CHANGING A WINDSCREEN
WIPER BLADE
Placing the wiper blades in the
maintenance position

ENERGY ECONOMY MODE
A f t e r t h e e n g i n e h a s s t o p p e d , c e r t a i n
f u n c t i o n s ( w i n d s c r e e n w i p e r , e l e c -
t r i c w i n d o w s , s u n r o o f , e l e c t r i c s e a t s ,
a u d i o e q u i p m e n t , t e l e p h o n e , d i p p e d
h e a d l a m p s , v i d e o , e t c . ) c a n o n l y b e
u s e d f o r a l i m i t e d c o m b i n e d d u r a t i o n ,
t o p r e v e n t d i s c h a r g i n g o f t h e b a t t e r y .
O n c e t h i s p e r i o d h a s e l a p s e d , a
s w i t c h i n g t o e c o n o m y m o d e m e s s a g e
a p p e a r s o n t h e m u l t i f u n c t i o n d i s p l a y
a n d t h e a c t i v e f u n c t i o n s a r e p u t o n
standby.
T h e s e f u n c t i o n s a r e r e a c t i v a t e d a u t o -
m a t i c a l l y n e x t t i m e t h e v e h i c l e i s d r i v e n .
I n o r d e r t o e x i t t h e e c o n o m y m o d e a n d
resume the use of these functions im-
m e d i a t e l y , t h e e n g i n e m u s t b e s t a r t e d
a n d l e f t t o r u n f o r a f e w m i n u t e s .
If the engine has been running for at
l e a s t 1 0 m i n u t e s , a l l o f t h e f u n c t i o n s
a r e a c t i v e f o r 3 0 m i n u t e s .
If the engine has been running for less
t h a n 1 0 m i n u t e s , t h i s d u r a t i o n b e f o r e r e -
turning to economy mode is 5 minutes. All of these functions are
a v a i l a b l e w h e n t h e e n g i n e i s
running.
I f t h e t e l e p h o n e i s b e i n g u s e d
w h e n e c o n o m y m o d e s t a r t s , i t w i l l s t i l l
b e p o s s i b l e t o i n i s h t h e c a l l .
LOAD REDUCTION FUNCTION
W h e n d r i v i n g , c e r t a i n f u n c t i o n s ( a i r
c o n d i t i o n i n g , h e a t e d r e a r s c r e e n ,
h e a t i n g s y s t e m f o r p a s s e n g e r c o m -
p a r t m e n t o f d i e s e l v e h i c l e s , e t c . ) m a y
b e s w i t c h e d o f f t e m p o r a r i l y , d e p e n d i n g
o n t h e l e v e l o f b a t t e r y c h a r g e .
R e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e s e f u n c t i o n s i s a u -

Replacing a blade

the arm.

i g n i t i o n a n d o p e r a t e t h e w i n d s c r e e n
w i p e r s t a l k . A l a t b a t t e r y p r e v e n t s t h e e n -
gine from starting.
I f t h e d o o r s o r b o o t a r e o p e n e d
s e v e r a l t i m e s o r i f t h e a l a r m i s
t r i g g e r e d , t h i s m a y r e s u l t i n a c t i v a t i o n
of the energy economy mode.

The RT4 GPS audio/telephone is coded in such a
way that it will only operate in your vehicle. If i t is to be
installed in another vehicle, contact your PEUGEOT
d e a l e r f o r c o n i g u r a t i o n o f t h e s y s t e m .
For safety reasons, it is imperative that the drive r carries
out operations which require prolonged attention wh ile
the vehicle is stationary.
When the engine is switched off and to prevent
discharging of the battery, the RT4 audio/telephone may
switch off after a few minutes. CONTENTS

The quality of reception
of the radio station
listened to gradually
deteriorates or the
stored stations do
not function (no
sound, 87.5 Mhz is
d i s p l a y e d . . . ) . The vehicle is too far from the transmitter used by
the station listened to or
there is no transmitter in the geographical area th rough which the vehicle
is travelling.
T h e e n v i r o n m e n t ( h i l l s , b u i l d i n g s , t u n n e l s , b a s e m e n t c a r p a r k s . . . ) b l o c k
reception, including in RDS mode.
The aerial is absent or has been damaged (for examp le when going
t h r o u g h a c a r w a s h o r i n t o a n u n d e r g r o u n d c a r p a r k ) .Activate the RDS function to enable the system
to check whether there is a more powerful
transmitter in the geographical area.
This phenomenon is normal and does not
indicate a failure of the audio equipment.
Have the aerial checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Sound cut-outs of 1
to 2 seconds in radio
mode. During this brief sound cut-out, the RDS searches f
or any frequency
permitting better reception of the station. Deactivate the RDS function if the phenomenon
is too frequent and always on the same route.
With the engine off,
the audio equipment
switches off after a few
minutes of use. When the engine is switched off, the audio equipmen
t operating time
depends on the battery charge.
The switch-off is normal: the audio equipment switc hes to economy mode
and switches off to prevent discharging of the vehi cle’s battery.Start the vehicle’s engine to increase the battery
charge.
The message "the audio
system is overheated"
appears on the display. Switch the audio system off for a few minutes to
allow the system to cool.
In order to protect the installation if the surroun
ding temperature is too
high, the audio equipment switches to an automatic thermal protection
mode leading to a reduction of the volume or stoppi ng of the playing of the
CD.
