Subaru Roadside Assistance is free and standard on your Subaru; there are no forms to
complete. This service is available anytime during the 3-year/36,000-mile Subaru Limited
Warranty, whichever comes first. See your retailer for details and refer to the Roadside
Assistance guide in the owner’s information kit for the details on this coverage. A Subaru
Roadside Assistance decal has been affixed to the driver’s door window.
Roadside assistance helps with:
• Towing to the nearest authorized Subaru retailer if you cannot safely drive your Subaru
• Jump-start if your battery is dead
• Gasoline delivery if you run out of gas
• Flat tire change to install your spare
• Emergency lockout service
• National Subaru retailer locator service, with phone numbers and location of the nearest
retailer anywhere in the U.S. or Canada

TOWING YOUR ALL-WHEEL DRIVE SUBARU
Since Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive distributes power to all four wheels, improper
towing may damage your AWD system. The best way to tow your Ascent is with a flatbed
truck by your Subaru retailer or a commercial towing service.

3Lane Departure Warning OFF switch:Press and hold this switch for two seconds to
turn off Lane Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning functions. Press and hold
the switch again for two seconds to turn the functions back on.

4Power Sunshade/Moonroof Switches:Operate these switches to open and close
the sunshade or tilt and slide the moonroof.

5Pre-Collision Braking System OFF switch:Press and hold this switch for two
seconds to turn off the Pre-Collision Braking System (including Pre-Collision Brake
Assist) and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. Press and hold the switch again for
two seconds to turn the systems back on.

SPARE TIRE
The spare tire is located in the spare tire holder
located under the rear of your Ascent. The
holder has a hoist mechanism that can lower
and raise the spare tire.

JACK AND TOOLS
A jack and other maintenance tools, which are
used to release the spare tire, are stored under
the cargo floor.
Your vehicle is equipped with the following
maintenance tools:
• Extension (X 2)
• Wheel nut wrench
• Jack handle
• Jack
• Screwdriver
• Towing hook (eye bolt)

NEW VEHICLE BREAK-IN
The performance and long life of your Subaru are dependent on how you handle and care
for your Subaru while it is new.
Follow these instructions during the first 1,000 miles:
• Do not race the engine.
• Do not allow the engine speed to exceed 4,000 rpm except in an emergency.
• Do not drive at one consistent engine or vehicle speed for a long time, either fast or
slow.
• Avoid starting suddenly and rapid acceleration, except in an emergency.
• Avoid hard braking, except in an emergency.
ENGINE OIL
Use 0W-20 synthetic, with one of the following specifications:
• API classification SN with the words “RESOURCE CONSERVING”, SN PLUS with the
words “RESOURCE CONSERVING”, or SP with the words “RESOURCE CONSERVING”.
• ILSAC GF-5 or GF-6A, which can be identified with the ILSAC certification mark
(Starburst mark).
ENGINE OIL CAPACITY
4.8 US quarts (during oil and filter change).
When the level is at the "low" mark, add approximately
1.1 US quarts of engine oil in through the filler cap to bring the
oil level to the “full” mark. For filler cap location see the engine
compartment on page 56.
