correctly.
The adjustment is correct when the
top of the head restraint is aligned
with the top of the head of the

Front seat belts with
pre-tensioner and force limiter
In the event of a serious impact,
the pre-tensioning system instantly
tightens the seat belts irmly against
the bodies of the occupants.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the
pressure of the seat belt on the body
of the occupant in the event of an
accident.
Rear seat belts
The rear seats are all itted with a
three-point inertia reel seat belt.
The rear side seat belts have a force
limiter and may be itted with a pre-
tensioning inertia reel. Before folding the seat back, pull the
strap and insert the seat belt buckle
into the clasp. This precaution will
ensure that each seat belt is in place
when the rear seats are lifted again.
Third rear central seat belt
- pull the belt located between the
centre head restraint and the left
rear head restraint,
- insert the ixed buckle in the black clasp located on the left,
- insert the sliding buckle in the red and black (movable) clasp.
To release it, press the black button
of the locking clasp.
To be effective, a seat belt
must be tightened as close to
the body as possible.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of the impact, the pre-
tensioners may be triggered before
and independently of the air bags.
In all cases, the air bag warning light
comes on.
After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.

ground (kerb, wall...) when carrying
out parking manoeuvres in reverse
gear.
Initial setting of the function

deselect the mirror.
The mirror returns to the driving
position automatically if the vehicle
speed exceeds 10 mph (15 km/h). Objects observed in the
driver and passenger mirrors
are, in reality, closer than

INTERIOR MIRROR
Automatic day/night interior
mirror
This automatically and gradually
changes between the day and
night positions. To prevent dazzling,
the glass of the mirror darkens
automatically depending on the
intensity of the light from behind.
It clears as the light (headlamps
of following vehicles, sunlight)
decreases, ensuring maximum
visibility. Operation
Switch on the ignition and press
switch
1:
- Indicator light 2 lit (switch
pressed): automatic operation.
- Indicator light 2 off: automatic
system off. The mirror remains at
its most clear.
Special feature

manoeuvres, the mirror clears
automatically when reverse gear is
engaged.

OBSTACLE PROXIMITY
DETECTION
This system consists of four proximity
sensors, located in the rear bumper.
This detects any obstacle (person,
cyclist, vehicle, tree, gate, etc.)
behind the vehicle. Nevertheless, it
cannot detect obstacles located just
below the bumper.
Warning: an object, such as a stake,
a roadworks cone or any other similar
object detected at the beginning of
the manoeuvre may no longer be
detected during the manoeuvre.
To make manoeuvres in reverse
gear easier, adjust your mirrors in
accordance with the equipment of
the "Automatic tilting of the mirrors in
reverse gear" function.
Maintenance: ensure that the
sensors are not covered with mud,
frost or snow.
Activation
The system is activated as soon as
reverse gear is engaged; an audible
bleep shows that it is active.
The proximity information is given by
an audible signal, which becomes
more rapid as the vehicle approaches
the obstacle.
Deactivation
F
Press the switch on the centre
console.
The indicator light on the switch
comes on and the system becomes
completely inactive.
If there is an operating fault,
on changing to reverse gear
an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction
display indicate that there is a system
malfunction.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Interior comfort
Your vehicle's rear speakers emit an
audible signal:
- on the right if an obstacle is detected on the right,
- on the left if an obstacle is detected on the left,
- on the right and left if an obstacle is detected in the centre.
When the distance between the
rear of the vehicle and the obstacle
is less than approximately twenty-
ive centimetres, the audible signal
becomes continuous.
Switching the system off
F Change to neutral, the system is
again inactive.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also
depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- Since 1992,
all children under
the age of 10 must travel in
approved child seats* suited to
their weight , on seats itted with
a seat belt or ISOFIX mountings.
- A child weighing less than 9
kg must travel in the rearwards
facing position both in the
front and in the rear. PEUGEOT
recommends that children
should travel in the "rearwards
facing" position up to the age of
two. -
Statistically, the safest
seats in your vehicle for the
transportation of children
are the rear seats. PEUGEOT
recommends that children
travel in the rear even when a
"rearwards facing" child seat is
used.
- If a child is travelling on a booster seat, check that the lap section of
the seat belt passes over the child's
thighs correctly. The chest section
of the seat belt must be positioned
on the child's shoulder without
touching the neck. PEUGEOT
recommends that you use a
booster seat with a back, itted with
a seat belt guide at shoulder level.
- Remember to fasten the seat belt or the child seat harness
keeping the slack in relation to
the child's body to a minimum ,
even for short journeys. Special points relating to the
transportation of children on the
front passenger seat*
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the forwards facing position,
unless the rear seats are already
occupied by other children or the
rear seats cannot be used (absent or
folded). In this case, adjust the front
passenger seat to the intermediate
longitudinal position and leave the
passenger air bag armed.
The transportation of children in
the rearwards facing position is
permitted. In this position, it is
essential to disarm the passenger air
bag. Otherwise, the child would risk
being killed or seriously injured if the
air bag were to inflate.
* According to current legislation in
the country.
