When this fi rst comes on, you
have approximately 6 litres of
fuel remaining in the tank.
Refuel as soon as possible to avoid run-
ning out of fuel. Airbags.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in one of
the airbag, roll-over hoop or
seat belt pretensioner systems.
Seat belt not fastened/
unfastened.

presence of water in the Diesel
fi lter.
There is a risk of damage to the injec-
tion system on Diesel engines. Door open.
A door or the boot is open:
Battery charge.
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
battery charging circuit (dirty or
loose terminals, slack or cut alternator
belt...). Engine oil pressure.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the en-
gine lubrication system. Stop
the vehicle as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Specifi c warning lamps
Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR).
The ESP/ASR system is put into
service automatically when the
vehicle is started.
Unless the system has been deactivated, if this
warning lamp and the indicator lamp on the
button come on continuously, this indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the ESP/ASR system.
* According to country.
-
if the speed is below 6 mph (10 km/h), this
warning lamp comes on continuously.
- if the speed is higher than 6 mph
(10 km/h), this warning lamp comes
on continuously, accompanied by an
audible signal.
Never continue to drive until you
run out of fuel, this could damage
the emission control and injection
systems.
Foot on brake.
Press the brake pedal to start
the engine with the automatic
gearbox. Until suffi cient fuel has been added, this
warning lamp comes on again every the
ignition is switched on, along with an au-
dible signal and an alert message. When
driving, this audible signal and the display
of the message are repeated with increas-
ing frequency, as the fuel level drops to-
wards
"0" .
Capacity of the tank: approximately 60 litres .

CHECKS
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
or fl uids with the skin.
Most of these fl uids are harmful to
health or indeed very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or fl uids
into sewers or onto the ground.
Take used oil to a PEUGEOT dealer
(France) or an authorised waste
disposal site.
Diesel additive level (Diesel
engine with particle emission
filter)
A low additive level is indicated by light-
ing of the service warning lamp, accom-
panied by an audible warning and a
message on the multifunction screen.
Used products
CHECKS
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance with
the Warranty and Maintenance Record
and according to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Battery
The battery does not require
any maintenance.
However, check that the ter-
minals are clean and correctly
tightened, particularly in sum-
mer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery,
refer to the "Practical information" sec-
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.

Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the Warranty and
Maintenance Record for details
of the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of the
vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace them
twice as often if necessary (refer to
the "Engines" paragraph).
A clogged cabin fi lter may have an ad-
verse effect on the performance of the
air conditioning system and generate
undesirable odours. Particle emission filter (Diesel)
Display of this warning lamp,
together with the service war-
ning lamp, indicates the start of
saturation of the particle fi lter or
low level in the Diesel additive
reservoir.
Oil filter
Replace the oil fi lter each time
the engine oil is changed.
Refer to the Warranty and
Maintenance Record for details
of the replacement interval for
this component.
Following prolonged operation of
the vehicle at very low speed or at
idle, you may, in exceptional cir-
cumstances, notice the emission
of water vapour at the exhaust on
acceleration. This does not affect
the behaviour of the vehicle or the
environment.
Topping up
This additive must be topped up by a
PEUGEOT dealer without delay.
As soon as the traffi c conditions per-
mit, regenerate the fi lter by driving at a
speed of at least 40 mph (60 km/h) until
the service warning lamp goes off. If the service warning lamp
stays on, this indicates a low
additive level. Have the addi-
tive reservoir topped up and
the particle emission fi lter serviced by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
BATTERY
Access to the battery Starting using another battery

 Connect the red cable to the posi-
tive terminal (+) of the fl at battery A ,
then to the positive terminal (+) of
the slave battery B .
The battery is located under the bonnet.
For access to it:

 open the bonnet using the interior
release lever, then the exterior safety
catch,

 secure the bonnet stay,

 remove the plastic cover to gain
access to the two terminals,

 unclip the fusebox to remove the
battery, if necessary. Disconnecting the cables

 Raise the locking tab fully.
Reconnecting the cables

 Position the open clip 1 of the cable
on the positive terminal (+) of the
battery.

 Press vertically on the clip 1 to posi-
tion it correctly against the battery.

 Lock the clip by lowering the tab 2 .
Do not force the tab as locking will
not be possible if the clip is not po-
sitioned correctly; start the proce-
dure again.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

 Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative terminal (-)
of the slave battery B .

 Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to the earth point C
on the broken down vehicle.

 Operate the starter, let the engine
run.

 Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables. Do not disconnect the terminals
while the engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries without
disconnecting the terminals fi rst.
The batteries contain harmful sub-
stances such as sulphuric acid and
lead. They must be disposed of in
accordance with regulations and
must not, in any circumstances, be
discarded with household waste.
Take used remote control batteries
and vehicle batteries to a special
collection point.
Charging the battery using
a battery charger

 Disconnect the battery from the
vehicle.

 Follow the instructions for use pro-
vided by the manufacturer of the
charger.

 Reconnect starting with the nega-
tive terminal (-).

Check that the terminals and connec-
tors are clean. If they are covered with
sulphate (whitish or greenish deposit),
remove them and clean them.

To avoid discharging the battery,
do not leave the lights on repeat-
edly with the ignition off (refer to
the "Energy economy mode" para-
graph).
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is to be left un-
used for more than one month. Before disconnecting the battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off
the ignition before disconnecting
the battery.
Close the roof, the windows and
the doors before disconnecting the
battery.
Following reconnection of the
battery

Following reconnection of the bat-
tery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to permit
initialisation of the electronic sys-
tems. However, if slight diffi culties
are encountered following this ope-
ration, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Referring to the corresponding sec-
tion, you must yourself reinitialise:
- the remote control key,
- the electric windows and the automatic partial opening of the
door windows,
- the GPS satellite navigation system.
