Braking system warning
lamp
This indicates:
- parking brake applied or incorrectly released,
- an excessive drop in the brake fl u- id level, in this case linked with the

STOP warning lamp,
- an electronic brake force distribu- tion malfunction, linked with the

STOP warning lamp.
INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LAMPS Seat belt warning lamp
When the ignition is switched
on, the warning lamp comes
on if a front occupant has not
fastened or unfastens their
seat belt.
Low fuel warning lamp
In certain driving conditions
and depending on the en-
gine, the distance which you
will be able to travel with
the remaining fuel may be less than
30 miles (50 kilometres) (the capacity
of the tank is approximately 67 litres).
Emission control system
warning lamp
This should switch off a few
seconds after the engine is
switched on.
When the engine is running, if the
warning lamp fl ashes or comes on
continuously, this indicates an emis-
sion control system fault.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible. Passenger's airbag
deactivated warning lamp *
If the warning lamp remains
on, this indicates that the
passenger's airbag has been
deactivated intentionally.
This warning lamp is re-
peated in the instrument
panel screen in the case
of the last 2 faults.

You must stop as soon as it is
safe to do so in the two latter cases.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer. Anti-lock braking system
(ABS) warning lamp
If it comes on continuously
above 6 mph (10 km/h), it in-
dicates an ABS fault.
However, the vehicle retains conven-
tional servo-assisted braking.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
This warning lamp is re-
peated in the instrument
panel screen.
Directional headlamps
warning lamp
When this fl ashes, it indi-
cates a malfunction of the di-
rectional headlamps.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer. Diesel engine pre-heat
warning lamp
Wait for the warning lamp to
go off before starting. The
length of time that the lamp
stays on is determined by the
exterior climatic conditions.
This warning lamp is re-
peated in the instrument
panel screen.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAMME (ESP)
The electronic stability programme (ESP)
incorporates the following systems:
- anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the braking system (EBFD),
- emergency braking assistance system,
- anti-slip regulation (ASR), also known as traction control
- dynamic stability control (DSC).
Anti-slip regulation (ASR) -
Traction control
The ASR system optimises traction in
order to avoid wheel slip by acting on
the brakes of the driving wheels and
on the engine. It also improves the
directional stability of the vehicle on
acceleration.
Dynamic stability control (DSC)
If there is a difference between the
path followed by the vehicle and that
required by the driver, the DSC moni-
tors each wheel and automatically acts
on the brake of one or more wheels
and on the engine to return the vehicle
to the required path, within the limits of
the laws of physics.

Definitions
Emergency braking assistance
system
In an emergency, this system enables
you to reach the optimum braking
pressure more quickly and therefore
reduce the stopping distance.
It is triggered in relation to the speed
at which the brake pedal is pressed.
This is felt by a reduction in the resis-
tance of the pedal and an increase in
the effectiveness of the braking. When this warning lamp
comes on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a mes-
sage, it indicates that there
is an ABS fault, which could
cause a loss of control of the vehicle
when braking.
When this warning lamp
comes on, connected to the

STOP and ABS warning
lamps, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage, it indicates that there is an elec-
tronic brake force distribution fault,
which could cause a loss of control of
the vehicle when braking.

Stop
as soon as it is safe to do so
.
In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
and braking system (EBFD)
This system improves the stability and
manoeuvrability of your vehicle when
braking and offers improved control,
in particular on poor or slippery road
surfaces.
The ABS prevents wheel lock in the
event of emergency braking.
The EBFD provides complete man-
agement of the braking pressure
wheel by wheel. Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
and electronic brake force
distribution (EBFD) braking system
