CHECK (vehicle self-test)
In the presence of a fault
A "minor" fault has been detected:
when the CHECK OK indicator lamp
has been displayed, the warning
lamp(s) is(are) displayed.
You can start your vehicle; however,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.
A "major" fault has been detected:
the CHECK OK indicator lamp does
not appear and the warning lamp(s)
is(are) displayed.
Do not start your vehicle.
Call a PEUGEOT dealer without delay. * According to country.
Automatic CHECK
With the key in the running (ignition
on) position, all of the warning lamps
of the functions tested are displayed.
They are switched off after a few sec-
onds.
At the same time, an automatic CHECK
(vehicle self-test) is carried out.
No "major" fault has been de-
tected: the CHECK OK indi-
cator lamp is displayed after
a few seconds.
You can start your vehicle. Manual CHECK
Pressing the
"CHECK/000" button on
the instrument panel starts the manual CHECK (vehicle self-test).
This function enables you to fi nd out, at
any time (with the key in the ignition on
position or with the engine running):
- the alerts present,
- the status of the functions activat-
ed or deactivated (automatic rain
sensitive wipers, automatic illumi-
nation of headlamps). The passenger's airbag deacti-
vated warning lamp * remains on
while the airbag is deactivated.

With the engine running and the ve-
hicle moving, the instrument panel
screen displays the warning lamps
(in the event of a fault).

To maintain the reliability of
engines and emission control
systems, the use of additives
in engine oil is prohibited. Cooling system CHECKING THE LEVELS
These are normal maintenance opera-tions which keep your vehicle in good
working order. Ask for advice from
a PEUGEOT dealer, or refer to the
Service Box website or the servicing
booklet supplied with the vehicle.

Important: if you have to remove/refi t
the engine style cover, handle it with
care to avoid damaging the fi xing clips.
Dipstick
There are two marks on
the dipstick:

A = maximum
Never fi ll past this mark.

B = minimum
Oil level

 Check the level regularly and top
up between oil changes.
Check the level with the vehicle level,
the engine having been off for more
than 15 minutes, using the dipstick. Take care when when doing
anything under the bonnet, as
some parts of the engine can be
extremely hot (risk of burns).
Oil change
It is imperative that this is carried out
at the intervals specifi ed and the vis-
cosity of the oil chosen must meet the
requirements laid down in the manu-
facturer's servicing schedule. Ask for
advice from a PEUGEOT dealer or re-
fer to the Service Box website.

Note: avoid used oil coming into pro-
longed contact with the skin. Empty the
used oil into the containers provided for
this purpose in the PEUGEOT dealer
network (France) or take it to an autho-
rised waste disposal site.
Oil filter
Replace the oil fi lter regularly in accor-
dance with the recommendations of
the servicing schedule.
Brake fluid change
Use the fl uid recommended by the
manufacturer, which fulfi ls DOT4
Standards.
It is imperative that the brake fl uid is
changed at the intervals specifi ed in
accordance with the manufacturer's
servicing schedule.

Note: avoid all contact with the skin,
the brake fl uid is harmful to health and
very corrosive. Use only the fl uid recommend-
ed by the manufacturer.

Note: the coolant does not need to be
changed.
When the engine is warm, the tempera-
ture of the coolant is controlled by the
engine fan. As this fan can operate with
the ignition key removed and because
the cooling system is pressurised, wait
for at least one hour after the engine has
stopped before carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap to the fi rst
notch to release the pressure
to prevent any risk of scald-
ing. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level with coolant.

The engine fan can oper-
ate after the vehicle has
stopped.
