, during towing),

TOWING A TRAILER, A CARAVAN, ETC.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
may also be used for towing a trailer. Driving advice
The maximum towing load on a long
slope depends on the gradient and the
ambient temperature.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
Side wind

 Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.

 To lower the engine speed, reduce
your speed. Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
distance.
Tyres

 Check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pres-
sures.
Lighting

 Check the electrical signalling on
the trailer.
The rear parking assistance
will be deactivated automati-
cally if an original PEUGEOT
towbar is used.
 If the warning lamp and the

STOP warning lamp come
on, stop the vehicle and
switch off the engine as
soon as possible.
Towbar suited to the attachment of a
trailer or caravan with additional signal-
ling and lighting.
Distribution of loads

 Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest items are as close
as possible to the axle and the nose
weight approaches the maximum
permitted without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towing load
must be reduced by 10 % and so on for
every 1 000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical Data" section for
details of the weights and towing loads
which apply to your vehicle.
Driving with a trailer subjects the towing
vehicle to more signifi cant stress and its
driver must be particularly careful.
We recommend the use of
genuine PEUGEOT towbars
and their harnesses that have
been tested and approved from the
design stage of your vehicle, and that
the fi tting of the towbar is entrusted
to a PEUGEOT dealer.
If the trailer is not fi tted by a PEUGEOT
dealer, it is imperative that it is fi tted
using the electrical pre-equipment
installed at the rear of the vehicle, in
accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.
