Adjusting station tracking settings (SETUP)
–In the RADIO main menu, press the button to open the
Radio settings menu.
– The press the function button and press an
option to select or in the pop-up window by
pressing page 22, “Station tracking and RDS regional”.RDS and radio text
The station names of RDS-compatible radio stations are displayed on the
screen provided the reception is strong enough.
Some RDS-compatible stations also transmit additional text known as radio
text. Radio text can also be displayed on the screen.
Not all radio stations support RDS and radio text.
The individual radio station is responsible for the information displayed.
Changing stored radio station names
If an RDS-compatible radio station broadcasts additional information (radio
text) while the station is being stored, the name of the radio station may
subsequently be incorrectly displayed.
In this case, you can change the displayed station name manually.
Select the stored station and wait until the correct name appears on the
screen. If you then briefly press th e setting knob, the text currently displayed
on the screen will be stored as the station name. Station tracking and RDS regional
FM radio stations broadcast under the same name on several different
regional frequencies. Some of these “broadcasting stations” temporarily or
always broadcast different content according to region under the name
name.
As the default setting, the automatic station tracking always switches auto-
matically to the radio station's frequency that offers the best reception, as the
vehicle travels from one area to the next (setting:
).
This can, however, result in a regional radio programme being interrupted as
the unit switches to another frequency with a better reception, on which the
same radio station is broadcast fr om a different regional broadcasting
station.
If you change the setting to when travelling through the broadcasting
range of a radio station, the radio-navigation system will attempt for as long
as possible to tune only to alternative frequencies for the selected regional
broadcasting station.

24Traffic announcements will interrupt the active audio mode. The radio will
switch to the traffic news station for the duration of the traffic announcement.
The media mode will be paused for the duration of the traffic announcement.
If no TP station can be received at any time, e.g. because radio reception is
generally poor, then No TP is displayed instead of TP. Keep in mind that in
covered garages, tunnels, areas with tall buildings or mountains, the radio
signal may encounter interference, perhaps even being lost completely.
On the AM frequency band, traffic news monitoring with the traffic news func-
tion is not possible. No TP is displayed permanently.
EON (Enhanced Other Network)
If the selected radio station does not broadcast its own traffic news, but does
support EON (Enhanced Other Network), the unit will temporarily switch over
to play traffic announcements from a corresponding traffic news station as
they are broadcast. This happens only when the traffic news function is
switched on and the corresponding traffic news station can be received.
If this is the case, pressing the button will not make the unit switch to a
traffic news station. The traffic news function remains active and TP is
displayed.
Search function and traffic news monitoring
If traffic news monitoring is switched on in FM mode, you will only be offered
traffic news stations when carrying out a station search with the arrow
buttons page 15 or using the scan function page 17.
While the unit is in FM mode and the traffic news function is switched on, if
you select via the station buttons or manually tune to a radio station that does
not support the traffic news function, the text NO TP will flash on the display
for three seconds. NO TP is then displayed permanently. The unit will remain
tuned to the selected station. Only when you switch to media mode will the
unit automatically retune in the background to the next receivable traffic
news station and TP will appear again on the display.
In FM mode , the text NO TP will flash for three seconds when the reception of
the selected traffic news station is completely lost. NO TP is then displayed permanently. If you start the automatic station search with the arrow buttons
page 15, the unit searches for the next traffic news station it can receive.
In media mode the unit will automatically retune in the background to the
next receivable traffic news station when the selected traffic news station can
no longer be received.
Incoming traffic announcement
A pop-up window opens page 23, fig. 18 while a traffic announcement is
being played.
If you wish to stop the traffic announcement, press the function
button in the pop-up window. The traffic station function remains active and
plays the next traffic bulletin received. Press the function button to
fully deactivate the TP function.
The unit switches to a predefined volume for the duration of the traffic
announcement. You can adjust the predefined volume in the sound settings
main menu page 12. During a traffic announcement, you can alter the
predefined volume with the volume control page 3, fig. 1 .

MEDIA-IN multi-media interface (MDI)Description
The MEDIA-IN multi-media interface provides users with a
USB connector and an AUX connector. Depending on the
vehicle, this interface is located in the central console or
underneath the central armrest between the front seats.
Depending on the vehicle's unit, the followin g is possible from the radio-navi-
gation unit through the MEDIA-IN interface:•Play and operate audio files from a mass storage medium or MP3 player
with USB connection. The MEDIA-IN multi-media interface supplies the usual
USB voltage of 5 volts.•Play and operate audio files from an iPod. In this case, the iPod must be
connected using the cable or special SEAT adapter support. In the case of the
León, the "AUX2 Input" option must be enabled in the Media Settings menu
(MEDIA →SETUP) for audio playback of an iPod.•Play audio files from an external medium connected to the AUX socket.
External audio sources connected to the AUX socket of the MEDIA-IN interface
can be played through the radio-navigation system but cannot be operated.
Consult the specific manufacturer's instruction manual for operating the
external audio source. The external audio source will continue to play until it
is switched off, despite another source starting to play in the radio-navigation
system. In the case of the León, the "AUX2 Input" option must be selected in
the Media Settings menu (MEDIA →SETUP) for audio playback of a device
connected to the AUX socket.

42•If the vehicle is equipped with a Rear Seat Entertainment system, audio
from a portable multi-media device connected to the AUX RSE socket can be
played through the radio-navigation system. To play audio from a device
connected to this socket, enable the "AUX2 Input" option in the Media
Settings menu (MEDIA →SETUP) . Make sure no other multi-media device or
audio cable is connected to the MEDIA-IN interface, as these take playback
priority over the AUX2 input. Refer to the Rear Seat Entertainment system
manual for further information.WARNING
The risk of injury during a sudden braking manoeuvre or in an accident is
increased if the glove compartment cover or armrest is open.•Always keep the glove compartment and armrest closed while the
vehicle is in motion.WARNING
Loose objects inside the vehicle may obstruct the driver and lead to serious
injuries.•The external audio data medium must never be placed on the instru-
ment panel. A sudden driving manoeuvre could cause the device to be flung
through the vehicle interior and injure occupants.•The external audio source must never be placed close to an airbag. If an
airbag is triggered, the device could be flung towards the compartment and
injure the vehicle passengers.•Occupants must not have the data medium in their hands or placed on
their legs while the vehicle is in motion. A sudden driving manoeuvre could
cause the device to be flung through the vehicle interior and injure occu-
pants.•The wires connecting the external data medium must be arranged so
they do not obstruct you when driving.
Note
•Only audio files readable through the MEDIA-IN socket will be displayed
and played. Where a medium connected contains damaged files or files in
unreadable formats, these will not be displayed.•USB connection takes priority over the MEDIA-IN interface AUX socket.
Either of these, or an iPod adapter where applicable, takes priority over the
AUX RSE socket. Therefore, to play audio from a medium connected to the
AUX RSE socket, make sure there is no device or cable connected to the
MEDIA-IN interface.•You can disconnect the connection with the external medium whenever
required without losing data, independent to the indications of the external
data media.External data media requirements •The unit only supports external data media and USB mass storage devices
that comply with the USB 2.0 specifications.•External data media must use a FAT file system, either FAT16 (< 2 GB) or
FAT32 (> 2 GB) (FAT: File Allocation Table)•In the case of MTP players (Media Transfer Protocol), which have the
“PlaysForSure” or “ReadyForVista” logo, factors such as the battery status
and the quantity of data may affect the way these devices respond to commu-
nication via the MEDIA-IN multi-media interface. It may take several minutes
before the MTP player is ready to play.•When playing files from large hard drive memories with many files and
complex file structures (a large number of folders and subfolders, non-play-
able files, etc.), there may be delays in the reading of audio files. The
connected device may also affect the unit's response time.•The folder structure on the external data medium should not have more
than eight folder levels. A folder should not contain more than 1000 items.

46•The CD should be held straight and at right angles to the front of the unit
when being inserted and removed from the driver, taking care not to jam it.
Surface scratches may render a CD unusable.•Only write on the CD using suitable pens/markers. An inappropriate
marker could damage the material.•Do not stick labels to the data media. These may detach and damage the
player mechanism.•Do not place the data media near heat sources or in the direct sunlight.•Data media should always be stored in their original box.•When removing the data media, do not allow it to fall, as this may scratch
the surface.Note
•You might not be able to play CDs with copy protection or CD-Rs and CD-
RWs.•Some CD players cannot play MP3 files. Keep in mind the notes in the
corresponding chapter.•Note the laws in vigour in your country concerning copyright.
