Entries in the screen menus can be made using the menu
button. Rotating the button select s a function or a submenu or
adjusts a value. Pressing confirms the selection
Backwards/forwards keys, apply to the active audio
source
− Press: in Radio mode : changes station; in CD mode changes
song (“track”)
− Press and hold: in Radio mode , manual station selection; in
CD mode fast forward/backward search
On/off knob (push) and volume control (turn). The vo lume
control will regulate the volume of the audio source currently
selected. A bar on the screen accompanied by a v alue indicates
the volume. IF the value is “0”, there is no sound. This co ntrol
may also be used to adjust the volume of a telephone c onversa-
tion or a spoken navigation message.
The main menu buttons
− Repeat the last audio navigation instruction and show
the actual destination, position (direction) and the
geographical position.

The button allows adjustments to made in t he selec-
tion area, on the screen (Function keys and
) and on the equipment ⇒page 14, “Radio
adjustments (SETUP)” and ⇒page 35, “Navigation settings
(SETUP)”.
Screen function keys. Corresponding function indicated on the
screen close to the button. The brackets indicate that th e func-
tion is temporarily not available (for example [ERASE] if n o en tr y
has been made).

Slot for an audio or navigation CD.

CD eject button. The ejected CD will be pulled back into the
unit if it is not fully withdrawn within 10 seconds.
Set flagged destination. The unit will store the current
vehicle position when this button is pressed ⇒page 32, “To
record or select a final destination, intermediate destinatio ns,
destinations with a flag or current position”.
Return to the previous menu, to the previous adjustment
and the main menu selected using the function key s.
WARNING
Adjust the volume so that you can still hear signals c oming from outside
the vehicle, such as those of the fire brigade, ambulances or polic e cars.
Caution
•
The screen is not a touch screen. Do not press on the surface. The screen
can be cleaned with a soft cloth (and alcohol, if nec essary). Do not use
solvents such as turpentine or petrol to clean the surface a s they will corrode
the material.

The rotary/push knobs have breaking points to reduce the risk of injury in
the event of an accident. For this reason, you should not press hard on the
buttons. Risk of damage. Light pressure is sufficie nt to operate the unit.
Note
The images that appear in the manual may differ from those of your equip-
ment, depending on the model and version.
Switching on and offSwitching on/off
– Push the ON/OFF button ⇒page 2, fig. 1 .
Enter the PIN
– After turning on the equipment, if the screen displays INTROD.
PIN ⇒ fig. 2, the pin must be entered. This may be found on the
equipment card. – Select a digit by rotating the menu button
⇒page 2, fig. 1
and confirm by pressing the button.
– Incorrect entries may be corrected using the function buttons

– After entering the 4 digit code, OK appears on the screen. If
the entered code corresponds to that on the card, confirm with
the menu button.

– Rotate the menu button to search the station frequency required .
To update the list of stations
– The list of stations is updated automatically when the eq uipment
is turned off. It is also possible to update the list while the e quip-
ment is turned on.
– For this, rotate the menu button on the station list to select t he
upper option Update the station list .
– Press the menu button. The message Updating station list...
appears.
– To interrupt the update, press the menu button.The actual station is accompanied by the symbol
 on the station list.
The stations regularly emitting traffic reports are ac companied by the TP
symbol (T raffic Program) ⇒page 14, “Traffic report function TP (Traffic
Program)”. The stations offering TMC messages ( Traffic- Message- Channel)
are accompanied by a TMC symbol. If the actual station offers the TMC
service, the equipment receives TMC messages. These TMC messages may
be consulted pressing the button and are defined by the dynamic
destination guide ⇒page 38.
To change the name of the station
The station name is shown instead of the frequency if the RDS function is
switched on . If the station transmits additional information us ing the RDS
function when the station list is being updated, for examp le, it is possible
that the station name is not correctly displayed. If this is the case, the station
name may be changed. For this, select the corresponding s tation, wait until
the name appears correctly on the screen then press the menu button. The
station is memorized with this name.
Note
•
If the button appears highligh ted on a black background, then
it is memorized in the list ⇒page 13, fig. 9 . Only stations from the list can
be selected. Press the button to leave the “stati on list” function.
•
If no control is touched for 5 seconds, the equipment changes automati-
cally from the station list to the main Radio menu. Rotate the menus button
to visualise the station list once more.

Important information on operating the CD player19
Important information on operating the CD playerSafety precautions for equipment fitted with lasers Laser devices are classified by DIN IEC 76 (CO) 6/ VDE 0837 into safety
classes 1 to 4.
SEAT CD players correspond to safety class 1.
The lasers used in class 1 units are low energy lasers, or are shielded in such
a manner that they present no danger when used corr ectly.
WARNING
The CD player is a class 1 laser product. If it is opened, or i s faulty or
damaged, there is a risk of invisible laser beams e scaping from the unit.
The CD player contains no parts that have to be servic ed. For safety
reasons, any repair work that needs to be done must, therefore, be carried
out by an Authorised Seat Service Centre.
Caution
•
If the CD player develops a mechanical fault, Error is displayed on the
status line with Player fault. See supplier. in the centre of the screen. Please
ask your SEAT dealership for further information ⇒ .
•
Only use standard 12 cm CDs, given that 8 cm and non- standard shaped
CDs (“Shape CD”) may damage the player mechanism.
•
Slide the CD with the printed side up into the CD slot up t o the point where
it is drawn in automatically. Handle CDs by the edges and av oid leaving finger
marks. Clean the CDs as indicated in ⇒page 19, “Tips on cleaning CDs”
•
Do not stick labels to the CDs; these may be detached a nd damage the
player mechanism.Note
•
You might not be able to play CDs with copy protectio n or CD-Rs and CD-
RWs.
•
Note the laws in vigour in your country concerning co pyright.
Tips on CD modeIn order to guarantee an optimum sound quality from CDS and from MP3 files,
ensure that disks are not damaged, scratched or so iled.
Note that a soiled or damaged navigation CD may effect the f unctions of the
navigation system.
Please do not stick any labels onto the CDs.
Keep the CDs in a disk carrier or in its box.
Never expose CDs to direct sunlight!Tips on cleaning CDsUse a soft, lint–free cloth to clean CDs. Wipe the disc i n a straight line from
the centre outwards. Stubborn soiling can be removed with a commercial CD
cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.

Navigation OverviewHow does the navigation system work, and how is it operated?
An optimal route is defined us ing sensors, satellites and
traffic reports and the driver is then guided to his or her desti-
nation.The current vehicle position is determined using a sy stem of satellites (GPS -
Global Positioning System). Sensors in the vehicle mea sure distances that
have been driven. Thanks to the detailed informatio n on the navigation CD
the measurements values are compared and if necessa ry they are updated
using the traffic reports ( TMC = Traffic Message Channel). An optimal route to
the destination is determined in this way.

SafetyThe navigation system determines the position of the vehicle, the direction
and distance and the route to a selected destination w ithout taking traffic
regulations into account. Navigation recommendations are given as
announcements by the system. Direction arrows are al so shown on the
screen. The destination is entered when the vehicle is stationary. The desti-
nation guide function is designed for cars and is thus unsuit able for larger
commercial vehicles.

If the menu Route planning menu is displayed instead of the
previous menu, then the option Route with intermediate
destination must be deactivated in the menu ⇒page 29.
Pressing a menu with information on the actual loca tion
of the vehicle can be accessed ⇒ page 25, “Navigation menu func-
tion buttons”.
To access the navigation menu and enter a destination
– Press the button. The main NAVIGATION menu appears
⇒ page 24, fig. 12.
– Select how you would like to enter the destination an d press the
menu button ( ⇒page 25, “Methods of entering a destination”).
– To enter a new address, select the country in the list afte r
pushing the Countr y . The previously used address is erased and
a town and post code are entered To w n / P C.
– Press the menus button to access the selection screen ⇒page 24, fig. 13. To enter characters, proceed as follows :
To enter characters
– After selecting an entry (in the example To w n / P C) select charac-
ters by rotating the menu button. Pressing the button, the
selected characters will form part of the name ⇒page 24,
fig. 13 . Invalid characters will be displayed, so that only plac e
names found in the destination country or in the indicated town
included in the navigation CD can be entered.
– Select to enter a number (for example, the post c ode).
– Select to enter special characters. – The entry on the upper line following
To w n / P C alters with each
character entered. If the entry corresponds to a searched name or
is similar, press or the function key to acces s the
list where the entry may be entered by rotating the menu button
and confirm by pushing.
If the destination address has already been entered, th en the information
only needs to be altered to the new destination. For examp le, only the entry
To w n / P C needs to be altered if the new destination corresponds to another
country.
Methods of entering a destination
Using the options Countr y, To w n / P C , Street and Junction the destination
address may be indicated. Following country select ion, the previous entries,
for example special destinations, are limited to the corre sponding countries.
Special destination - To enter real locations such as petrol stations or ho spi-
tals as a destination ⇒page 31, “Special destination”.
Begin Guide – Starts destination guide to the entered destination
⇒ page 37, “Destination guide”.
Position – To enter the longitude and latitude of the destination.
This menu is also used to display poin ts of interest close to the destination;
these may be directly selected. Nearby destinations are t hose that have been
memorized by activating the option Show as nearb y destination ⇒ page 32,
“To record or select a final destination, intermediate des tinations, destina-
tions with a flag or current position”.
To record a trip destination

down to the final destination ( Destination).
A menu bar on the right hand side (see also ⇒page 5, “Handling the
menus”) indicates that not all of the journey stages or th e menu options are
visible. Turn the menu bu tton to verify stages.
While the destination guide is active, it is possible to add st ages to a journey
(up to six stages)
Menu options Route planning
Pressing Enter new destination new destinations may be added to the trip.
Destination and Stage refer to the final destination and the stages respec-
tively. These entries may be modified.
Pushing Begin destination guide the trip is begun.
To modify the trip or to choo se an intermediate destination
Following the selection of a destinatio n from the route planning by rotating
and pressing the menu button, th e following options are available:
Change – To change, for example, the name of the st reet.
Move – To change the order of the destinations. If an inte rmediate destina-
tion is moved to the end of a trip, it is automatically conv erted to the final
destination and the previous final destination beco mes an intermediate
destination.
Erase – To erase the destination from the trip.
Begin guide – To begin the guide to this destination. The interm ediate desti-
nations are not taken into account. If the required destination is an interme-
diate destination, the trip is resumed when the desti nation is reached
⇒ page 37, “Destination guide”.

30Route options can be altered whilst the destination gui de function is active.
The changed parameters will be used as a basis for the c alculation of the
remaining journey.
Highway , Ferry , To l l or Tunnel: Establishes if the section of a route includes
highways, a ferry, toll roads or tunnels . These options will, however, be used
for route planning if there is no other logical route to the destination (e.g. an
island is to be used without using a ferry) (“ No”).
To avoid a route from a point
During the destination guide, this option may be used to manually block a
section of the route on the menu which follows ⇒page 42, “To block
sections and consult information from a route”.
Note
•
The dynamic route guide option will only function if y ou are receiving at
least one TMC radio station. During the destination gui de, the TMC station
must be selected if the sound source is the radio.
•
The quality of the dynamic destination guide depends on the information
contained in the traffic announcements. The stations and / or traffic informa-
tion providers are responsible for th e quality of the information given.
•
In some cases, in order to avoid a traffic jam using the TMC instructions,
no benefit is noticeable if traffic is heavy on the altern ative route.
To select a destination using its geographical position
A destination can be entered using the exact coordinates for
longitude and latitude.– Press the button.
– Press Position if you want to enter your destination using coordi-
nates. – Use the menu button to enter
the degrees, minutes and seconds
of the location.
If the coordinates entered do not correspond to the in formation on the navi-
gation CD, the destination guide cannot begin. Use the following data to esti-
mate the position of your location:
For latitude, 1° corresponds to approximately 111 km, 1 arc minute approxi-
mately 1.85 km and 0.1 hundredth of an arc minute appr oximately 3 m
For longitude, 1° corresponds to approximately 69 km, 1 arc minute approxi-
mately 1.15 km and 0.1 hundredth of an arc minut e approximately 3 m
Note
If you set the longitude higher than 180° or lower than 0°, the E will be
replaced by a W (western longitude). Latitudes can be set from 90°N via 0° to
90°S and back only.

34In the lower part of the list, details of the selected de stination are displayed.
Load itineraries
A list of recorded itineraries is displayed. Select an itinera ry from the list
using the menu button.
Save an itinerary
An itinerary entered in the destination memory is saved. The equipment auto-
matically proposes a name for the itinerary. This may be c hanged using the
menu button ⇒ page 34, “Character input mask”.
Up to six itineraries may be saved, each one with a final destination and a
maximum of six stages. If there are already six itinerarie s saved, one must be
erased before saving another.
Erase itineraries
It is possible to erase the itineraries one by one or all a t the same time.
Save position
This saves the actual position in memory as a dest ination. The proposed
name may be modified on the display ⇒page 34, “Character input mask”.
Flagged destination
Press to save the current position in the destination memory. The flagged
destination is saved with the time ( FLAG DEST HH:MM); it may be renamed or
saved using the option Edit the destination memor y. When the button is
pressed again, the flagged destination will be ov erwritten if it has not been
stored in the destination memory ⇒page 33, “To edit the destination
memory”.
Character input mask
The letters and digits ⇒page 32, fig. 18 are selected by rotating the menu
button and are added to the corresponding line press ing.
A mark may be displayed under certain letters. If these l etters are selected
and some seconds go by, the special characters will appear. The corre-sponding character is selected by rotati
ng and pressing the menu button (in
the example, the characters derived from “Y”: ⇒page 32, fig. 18 ).
– Arrows to the left and to the right. These move th e cursor in the corre-
sponding direction.
– This erases the characters on e by one, beginning from the right.
– To leave the character input mask. Changes must still be saved.
Note
•
If “Route with intermediate destinations” is selected, the last destination
or last itinerary is added. The selec ted destination may be moved to the
required position in the itinerary using the menu bu tton, if only one destina-
tion is required, first deactivate the Route with stages option in the “route
options” (access using the menu ⇒page 29, fig. 15 ).
•
The options between square brackets [ ... ] can not be selected because
they do not conform to the conditions. The options Load itinerary and Save
an itinerary, for example, can only be selected if the corresponding
menu option is available ⇒page 29, fig. 15 .
•
A destination will not be stored in Last dest. until destination guide has
started.
•
The memory has a capacity for 100 destinations. If you ar e not able to
store any more destinations, the destination memor y is full. A destination
must be erased from the memory before saving another.




possible that no new traffic reports will be received. In t his case, the dynamic
destination guide is limited or may not work.
Traffic problems during dynamic destination guide
If, while the destination guide is working, a traffic prob lem arises on the
route, an audio message will indicate the traffic problems or , just before the
problem, will indicate that there are traffic problems.
The navigation system will calculate the quickest possible route when the
dynamic destination guide option is active. The system mi ght well guide you
through a traffic jam if the diversion would be longer.
To display the received traffic reports
Pressing the button displays a list of the latest t raffic reports from
the received TMC station.
Rotating and pressing the menu button, addition al information on the traffic
report is displayed. Thus, information may be obtained on route traffic and
the route may be altered before beginning the destination guide.
Note
•
The dynamic route guide option will only function if y ou are receiving at
least one TMC radio station. During the destination gui de, the TMC station
must be listened to.
•
The quality of the dynamic destinatio n guide depends on the information
contained in the traffic announcements. The stations and / or tr affic informa-
tion providers are responsibl e for the information quality.
•
In some situations, the proposed deviat ion in function of some TMC traffic
report may possibly not represent any time saving if th e alternative route is
also saturated.
