CHANGING A WINDSCREEN
WIPER BLADE
Placing the wiper blades in the
special position
F Less than a minute after switching
off the ignition, operate the wipers
stalk to position the wiper blades
along the windscreen uprights
(special position).
A lat battery will prevent
the engine from starting.
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with
the key in the accessories position,
certain functions (windscreen wiper,
electric windows, courtesy lights,
audio equipment, etc.) can only be
used for a cumulative duration of
thirty minutes, to prevent discharging
the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the
message "Economy mode active"
appears on the multifunction display
and the active functions are put on
standby.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let
it run for a few seconds.
Changing a front wiper blade
F
Lift the wiper arm, then discon-
nect the windscreen-wash pipe.
F Unclip the blade and remove it.
F Fit the new blade.
F Reconnect the windscreen-wash
pipe and push back the wiper arm.
To return the windscreen wipers
to their normal position, switch
on the ignition and operate the
wipers stalk.
Changing the rear wiper blade
F Lift the wiper arm, then unclip the
blade and remove it.
F Fit the new blade and push back

BATTERY
To charge the battery using a
battery charger:
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger manu-
facturer,
- Reconnect starting with the nega- tive (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and con- nectors are clean. If they are cov-
ered with sulphate (white or green-
ish deposit), disconnect them and
clean them. - Before disconnecting the
battery, you must wait for
2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
- Never disconnect a terminal when the engine is running.
- Never charge a battery without irst disconnecting the terminals.
- Close the windows and sunroof before disconnecting the battery.
If they do not operate normally
following reconnection of the bat-
tery, they must be reinitialised (see
sections "Electric windows - Safety
auto-reverse" and "Sunroof - Safe-
ty auto-reverse".
- After every reconnection of the bat- tery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to allow
the electronic systems to be initial-
ised. If slight dificulties are experi-
enced after this, please contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
To start the vehicle from another
battery:
- Connect the red cable to the posi-
tive (+) terminals of the two batter-
ies,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-) ter-
minal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on
the broken down vehicle as far as
possible from the battery.
Operate the starter, let the engine
run.
Wait for the engine to return to idle,
then disconnect the cables.
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be
used for a period of more than one
month.

TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
Without lifting
(4 wheels on the road)
You should always use a tow bar.
The removable towing eye is inside
the engine compartment.From the rear:
F
Unclip the top of the cover using a
coin,
F Screw in the removable towing
eye until it locks.
When towing with the en-
gine switched off, there is
no braking or steering as-
sistance.
Special features of the
automatic gearbox
When being towed with four wheels
on the road, it is essential to observe
the following rules:
- selector lever in position N,
- tow the vehicle at a speed below 30 mph (50 km/h) over a distance
limited to 30 miles (50 km) maxi-
mum,
- do not add oil to the gearbox.
From the front:
F Unclip the cover by pressing the
bottom part.
F Screw in the removable towing
eye until it locks.
Lifting (2 wheels on the road
only)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle
using professional lifting equipment.

Lighting
Manual adjustment
Adjust your headlamps so as not to
dazzle other road users. Check the
electrical signalling of the trailer.
(see section on "Manual adjustment
of headlamps").
Note:
in certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the maximum
load up a steep slope in high tem-
peratures), the engine automatically
limits its power. In this case, cutting
off the air conditioning allows the
engine power to be recovered, and
therefore the towing speed to be sig-
niicantly increased (approximately
12 mph [20 km/h] more).
If the coolant temperature warning
light comes on, stop the vehicle and
switch off the engine as soon as pos-
sible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle (see section on
"The identiication features of your
vehicle") and of the trailer, observing
the recommended pressure.
Brakes: towing increases the brak-
ing distance. Drive at a moderate
speed, change down early and brake
gradually.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT ETC...
Only use original PEUGEOT tow
bars which have been tested and
approved from the design stage of
your vehicle.
The tow bar must be itted by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Automatic adjustment
For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, this
system automatically corrects the
height of the beam, whatever the
load of the vehicle. The driver is then
assured of having optimum lighting
and not causing a nuisance to other
road users.
Driving advice
Distribution of loads: distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heavi-
est loads are as close as possible to
the axle and the nose weight is close
to the maximum authorised without,
however, exceeding it.
Cooling: towing a trailer on a slope
increases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically controlled,
its cooling capacity is not dependent
on the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed, and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the cool-
ant temperature.

USING ROOF BARS
To use the transverse roof bars, re-
lease the four locking levers provided
for this purpose.
From the left-hand side, slide them in
their rails to the required notch.
Lock the four locking levers located
at the base of the feet of each bar.Note:
when the roof bars are not in
use, position them at the rear stop to
avoid excess consumption.
Use accessories approved by Auto-
mobiles PEUGEOT and follow the
manufacturer's itting instructions.
Maximum authorised weight on
the roof rack 220 lbs. (100 kg). Removal and reitting of the roof
bars
- Remove the bolt, the stop and the
two washers at each location A.
- Move the bars to the locations A.
- Lift the two bars to remove them.
- Imperative: reit the bolt, the stop
and the two washers at each loca-
tion A.
To reit, proceed in the reverse order.
