Windscreen washing/wiping
The UCH receives the wiper speed, windscreen wiper park position and windscreen washer signals.
This ensures the following functions:
– intermittent wiper speed,
– extended wiper time after washing,
– return to park position.
In the park position, the switch is closed to earth, and the UCH receives logical signal 0.
This function is only active if + after ignition feed is present.
When the + after ignition feed is switched on, if the windscreen wiper park position is not detected, the wiper motor
relay is held.
Operation is interrupted in the following cases:
– wiper request stopped or no request,
–+ after ignition feed switched off,
– UCH reads park position information.
Detection of the park position should be made during transition and not level, that is, if the wiper stalk is moved from
the intermittent position to the park position while the wiper blade is in the park position and the wiper motor is
running, it will not be stopped until the next reading of the park position. This condition is necessary in order to obtain
an exact park position.
Intermittent
The intermittent wiper speed function is only active if the + after ignition is present and if the switch is in the
intermittent position.
The time delay between two wipes is 5 seconds, and this cannot be modified by the diagnostic tool.
When the windscreen intermittent speed function is activated, the windscreen intermitted speed relay is held by the
UCH until the park position is detected. When the intermittent speed time delay has elapsed, the relay is held again
and the cycle begins again.
Extended wiper time after washing
The UCH does not manage the windscreen washer pump command, it only deals with the windscreen washer
command input to provide screen wiping and the extended wiper time after washing.
This function is only active if + after ignition feed is present.
After the washer pump is activated, the first wiping is performed after a time delay of 750 ms.
When the washing control is pressed briefly, the windscreen wiper performs 1 wiping cycle.
When the washing control is pressed for longer, the UCH activates the windscreen wiper throughout the washing
phase. At the end of the washing phase, the UCH counts the park position status changes in order to stop the
extended wiping phase.

Rear screen washing/wiping
The UCH controls a diode relay which is external to the UCH, by transmitting a + 12 V signal.
The drop in the voltage between the UCH supply voltage and this output should not exceed 2 V.
The UCH receives the intermittent wiper speed, rear wiper park and rear screen washer signals.
This ensures the following functions:
– intermittent wiper speed,
– extended wiper time after washing,
– return to park position.
In the park position, the switch is closed to earth, and the UCH receives logical signal 0.
This function is only active if + after ignition feed is present.
When the + after ignition feed is switched on, if the rear wiper park position is not detected, the wiper motor relay is
held.
When the rear intermittent speed function is activated, the rear intermittent speed relay is held by the UCH until the
park position is detected. When the intermittent speed time delay has elapsed, the relay is held again and the cycle
begins again.
Extended wiper time after washing
The UCH does not manage the rear washer pump command.
It only deals with the rear screen washer command input to provide wiping and extended wiping after washing.
This function is only active if + after ignition feed is present.
After the washer pump is activated, the first wiping is performed after a time delay of 750 ms.

Heated rear screen time delay
This output controls a diode relay which is external to the UCH, delivering the power to supply the heated rear
screen.
The de-icing time delay is activated by pressing the heated rear screen button located on the central console front
panel.
The heated rear screen time delay is deactivated:
– by pressing the button again if the time delay between activation and deactivation is less than 50 seconds,
– automatically if the time delay has elapsed,
– directly if there is a cut in the + after ignition feed or engine speed signal.
The minimum time delay between two presses of the button so that the command is taken into account, should not
be less than 200 ms.

PRESENT
OR
STOREDREAR SCREEN WIPER PARK POSITION
NOTESThe fault is declared present following operation of the rear screen wiper.
Special notes: random operation of screen wiping in intermittent speed position (time
delay not respected).
Special Note:
Use Wiring Diagrams Technical Note for Kangoo VLL.
Check that the rear screen park position status ET097 Rear screen park position is ACTIVE each time the wiper
blade arrives at the park position and then changes back to INACTIVE.
Check the connection and condition of the connectors of the UCH, component code 645, of the passenger
compartment fuse and relay box, component code 260, of the rear screen wiper relay, component code 1041, of
the rear screen wiper motor, component code 21 and of the wiper stalk, component code 145.
If the connector(s) are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector, otherwise replace the wiring.
Check the insulation, continuity and the absence of interference resistance on the following connections:
•AP7 between components 1041 and 260,
•36A between components 1041 and 645,
•36G of component 1041 and 36A of component 211,
•NA between component 1041 and earth,
•36C of component 645 and AP3 of component 211,
•MG between component 211 and earth.
If the connection or connections are faulty and if there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A,
Electrical wiring repair, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace the wiring.
Check the connection and condition of the rear screen wiper motor connector, component code 211.
If the connector is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,

Check the operation and fitting of the rear screen wiper motor.
The rear screen wiper motor may need to be replaced (see MR 374 Mechanical, 85A, Wiping - Washing, Rear
screen wiper motor: Removal - Refitting).
If the fault is still present, contact the Techline.
