INSTRUMENT PANEL
DISPLAY
After switching on the ignition, three
functions are shown in succession:
- service indicator,
- engine oil level indicator,
- total distance recorder/total and trip distances.
Service indicator
This informs you of the distance
remaining to the service in conform-
ity with the manufacturer's servicing
schedule.
Operation
For a few seconds after the ignition
has been switched on, the spanner
symbolising a service lights up; the
display for the total distance recorder
tells you the distance remaining be-
fore your next service.
The values displayed by the service
indicator before the next service are
the following: 30 000 km, 2 000 km,
200 km, 100 km and 50 km. Consult
the servicing booklet.
Example: 2 000 km remain before
the next service is due. When the
ignition is switched on and for a few
seconds, the display shows:
Zero re-set
Your PEUGEOT dealer carries out
this operation after each service.
However, if you carry out the service
yourself, the re-set procedure is as
follows:
F Place the ignition key in the MAR
position (1st notch) and wait until
the spanner stops lashing,
F Press the trip recorder re-set but-
ton for ive seconds.
The distance remaining to the next
service is displayed.
F Press the trip distance recorder
zero reset button for ive seconds to
store the operation in the memory.
Important: after this operation, if you
wish to disconnect the battery, lock
the vehicle and wait for at least ive
minutes, otherwise the zero re-set
will not be registered.

Engine oil level indicator
When the ignition is switched on, the
engine oil level is indicated for a few
seconds, after the servicing informa-
tion.
Maximum
Check the level using the dipstick to
conirm whether the display is cor-
rect; a surplus of oil can cause dam-
age to the engine.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without
delay.
Minimum
Check the level with the dipstick and
top it up. The igure shown is only
correct if the vehicle has been on lev-
el ground, with the engine stopped,
for 10 minutes.Minimum oil level gauge fault
Flashing of the segments indicates a
fault in the oil level gauge
or a lack
of oil.
There is a risk the engine will be
damaged.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Maximum oil level gauge fault
Flashing of the squares indicates a
fault in the oil level gauge or a sur-
plus of oil.
There is a risk the engine will be
damaged.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer. Excessive oil level
Check the level using the dipstick to
conirm whether the display is cor-
rect, a surplus of oil can cause dam-
age to the engine.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without
delay.
Trip recorder zero reset
button
With the ignition on, press the button
until the zeros appear.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
On/off
ADJUSTING THE VOLUMEAdjusting the bass
With the ignition
key in the STOP
or ignition position,
press button B for
more than 2 seconds to switch the
set on or off.
The set can operate for 20 minutes
without the vehicle ignition being
switched on. Press button
A
several times in
succession to de-
crease the volume,
or button C to in-
crease it.
Continuous pres-
sure on buttons A
and C allows a gradual adjustment of
the volume.
AUDIO SETTINGS
Press button Q sev-
eral times in succes-
sion to access the
bass (BASS) , treble
(TREBLE) , front/rear sound distri-
bution (FADER) and right/left sound
distribution (BALANCE) settings.
Exit from audio mode is automatic
after a few seconds without pressing
any button, or by pressing button Q
after coniguration of the last audio
setting.
Press button Q for more than two
seconds to activate or deactivate the
loudness (LOUD).
Note: bass and treble settings are
speciic to each source. It is possible
to set them differently for radio, cas-
sette or CD.
CUTTING OFF/RESTORING
THE SOUND
Pressing button B activates or deac-
tivates the "MUTE" function. Pressing
button A or C also restores the sound. When
"BASS" is
displayed, press
button J or L to
vary the setting.
- "-6" for a minimum bass setting,
- "0" for a normal setting,
- "+6" for a maximum bass setting.
Anti-theft system
The audio system is coded in such a
way that it can operate only on your
vehicle. It would not function if itted
to another vehicle.
The anti-theft system is automatic
and requires no action on your
part. Adjusting the treble
When
"TREBLE" is displayed, press
button J or L to vary the setting.
- "-6" for a minimum treble setting,
- "0" for a normal setting,
- "+6" for a maximum treble setting.
Adjusting the front/rear sound
distribution (Fader)
When "FADER" is displayed, press
button J or L.
Button J increases the volume in the
front.
Button L increases the volume in the
rear.

Adjusting the right/left sound
distribution (Balance)
When "BALANCE" is displayed,
press button J or L.
Button J increases the volume on the
right-hand side.
Button L increases the volume on the
left-hand side.
Activation/Deactivation of the
loudness (Loud)
This function permits
automatic accentua-
tion of the bass and
treble.
Press button Q for more than two
seconds to activate or deactivate the
function.
A conirmation bleep is heard, ac-
companied by the associated mes-
sage "LOUD ON" or "LOUD OFF" .RADIO
Notes on radio reception
Your car radio is subject to phenom-
ena which do not affect domestic
radio sets. Both AM (MW/LW) and
FM reception are subject to various
forms of interference. This is no re-
lection on the quality of the equip-
ment, but is due to the nature of the
signals and the way in which they are
transmitted.
On MW/LW, interference may be
noticed when passing under high
voltage power lines or bridges, or in
tunnels.
On FM, interference may be the result
of increasing distance from the trans-
mitter, delection of the signals by
obstacles (mountains, hills, buildings,
etc.), or of being in an area which is
not covered by a transmitter. Selecting radio mode
Press the "SRC-SC"

Selecting a waveband Briely press the
"BN-AS" button to
select the FM1, FM2,
FMT, MW and LW
wavebands .
Scanning stations
Press the "SRC-SC" button for more
than two seconds. You will then
hear each station on the selected
waveband for approximately ten
seconds. If you are interested in
one of the stations found, press the
"SRC-SC" button to stop the scan at
this station.

To make a direct search in "SENS DX"
sensitivity, press the
"MENU PS" button
to access the menu. Then press
button J or L to display "SENS LO" ,
then button K or M to change the
sensitivity. Deactivate the
PTY and RDS
functions by pressing their respective
buttons D and E, if they are active.
Briely press button K or M
respectively to increase or decrease
the frequency displayed.
By continuing to press the button
in the direction selected, you will
obtain continuous scrolling of the
frequency.
The scrolling stops at the irst sta-
tion found as soon as the button is
released. Automatic storing of FM stations
in the memory (autostore)
Automatic station search
Briely press button
J or L to search
for the station immediately above or
below. By continuing to press the
button in the direction selected, you
will obtain continuous scrolling of the
frequency.
The scrolling stops at the irst station
found as soon as the button is
released.
If the TA trafic information program is
selected, only stations broadcasting
this type of program are selected.
Searching for a station occurs irst
in "SENS LO" sensitivity (selection
of the most powerful transmitters)
during scanning of the waveband,
then in "SENS DX" sensitivity
(selection of the weakest and most
distant transmitters). Manual station search
Press and hold the
"BN-AS" button for
more than two sec-
onds.
Your radio automatically stores the
6 stations with the strongest signal in
FM . These stations are stored in the
FMT waveband.
If it is not possible to ind 6 stations,
the remaining memories are empty.
Scanning stored stations
Press the "MENU-
PS" button for more
than two seconds.
You will then hear
each stored station on the selected
waveband for approximately ten sec-
onds. If you are interested in a stored
station, press the "MENU-PS" but-
ton to stop the scan at this station.
Manual storing of stations in the
memory
Select the station required.
Press one of the buttons
"1" to "6"
for more than two seconds.
The sound stops then becomes
audible again, conirming that the
station has been stored in the
memory. Recalling stations stored in the
memory
For each waveband, briely press
buttons
"1" to "6" to recall the cor-
responding station.

RDS
Using the RDS function on FM
The RDS (Radio Data System) al-
lows you to continue listening to the
same station, whatever frequency it
is using for the region you are going
through. Trafic information program Regional following mode (REG)
When they are part of a network,
certain stations broadcast regional
programs in the various areas they
serve. With regional following mode
you can keep listening to the same
program.
Press the "MENU-PS" button to gain
access to the menu.
Press button J or L to display "REG
OFF" , then button K or M to switch
the function on or off.
Briely press the
"AF-
TA" button to switch
the function on or off.
The multi-function dis-
play will show:
- "RDS" if the function is selected.
- "RDS" 'greyed out' if the function
is selected but not available. Press the
"AF-TA"
button for more than
two seconds to switch
the function on or off.
The multi-function display will show:
- "TA" if the function is selected,
- "TA" 'greyed out' if the function is
selected but not available.
If the station is able to transmit traf-
ic information, the symbol "TP" is
displayed when the TA function is
active.
Any trafic information lash will be
given priority, whatever source you
are listening to (radio, cassette or
CD).
If you wish to interrupt a message,
press the "AF-TA" button; this
switches the function off.
Note: the volume of trafic infor-
mation announcements is inde-
pendent of the volume of normal
radio listening. You can adjust
it using the volume button. The
setting will be stored and will be
used when the next messages are
broadcast.
RDS station following
The display indicates the name of the
station selected. The radio is contin-
ually searching for the station which
has the best reception and which is
transmitting the same program.

PTY function
This allows you to listen to stations
broadcasting a speciic type of pro-
gram (news, culture, sport, rock
etc.).EON system
This connects stations which are part
of the same network. It enables the
broadcast of trafic information or of a
PTY
program, by a station that is part
of the same network as the station to
which you are listening.
This service is available when you
have selected the TA trafic informa-
tion program or the PTY function.
Press the "PTY" button for more
than two seconds to switch this func-
tion on or off.
With
FM selected,
press the "PTY" but-
ton to switch this func-
tion on or off.
To search for a
PTY program:
- select the PTY function,
- briely press button K or M to scroll
down the list of the various types of
programs offered,
- when the program of your choice is displayed, keep button K or M
pressed for more than two seconds
to carry out an automatic search
(after an automatic search the PTY
function is switched off). In
PTY mode the different types of
program can be stored in the memo-
ry. To do this, press the preselection
buttons "1" to "6" for more than two
seconds. Press the corresponding
button for less than two seconds to
recall the type of program stored in
the memory.
