INSTRUMENTS and CONTROLS
The warning lights may come on
c o n t i n u o u s l y o r fl a s h .
Certain warning lights may come
on in two different modes. Only by
relating the type of lighting to the
operating status of the vehicle can
it be ascertained whether the situ-
ation is normal or whether a fault
has occurred.
Indicator and warning lights
Visual indicators informing the driver
that a system is in operation (operation
or deactivation indicator lights) or of the
occurrence of a fault (warning light).
Associated warnings
The switching on of certain warning
lights may be accompanied by an audi-
ble signal and a message on the multi-
function display.
Operation indicator lights
If one of the following indicator lights comes
o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g
system has come into operation.
Left-hand direction indicator.
Handbrake applied.
Right-hand direction
indicator.
Main beam headlamps.
Dipped headlamps.
Diesel engine pre-heating.
Wait until this is switched off
before operating the starter.
Front fog lamps.
Rear fog lamp.
When the ignition is switched on
The warning lights come on for a few
seconds when the vehicle’s ignition is
switched on.
When the engine is started, these warning
lights should switch off.
If they remain on, before moving off,
consult the warning light concerned.

VENTILATION
System which creates and maintains
comfortable conditions in the vehicle’s
passenger compartment. Air treatment
The incoming air follows various routes
depending on the controls selected by
the driver:
- direct arrival in the passenger
compartment (air intake),
- passage through a heating circuit (heating),
- passage through a cooling circuit (air conditioning).
The temperature control enables you to
obtain the level of comfort required by
m i x i n g t h e a i r o f t h e v a r i o u s c i r c u i t s . The air distribution control enables you
to diffuse the air in the passenger com-
partment combining several air vents.
T h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l e n a b l e s y o u t o i n -
crease or reduce the speed of the ven-
tilation blower.
Air intake
The air circulating in the passenger com-
p a r t m e n t i s fi l t e r e d a n d o r i g i n a t e s e i t h e r
from the outside via the grille located at
the base of the windscreen or from the
inside in air recirculation mode. Control panel
The controls of this system are grouped
together on control panel
A on the cen-
tre console. Depending on the model,
the functions offered are:
- the level of comfort required,
- t h e a i r fl o w ,
- the air distribution,
- the de-icing and demisting,
- the manual or automatic air condi- tioning controls.
Air diffusion
1. Windscreen de-icing or demisting
vents.
2. Front side window de-icing or
demisting vents.
3. Side adjustable and closing vents.
4. Central adjustable and closing
vents.
5. Air outlets to the front footwells.
6. Adjustable and closing vents for the
rear passengers.
7. Air outlets to the rear footwells.

1. Temperature adjustment
The air distribution can be
adapted by placing the dial in
an intermediate position.
The heating/ventilation or air condition-
ing systems can only operate with the

The recirculation of interior air insulates

in position 0 (deactivation of the
system), the temperature is no
longer maintained at a comfortable
l e v e l . H o w e v e r , a s l i g h t fl o w o f
air, due to the movement of the
vehicle, can still be felt.
3. Air distribution adjustment
Press the button to recirculate
the interior air. The indicator

Press the button again to permit the

De-icing - Demisting
To quickly de-ice or demist the wind-
screen and side windows:
place the air intake control 4 in the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n ,
place the air distribution dial 3 in the
"Windscreen position",
place the temperature 1 a n d a i r fl o w
2 d i a l s a t m a x i m u m ,
close the central vents, The control button is located on
the heating or air conditioning
system control panel.
REAR SCREEN DE-ICING
Switch off the de-icing of the
r e a r s c r e e n a n d e x t e r i o r m i r r o r s
as soon as you consider this
necessary as lower current
consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption.
If the engine is switched off before
the de-icing is switched off auto-
m a t i c a l l y , d e - i c i n g w i l l r e s u m e n e x t
time the engine is switched on.
Switching on
The rear screen de-icing can only operate
when the engine is running.
Press this button to de-ice the rear
s c r e e n a n d t h e e x t e r i o r m i r r o r s . T h e
indicator light associated with the
button comes on.
Switching off
The de-icing switches off automatically
t o p r e v e n t a n e x c e s s i v e c o n s u m p t i o n o f
current.
It is possible to stop the de-icing
operation before it is switched off
automatically by pressing the button
again. The indicator light associated
with the button switches off.
5. Air conditioning On/Off
The air conditioning is de-
signed to operate effectively in
all seasons, with the windows
closed.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the demisting in winter, above 0 °C.
Switching on
Press the "A/C" button, the
associated indicator light comes on.
The air conditioning does not op-
e r a t e w h e n t h e a i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t
control 2 is in position "0".
Switching off
Press the "A/C" button again, the
associated indicator light switches off.

This has areas for storing a small bottle
of water, the vehicle’s handbook, ...
Its lid has areas for storing a pen, a pair
of spectacles, tokens, cards, a can, fra-
grance cartridges, ...
SUN VISOR
Component which protects against
sunlight from the front or the side, also
equipped with an illuminated courtesy
mirror.
With the ignition on, raise the
c o n c e a l i n g fl a p ; t h e m i r r o r i s l i t
automatically.
This sun visor is also equipped with a
ticket holder.
TOLL CARD/CAR PARK TICKET WINDOWS
F a c i l i t y f o r a f fi x i n g t o l l c a r d s a n d / o r c a r
park tickets.
These windows are located on each
side of the base of the interior mirror.
T h e y a r e t w o n o n - r e fl e c t i v e a r e a s o f t h e
athermic windscreen.
The athermic windscreen limits
heating of the passenger compart-
ment by reducing the effects of the
sun’s rays (ultra-violet). It consists
o f a r e fl e c t i v e l a y e r , w h i c h a l s o
blocks certain radio-electric signals
(toll card payments, ...).
T o o p e n t h e g l o v e b o x , r a i s e t h e
handle.
The light comes on when the lid is
opened.
I f t h e v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a i r c o n d i t i o n -
ing, it provides access to the air vent A ,
which can be opened or closed, distrib-
uting the same conditioned air as the
vents in the passenger compartment.
I t a l s o p e r m i t s a c c e s s t o t h e f u s e b o x i n
the fascia (refer to the section "Practical
information - § Changing a fuse").
