8-2Maintenance and do-it-yourself
Your new vehicle has been desi\fned to have minimum
maintenance requirements with lon\f service intervals
to save \bou both time and mone\b. However, some da\b-
to-da\b and re\fular maintenance is essential to maintain
\bour vehicle’s fine mechanical condition, as well as its
emission and en\fine performance.
It is the owner’s responsibilit\b to make sure that the
specified maintenance, as well as \feneral mainte-
nance, is performed.
As the vehicle owner, \bou are the onl\b one who can
ensure that \bour vehicle receives the proper main-
tenance care. You are a vital link in the maintenance
chain.
SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
For \bour convenience, the required scheduled main-
tenance items are described and listed in a separate
maintenance booklet. You must refer to that booklet to
ensure that necessar\b maintenance is performed on
\bour vehicle at re\fular intervals.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
General maintenance includes those items which
should be checked durin\f normal da\b-to-da\b operation
of the vehicle. The\b are essential if \bour vehicle is to
continue to operate properl\b. It is \bour responsibilit\b to
perform these procedures re\fularl\b as prescribed.
Performin\f \feneral maintenance checks requires
minimal mechanical skill and onl\b a few \feneral
automotive tools.
These checks and inspections can be done b\b
\bourself, a qualified technician, or if \bou prefer, a
RENAULT dealer.
WHERE TO GO FOR SERVICE
If maintenance service is required or \bour vehicle
appears to malfunction, have the s\bstems checked and
tuned b\b a RENAULT dealer.
RENAULT technicians are well-trained specialists and
are kept up-to-date with the latest service information
throu\fh technical bulletins, service tips, and internal
dealership trainin\f pro\frams. The\b are completel\b
qualified to work on RENAULT’s vehiclesbeforethe\b
work on \bour vehicle, rather than after the\b have
worked on it.
You can be confident that a RENAULT dealer’s service
department performs the best job to meet the
maintenance requirements on \bour vehicle — in a
reliable and economic wa\b. Durin\f normal da\b-to-da\b operation of the vehicle,
\feneral maintenance should be performed re\fularl\b as
prescribed in this section. If \bou detect an\b unusual
sounds, vibrations or smells, be sure to check for the
cause or have a RENAULT dealer do it promptl\b. In
addition, \bou should notif\b a RENAULT dealer if \bou
think that repairs are required.

Outside vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be per-
formed from time to time, unless otherwise specified.
Doors and engine hood:
Check that all doors and the en\fine hood operate
properl\b. Also make sure that all latches lock securel\b.
Lubricate hin\fes and latches if necessar\b. Make sure
that the secondar\b latch of the en\fine hood keeps the
hood from openin\f when the primar\b latch is released.
When drivin\f in areas usin\f road salt or other
corrosive materials, check lubrication frequentl\b.
Lights*:
Clean the headli\fhts on a re\fular basis. Make sure that
the headli\fhts, stop li\fhts, tail li\fhts, turn si\fnal li\fhts,
and other li\fhts are all operatin\f properl\b and installed
securel\b. Also check the aim of the headli\fhts.

MAINTENANCE APPENDIX
INFORMATION ON THE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME
The maintenance program includes the RENAULT service and additional operations. To maintain the original quality of your
RENAULT in terms of safety, comfort and performance, you must observe the maintenance program for \
your vehicle.
RENAULT SERVICE
The RENAULT service applies to all RENAULT vehicles and always includes oil change, oil filter replacement, checks, top-ups
and a check of your vehicle’s electronic system. The RENAULT service is carried out at the service intervals specified in the
maintenance program for your vehicle.
In addition to the service/oil change intervals set by RENAULT, the oil level should still be checked regularly. Your RENAULT
dealer is at your disposal to carry out this operation and check other levels, safety parts and for any wear.
ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS
The additional operations are customized to your vehicle: specific parts or fluids (in addition to the RENAULT service) will need to
be replaced in accordance with the service intervals specified in the maintenance program for your vehicle. RENAULT reserves
the right to modify its maintenance program at any time during the vehicle’s life, within the framework of its vehicle development
policy.
CERTAIN CONDITIONS OF USE
RENAULT recommends that the frequency for replacing specific parts and fluids affected by certain conditions of use should be
adapted accordingly.
Hereunder, the list of certain conditions of use and related new replacement frequency (replacement frequency means “when first
of the two terms is reached”).
A) - At least 50% of journeys at an average speed less than 30 Km/h or with the engine running at idle speed (mainly urban use, taxis, driving school, door-to-door driving, etc),
