With the ignition switched on and the engine not running ,
when the message “Mileage before next service” is displayed,
press button 2 or 3 for around 5 seconds to display the mile-
age before the next service, then briefly press button 2 or 3 to
view the mileage before the next oil change (distance or time
remaining before the next service). When the distance value ap-
proaches its limit, there are several possible scenarios:
– distance/time remaining less than 900 miles (1,500 km) or
one month : the message “Service due in” is displayed ac-
companied by the nearest term (distance or time);
– range equal to 0 km/miles or service date reached: the
message “service vehicle” is displayed accompanied by the
© warning light.
The vehicle requires an oil change as soon as possible.

Depending on the vehicle, the mileage before an oil change varies accord\
ing to the driving style (frequent driving at low speed ,
door-to-door journeys, extensive use at idling speed, towing a trailer, etc.). The distance remaining until the next oil change can
therefore decrease more quickly in some cases than the actual distance t\
ravelled.
Resetting: to reset the mileage before the next service, press and hold button 2 or 3 for approximately 10 seconds until the
display shows the mileage before service without flashing.
NB: if a service is performed without changing the engine oil, only the mi\
leage before the next service should be reset. In the
event of an oil change, both the distance before the next service and th\
e next oil change should be reset.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF PETROL VERSIONS
Do not park the vehicle or
run the engine in locations
where combustible sub-
stances or materials such
as grass or leaves can come into
contact with the hot exhaust system.
The following operating conditions
should be avoided:
– driving for long periods when the low fuel level warning light is lit;
– using leaded petrol;
– using fuel or lubrication additives which are not approved.
Or operating faults such as:
– faulty ignition, running out of fuel or disconnected spark plugs resulting
in the engine misfiring or cutting out
when driving;
– loss of power,
may cause the catalytic converter to
overheat, reducing its efficiency which
may irreparably damage it and cause
heat damage to the vehicle. If you notice any of the above operating
faults, have the necessary repairs car-
ried out as soon as possible by an ap-
proved dealer.
These faults may be avoided by regu-
larly taking your vehicle to an approved
Dealer at the intervals specified in the
Maintenance Document.
Starting problems
To avoid damaging the catalytic con-
verter,
do not keep trying to start the
engine (using the start button, or by
pushing or towing the vehicle) without
having identified and corrected the
cause of the fault.
If the fault cannot be identified, do not
continue to try and start the engine, but
contact an approved dealer.

ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (2/3)Special cases
When parking on a slope or towing a
trailer, pull switch 3 for a few seconds
to obtain the maximum braking effect.
To park the vehicle without applying the
electronic parking brake (if there is a
risk of freezing, for example):
– with the engine running and RENAULT card in reader 4, switch
off the engine by pressing engine
Start/Stop button 1;
– select a gear (manual gearbox) or position P (automatic gearbox);
– depress the brake pedal and press switch 3 at the same time;
– remove the RENAULT card from the card reader.
Brief stopTo manually activate the electronic
parking brake, (when stopping at a red
light, or stopping when the engine is
running, etc.): pull and release switch 3.
The brake is released as soon as the

Tyres
– An underinflated tyre increases fuel consumption.
– The use of non-recommended tyres can increase fuel consumption.Advice on use
– Electricity is fuel; switch off all the electrical components which are
not really needed. However (safety
first), keep your lights on when the
visibility is bad (“see and be seen”).
– Use the air vents. Driving with the windows open at 60 mph (100 km/h)
will increase fuel consumption by
4%.
– Never fill the fuel tank right to the brim to avoid overflow. –
In vehicles fitted with air condi-
tioning, it is normal to observe an
increase in fuel consumption (es-
pecially in urban conditions) when
it is used. For vehicles fitted with
manual air conditioning, switch off
the system when it is not required.
Advice for reducing consumption
and therefore helping to preserve
the environment:
If the vehicle has been parked in the
sun, open the doors for a few mo-
ments to let the hot air escape before
starting the engine.
– Do not leave an empty roof rack fitted to the vehicle.
– It is better to fit a trailer for bulky ob- jects.
– When towing a caravan, fit a wind deflector and adjust it carefully.
– Avoid using the car for door-to-door calls (short journeys with long waits
in between) because the engine
never reaches its normal operating
temperature.

Operating faults
– When driving , if the “Check auto
gearbox” message appears on the
instrument panel, it indicates a fault.
Contact your approved Dealer as
soon as possible.
– When driving , if the message “Auto
gearbox overheating” appears on the
instrument panel, stop the vehicle to
allow the gearbox to cool down.
Contact your approved Dealer as
soon as possible.
– If a vehicle with an automatic
gearbox breaks down, refer to the
information on “Towing” in Section 5. When setting off,
if the lever is locked
in position P, even though you are de-
pressing the brake pedal and pressing
the unlocking button 10, the lever can
still be released manually. To do this,
unclip the base of the gear lever star-
ting on the side below the heating and
air conditioning controls A, press the
button 11 and at the same time, press
the release button 10 on the lever.

Tyre pressures should be checked
when the tyres are cold.
If the tyre pressures cannot be checked
when the tyres are cold, increase the
pressures from 0.2 to 0.3 bar (or 3 PSI).
Never deflate a hot tyre. B

Hubcap tool 4This tool is used to remove the wheel
trims.
Wheel bolt guide 5For tightening/loosening wheel bolts on
vehicles fitted with alloy wheels
Towing hitch 6Please see “Towing: breakdown recov-

Lever 7This tightens or releases the tow eye 6.
The presence of the tools depends on
the vehicle.
Wheelbrace 1Locks or unlocks the wheel bolts and
tow eye 6.
Jack 2Fold it correctly before refitting it in its
housing (ensure that wheelbrace 3 is
correctly positioned).
TOOLS (1/2)
Do not leave the tools un-
secured inside the vehicle
as they may come loose
under braking. After use,
check that all the tools are correctly
clipped into the tool kit, then posi-
tion it correctly in its housing: risk of
injury.
If wheel bolts are supplied in the
tool kit, only use these bolts for the
emergency spare wheel: refer to the
label affixed to the emergency spare
wheel.
The jack is designed for wheel
changing purposes only. Under no
circumstances should it be used for
carrying out repairs underneath the
vehicle or to gain access to the un-
derside of the vehicle.
