TOWING THE VEHICLE
From the rear:

 Unclip the cover, pulling the upper
rib towards you,

 Screw in the towing eye as far as it
will go.
Special requirements with an automatic gearbox
Lifting (2 wheels only on the ground)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle with
professional lifting equipment.
When towing with the engine
switched off, there is no braking
or steering assistance.
From the front:

 Unclip the left part of the cover,

 Screw in the towing eye as far as it
will go. Towing a vehicle with an auto-
matic gearbox in reverse gear
is
prohibited (the gearbox is
not lubricated).
When being towed with all four wheels
on the ground, it is imperative that the
following rules are obeyed:
- gear lever in position N ,
- the vehicle must be towed at a speed of less than 30 mph (50 km/h) over
a maximum distance of 30 miles
(50 km),
- do not add oil to the gearbox.
Without lifting(4 wheels on the ground)
You must always use a towing bar.
The removable towing eye is inside
the spare wheel.

In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake gradually.

Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed. TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN, BOAT, ETC...
We recommend the use of genuine
PEUGEOT towbars which have been
tested and approved from the design
stage of your vehicle, and that the tow-
bar is fi tted by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Driving advice

Distribution of loads: distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heavi-
est loads are as close as possible to
the axle and the nose weight is close
to the maximum authorised without,
however, exceeding it.

Cooling: towing a trailer on a slope in-
creases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.
Note: in certain cases of par-
ticularly arduous use (towing
the maximum load in high
temperatures), the engine au-
tomatically limits its power and selects
the appropriate automatic gearbox
gear in manual mode. In this case,
switching off the air conditioning saves
engine power and so increases towing
capacity.
If the coolant temperature
warning lamp comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the
engine as soon as possible.

Tyres: check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle (label on the central
door pillar on the driver's side) and of
the trailer, observing the recommend-
ed pressures.

** The kerb weight is equal to the unladen vehicle + driver (75 kg).
*** The speed of a towing vehicle must not exceed 60 mp h (100 km/h) (comply with the legislation in force in your country).
WEIGHTS AND TOWED LOADS (IN KG): PETROL
(a) The braked trailer value corresponds to the towing capacity of the vehicle on a 12 % incline.
The braked trailer weight may be increased by (1) 250 kg, on con dition that the load in the vehicle is reduced so that the GTW
is not exceeded.
High ambient temperatures may result in a reduction in the pe rformance of the vehicle in order to protect the engine; when
the ambient temperature is higher than 37 °C, limit the we ight towed to 600 kg, without load transfer.
