THE KEYS
The keys allow you to switch on the
ignition and operate the passenger
air bag disarming switch as well as
to independently operate the locks
on the front doors, the fuel iller cap
and the glove box.
STARTING
STOP position:
The ignition is off.
1st notch, MAR (Accessories)
position:
The ignition is off but the accessories
can be used.
AVV (Starting) position:
Operates the starter.
PARK position:
Position enabling you to leave the
side lights on when parked, with the
ignition off and the key removed.
The remote control key
Locking
Press button
A to lock the vehicle.
Unlocking
Press button B to unlock the vehicle.
Central locking
From the driver's door, the keys allow
you to lock and unlock the front, pas-
senger and rear doors.
If one of the doors is open, it is impos-
sible to operate the central locking.
The remote control performs the
same functions at a distance.

FRONT SEATS
Driver and passenger (single)
seats
Note: the two-seat passenger bench
seats cannot be adjusted.
1. Head restraint height
adjustment.
Never travel with the head
restraints removed.
2. Seat lumbar adjustment
(driver's seat).
3. Seat back angle adjustment.
4. Seat height adjustment

Heated seats
The temperature is regulated auto-
matically in relation to the passenger
compartment temperature.

AIR BAGS
The air bag system has been de-
signed to maximise the safety of the
occupants in the event of serious
collisions. It works in conjunction with
the seat belts.
Front air bags
These are folded in the centre of the
steering wheel for the driver and in
the fascia for the front passenger.
They are deployed simultaneously,
except in cases where the passenger
air bag is disarmed.
Precautions regarding the
passenger air bag
F disarm the air bag if you install a
rear-facing child seat,
F activate the air bag for an adult
passenger. Disarming the passenger air bag*
F
With the ignition off, insert the
ignition key into the passenger
air bag switch 1 and turn it to the
"OFF" position.
As soon as you remove the child
seat, turn the air bag switch to the
"ON" position, to activate the air bag
again.
Side air bags*
Side air bags are incorporated into
the front seat back frame, on the
door side.
They are deployed independently of
each other, on whichever side the
collision occurs.
* According to country.
Operating check
With the ignition switched on
(1st notch), illumination of
this warning light indicates
that the passenger air bag
is disarmed (switch in the "OFF"
position).
The warning light remains on until
the air bag is reactivated.

ELECTRIC WINDOWS
1. Driver's electric window
2. Passenger's electric window
Manual mode:
F Press or pull the switch lightly.
The window stops as soon as the
switch is released.
Automatic mode:
F Press or pull the switch irmly.
One touch completely opens or
closes the window (driver's side).
ELECTRIC EXTERIOR
MIRRORS
The exterior mirrors are divided into
two zones.
F Turn control 3 to the right or left to
select the corresponding mirror.
F Move the control in all four direc-
tions to adjust.
F Return the control to position 0.
STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT
ADJUSTMENT
F When stationary, pull the control E
to unlock the steering wheel.
F Adjust the height of the steering
wheel.
F Lock it by pushing control E fully.

FILLING WITH FUEL
This operation must be carried out
with the engine switched off .
F Open the fuel iller lap by pressing
the front of it.
F Insert the key then turn it to the
left.
F Remove the cap and hook it onto
the hook on the inside of the lap.
An indication on the cap shows which
type of fuel to use.
When you ill your tank, do not con-
tinue after the third cut-off of the pump.
This could cause a malfunction. The capacity of the tank is
approximately 70 litres.
F
After illing the tank, lock the cap
and close the lap.
OPENING THE BONNET
Inside the vehicle: Push the control
on the right-hand side, under the fas-
cia panel.
Outside the vehicle: Lift the
control, raise the bonnet and
secure the strut to keep the
bonnet open.
Low fuel level warning
light
From the time this light
comes on, you have
approx-
imately 8 litres of fuel left.

"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC
SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC
GEARBOX
The four-speed automatic gearbox
offers a choice between the comfort
of automatic integral regulation en-
hanced by a snow programme, or the
pleasure of manual gear changing .
Gear selection gate
F Move the lever in the gate to
select one of the functions.
Once the function is selected, the indicator light for that function is
displayed on the instrument panel
screen. W:
snow programme.
P ark: to immobilise the vehicle or to
start the engine , with the handbrake
on or off.
R everse: to reverse (select this
function with the vehicle stationary
and the engine at idle).
N eutral: to start the engine or to
park , with the handbrake on.
Note: if position N is engaged by
mistake while the car is moving,
allow the engine to return to idling
speed before engaging function D to
accelerate.
D rive: for automatic gear changing.
M anual: for manual gear changing.
To change the four gears manually:
F Push the lever to the + symbol
to change up a gear and pull
the lever towards the - symbol to
change down a gear.
Note: the W (snow) programme does
not operate when in manual mode. When the engine is idling
with the brakes not applied, if
function
R, D or M is selected,
the vehicle moves without the
accelerator being pressed.
For this reason, do not
leave children unsuper-
vised inside the vehicle,
with the engine running .

Moving Off
With the engine running, to move off
from position
P:
F It is essential to press the brake
pedal and control A to exit
position P,
F Select the function R, D or M , then
gradually release the pressure on
the brake pedal and control A; the
vehicle will move off immediately.
You can also move off from position N:
F Release the handbrake, with your
foot on the brake.
F Select function R, D or M, then
gradually release the pressure on
the brake pedal; the vehicle will
move off immediately.
