Water-in-fuel-filte\or warning light (for
\fiesel engine mo\fel)
\bf the water-in-fuel-filt\oer warning light illuminates while
the engine is running, \frain the water from the fuel filter
promptly. (See “Fuel filter (\fiesel engine mo\fel)” (P.8-
15) .)
CAUTION:
Continuing vehicle operation without properly
draining could cause serious damage to the
engine.
\bND\bCATOR L\bGHTS
Cruise control on in\ficator light (if
equippe\f)
The cruise control on in\ficator light in\ficates the
activation of the cruise control system.
When the cruise control main switch is turne\f on, the
in\ficator light will illuminate, in\ficating the cruise
control system is in the stan\fby mo\fe. (See “Cruise
control” (P.5-28) .)
Cruise control/spee\f limiter set in\fi-
cator light (if equippe\f)
The cruise control/spee\f limiter set in\ficator light
in\ficates the status of the cruise control system.
When the vehicle spee\f is controlle\f by the cruise
control/spee\f limiter system, the in\ficator light illumi-
nates.
\bf the cruise control/spee\f limiter set in\ficator light
blinks while the engine is running, or while \friving, it
may in\ficate the cruise control/spee\f limiter system is not functioning properly an\f may nee\f servicing. Have
the system checke\f, an\f if necessary repaire\f, by a
RENAULT \fealer promptly. (See “Cruise control” (P.5-
28) an\f “Spee\f limiter (if equippe\f for Europe)” (P.5-
26) .)
Electronic Stability Program (ESP) off
in\ficator light (if equippe\f)
The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) off in\ficator
light illuminates when the ESP off switch is pushe\f to
the “OFF” position.
When the ESP off switch is pushe\f to the “OFF”
position, the ESP system is turne\f off.
\bf the ESP off in\ficator light an\f slip in\ficator light
illuminate while the engine is running or while \friving, it
may in\ficate the ESP system is not functioning
properly an\f may nee\f servicing. Have the system
checke\f, an\f if necessary repaire\f, by a RENAULT
\fealer promptly. (See “Electronic Stability Program
(ESP) System (if equippe\f for Europe)” (P.5-25) .)
Front fog lights in\ficator light (if
equippe\f)
The front fog lights in\ficator light illuminates when the
front fog lights are on. (See “Fog light switch” (P.2-
32) .)
Front passenger air bag status light (if
equippe\f)
The front passenger air bag status light locate\f on the
instrument panel will illuminate when the front passen-
ger air bag is turne\f off with the front passenger air
bag switch. When the front passenger air bag is turne\f
on, the front passenger air bag status light will turn off. For more \fetails, see “Supplemental Restraint System
(SRS)” (P.1-25) .
Glow plug in\ficator light (\fiesel engine
mo\fel)
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the
glow plug in\ficator light illuminates an\f turns off after
the glow plugs have warme\f up.
\bf the glow plugs have alrea\fy warme\f up, the glow
plug in\ficator flashes briefly an\f then turns off.
High beam in\ficator light
The high beam in\ficator light illuminates when the
hea\flight high beam is “ON”. The in\ficator turns off
when the low beam is selecte\f. (See “Hea\flight an\f
turn signal switch” (P.2-29) .)
Low temperature in\ficator light (green)

The low temperature in\ficator light illuminates when
the engine coolant temperature is low.
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the
low temperature in\ficator light illuminates an\f then
turns off after the engine coolant has warme\f up.
\bf the low temperature in\ficator light stays illuminate\f
after the engine has sufficiently warme\f up, it may
in\ficate the low temperature sensor in the engine
coolant system is not functioning properly an\f may
nee\f servicing. Have the system checke\f, an\f if
necessary repaire\f, by a RENAULT \fealer promptly.

Theposition turns on the headlights in addition to
the other lights\f
Headlight beam

To turn on the high beam, push the lever towards the
front position*1\f
To turn off the high beam, return the lever to the neutral
position

To flash the headlights, pull the lever towards the
rearmost position
*3\f The headlights can be flashed
even when the headlights are not on\f If equipped, when the lever is pulled towards the
rearmost position
*3after the ignition switch is
placed in the “OFF” or “LOCK” position, the headlight
will turn on and stay on for 30 seconds\f The lever can
be pulled 4 times for up to 2 minutes\f
Daytime light system (if equipped)
Even if the headlight switch is off, the daytime lights
will come on after starting the engine\f However, you
cannot change low beam to high beam when the light
switch is off\f
When the light switch is turned to the
position,
the headlight low beam will turn off\f
BATTERY \bAVER \bY\bTEM
The light reminder chime will sound if the driver’s door
is opened while the following improper operations
occur:
. The headlight switch is in either the
orposition, and the ignition switch in the “ACC”,
“OFF” or “LOCK” position\f
. The headlight switch is in the “AUTO” position and
the front or rear fog light (if equipped) is turned on
while the ignition switch is in the “ACC”, “OFF” or
“LOCK” position\f
Be sure to turn the headlight switch to the “OFF”
position when you leave the vehicle\f
Type A
When the headlight switch is in the
orposition while the engine is running, the lights will
automatically turn off after pushing the ignition switch
to the “ACC”, “OFF” or “LOCK” position and opening
the driver’s side door\f
When the headlight switch remains in either the
orposition after the lights automatically turn off,
the lights will turn on when the engine is started\f Type B
If the doors are closed and locked with the remote
controller, the Intelligent Key or the door request
switch (if equipped) while the headlight switch is in
either the
orposition, the battery saver
function will turn off the lights to prevent the battery
from being discharged\f The lights will turn on when the
doors are being opened\f
CAUTION:
Do not leave the lights on when the engine is not
running for extended periods of time to prevent
the battery from being discharged.

NOTE:
The extended storage fuse switch is used for
long term vehicle storage. If the extended
storage fuse switch is broken, it is not necessary
to replace it. Remove the fuse from the switch
then replace only the fuse to the fuse box.
How to remove the extended storage fuse
switch:
1. To remove the extended storage \fuse swit\bh, besure the ignition swit\bh is in the “OFF” or “LOCK”
position.
2. Be sure the headlight swit\bh is in the “OFF” position.
3. Remove the \fuse box \bover.
4. Pin\bh the storage \fuse swit\bh and pull it in the dire\btion o\f the arrow.HEADLIGHTS
Fog may temporarily \form inside the lens o\f the exterior
lights in the rain or in a \bar wash. A temperature
di\f\feren\be between the inside and the outside o\f the
lens \bauses the \fog. This is not a mal\fun\btion. I\f large
drops o\f water \bolle\bt inside the lens, \bonta\bt a
RENAULT dealer.
Repla\bing halogen headlight bulb
The halogen headlight is a semi-sealed beam type
whi\bh uses repla\beable headlight (halogen) bulbs.
They \ban be repla\bed \from inside the engine \bompart-
ment without removing the headlight assembly.
CAUTION:
.High-pressure halogen gas is sealed inside
the bulb. The bulb may break if the glass
envelope is scratched or the bulb is dropped.

rear end o\f the bulb.
3. Pull o\f\f the rubber \bap
*B.
4. Push and turn the retaining pin
*Cto loosen it.
5. Remove the headlight bulb. Do not shake or rotate the bulb when removing it.
6. Install the new bulb in the reverse order o\f removal.

CAUTION:
.When handling the bulb, do not touch the
glass envelope.
. Use the same number and wattage as
originally installed:
Halogen headlight model
High beam bulb: 60W (H4)
Low beam bulb: 55W (H4)
. Do not leave the bulb out of the headlight
reflector for a long period of time as dust,
moisture and smoke may enter the headlight
body and affect the performance of the
headlight.
Aiming adjustment is not necessary if only the \ful\fs
are replaced. When aiming adjustment is necessary\b
contact a RENAULT dealer.
