Disarming the front passenger’s front air bag*
To ensure the safety of your child, it is essential to disarm the passenger air bag when you install a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat. Otherwise, the child would risk being seriously injured or killed if the air bag were to inflate.
With the ignition switched off, in-sert the key into the passenger air bag disarming switch, turn it to the "OFF" position, then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
Reactivation
As soon as the child seat is removed, turn the air bag slot to the "ON" posi-tion to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure its safety function.
* According to country.
When the ignition is on, this warning light remains lit on the instrument panel for the duration of disarming.
In the "OFF" position, the passen-ger air bag will not be triggered in the event of an impact.

Steering column air bag*
- Do not sit with your knees any near-er to the steering wheel than neces-sary.
Front air bags
- Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on the centre part of the wheel.- Passengers must not place their feet on the fascia.- Smoke as little as possible; deploy-ment of the air bags can cause burns or the risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.- Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
* According to country.
Front side air bags
- Only put approved covers on the seats. These will not hamper the de-ployment of the side air bags. Con-tact a PEUGEOT dealer.- Do not fix or glue anything to the seat backs. This could cause injury to the chest or arms when the side air bag inflates.- Do not sit with the upper part of the body any nearer to the door than necessary.
Curtain air bags
- Do not fix or glue anything to the pil-lars or the roof. This could cause injury to the head when the curtain air bag inflates.- Do not remove the grab handles in-stalled on the roof, they play a part in securing the curtain air bags.
For the air bags to be fully ef-fective, observe the following safety rules:
- Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.- Sit in a normal upright position.- Do not leave anything between the occupants and the air bags (a child, pet, object...). This could hamper the operation of the air bags or injure the occupants.
- After an accident or if the vehicle has been stolen or broken into, have the air bag systems checked.- All work on the air bag system is strictly forbidden unless it is carried out by qualified personnel of the PEUGEOT network.- Even if all of the precautions men-tioned are observed, a risk of injury or of slight burns to the head, chest or arms, when an air bag is de-ployed, cannot be ruled out. The bag inflates almost instantly (within a few milliseconds) then deflates within the same time discharging the hot gas via openings provided for this pur-pose.

Gear selection gate
Move the lever in the gate to select a position.
The indicator light corresponding to the position selected appears on the instrument panel screen.
Park: to immobilise the vehicle and to start the engine, with the handbrake on.
Reverse: to reverse(select this posi-tion with the vehicle stationary, engine at idle).
Neutral: to start the engine and to park, with the handbrake on.
Note: if position N is inadvertently en-gaged while driving, allow the engine to return to idle before engaging posi-tion D then accelerate.
Drive: to drivein automatic mode.
Manual: to driveselecting the gears.
S: sport programme.
: snow programme.
"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
The six speed automatic gearbox of-fers, as required, the comfort of the auto-adaptive programme enhanced by a selection suited to dynamic driv-ing conditions: sport, or to driving on a slippery road: snow.
However, manual selection is still pos-sible using the gear lever.
Moving Off
With the engine running, move off from position P:to exit position P, it is essential to press the brake pedal,
select position R, D or M, then gradually release the pressure on the brake pedal; the vehicle moves off immediately.
To move off from position N:
 with your foot on the brake, release the handbrake,
 select position R, D or M, then gradually release the pressure on the brake pedal; the vehicle moves off immediately.
Starting the engine
 with the handbrake on, select posi-tion P or N in the gate,
 turn the ignition key.
Always keep your foot on the brake on a steep incline.
When the engine is at idle, brakes not applied, if posi-tion R, D or M is selected, the vehicle moves even without the accelerator being pressed.
Do not leave children unsupervised inside the vehicle, with position R, D or M selected, with the engine run-ning, as the vehicle moves even with-out the accelerator being pressed.
With the ignition off, if the lever is not in position P, an audible signal is heard when the driv-er’s door is opened, or after approximately 45 seconds. Move the lever to position P. The audible signal ceases.

When maintenance opera-tions need to be carried out with the engine running, apply the handbrake and select the Park position.
Sport and Snow programmes
These are two special programmes.
The programme selected is displayed on the instrument panel screen.
It is only possible to change from one gear to another if the vehicle speed and engine speed permit. If they do not, the vehicle will operate temporarily in automatic mode.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-ing very slowly, the gearbox auto-matically selects gear M1.
Programmes S (sport) and  (snow) do not operate in manual gear selection mode.
Any operating abnorma-lity is indicated by lighting of this warning light, accom-panied by an audible signal and a message on the multi-function display.
In this situation the gearbox oper-ates in downgrade mode (locked in 3rd gear). You may feel a substantial knock when changing from P to R and from N to R (this will not cause any damage to the gearbox).
Do not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h) or keep within local speed limits.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.
Operating check
Operation with manual selection of the gears
 select position M in the gate,
 push the lever to the + sign to change up a gear and push again to change up another gear,
 pull the lever to the - sign to change --down a gear and pull again to change down another gear.
You can change from position D (driv-ing in automatic mode) to position M (driving in manual mode) at any time.
The auto-adaptive programme
 select position D in the gate: the gearbox operates in auto-adaptive mode, without any action on your part, taking into account the follow-ing parameters:
- the style of driving,- the profile of the road,- the vehicle load.To obtain maximum acceleration with-out touching the lever, press the ac-celerator down fully (kick down). The programme will change down auto-matically or will stay in the gear select-ed until the maximum engine speed is reached.
When the brake is applied, the pro-gramme will change down automati-cally in order to provide efficient en-gine braking.
Sport programme
Press button S once the vehicle has been started in position D, the auto-adaptive programme favours dynamic driving.
Snow programme
This programme improves starting and drive when traction is poor.
 Press button  once the vehi-cle has been started and position D has been selected, the auto-adaptive programme adjusts the performance of the vehicle to the condition of the slippery road.
You can deactivate the Sport or Snow programme at any time by pressing the button selected.
Releasing the accelerator sharply does not have any im-mediate effect on the speed of the vehicle.
Never select position N when the vehicle is moving.
Never select positions P or R un-RRless the vehicle is stationary.
Never change between positions to op-timise braking on a slippery surface.
If the battery is flat and the le-ver is in position P, it will be impossible to change to an-other position.
In particular, do not force the lever or there is a risk the gearbox may be damaged.

This is confirmed by the switch light and the indicator lights.
ELECTRONICALLY
CONTROLLED SUSPENSION
The suspension adapts automatically and instantly to different driving styles and road characteristics, improving the comfort of the occupants and the vehicle’s road holding capabilities. The suspension favours smooth shock ab-sorption, ensuring a comfortable ride, but as soon as conditions demand a change (sporty driving, tight bends, avoidance action, etc.) it automatically selects firmer shock absorption, guar-anteeing optimum road holding.

CRUISE CONTROL/SPEED
LIMITER
Cruise control function
This enables the vehicle to maintain a steady speed programmed by the driver
In order for it to be memorised, the vehicle speed must be greater than 25 mph (40 km/h) with at least fourth gear engaged (second gear for the automatic gearbox), with the engine running.
Selecting the function
 Place switch 1 in the CRUISE position. The cruise control is not yet active and no speed has been memorised. The display indicates:
Switching the function off
 Place switch 1 in position 0 or LIMIT to switch the system off.
Note: It is possible to accelerate and drive momentarily at a speed greater than the memorised speed. The value memorised flashes. When the accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle will return to the memorised speed.
Cancelling the memorised speed
If you wish to cancel the memorised speed:
 Press button 4 or the brake or clutch pedal. The display indicates (e.g. at 70 mph (110 km/h):
Activation/memorising a speed
As soon as you reach the chosen speed, press button 2 or 3. This memorises the speed, which will be maintained automatically. The display indicates (e.g. at 70 mph (110 km/h):On a steep descent, the cruise control, which does not act on the brakes, is not able to prevent the vehicle from exceeding the programmed speed.
In no circumstances does the cruise control replace the requirement to respect speed limits, nor does it replace the need for vigilance and responsibility on the part of the driver.

89
Note: the speed memorised is cancelled automatically if the vehicle speed is less than 25 mph (40 km/h), or if the manual gearbox is in a gear lower than fourth (second gear for the automatic gearbox) or if the ESP is activated.
Operating check
In the event of a cruise control malfunc-tion, the memorised speed is erased, the dashes flash for a few seconds:
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.
Do not use the cruise control on slippery roads or in heavy traffic.
To prevent the mat from becoming caught under the pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned correctly,- never fit one mat on top of another.
Changing a memorised speed
To memorise a speed higher than the previous one, there are two options:
Without using the accelerator:
 press button 3;
Using the accelerator:
 exceed the memorised speed until the required speed is reached,
 press button 2 or 3.
To memorise a speed lower than the previous one:
 press button 2;
Short press: +/- 1 mph (1 km/h)
Long press: +/- 5 mph (5 km/h)
Maintained press: continuous increase or decrease of the value in steps of 5 mph (5 km/h).
