The master key and sub master key fit all loc ks on y our vehic le.

The valet key fits only the ig nition switc h and d oo r loc ks. You c an keep
the g love c omp artment loc ked when you leave your ve hic le and valet
key at a p arking fac ility.
Key number
The key numb er is stamp ed on the metal p late attac h ed to the key set.
Write d own the key numb er and keep it in another sa fe p lac e, not in the
vehic le. This numb er is need ed to make a rep lac emen t key if you lose
your key or loc k it insid e the vehic le.

Push the power door locking switch rearward.

To loc k the d oor from the outsid e without the key, p ress the end of the
loc k lever d own on the d oor and then c lose the d oor .
To loc k the d oor from the outsid e using the p ower d oor loc king switc h,
p ush the switc h rearward ( “LOCK ” sid e) and then c lose the d oor. In
this c ase, all c losed d oors and the rear g ate are l oc ked at the same

Child safety locks

WARNING
Always use the child safety lock whenever a child rides in the rear seat. Serious injury could result if a child accidentallyopened the door and fell out.
Eac h rear d oor has a c hild safety loc k that p revent s the d oors from b eing
op ened even if the insid e d oor hand le is p ulled .
When the c hild safety loc k lever is in the loc k p os ition, the d oor c annot
b e op ened from insid e reg ard less of the p osition of the inner d oor hand le
loc k lever. The d oor c an only b e op ened from the ou tsid e.

Keyless entry system (if equipped)
CAUTION
Do not expose the transmitter to severe shocks, such as those
experienced as a result of dropping or throwing. Do not take the transmitter apart except when replacing the
battery. Do not get the transmitter wet. If it gets wet, wipe it dry with a
cloth immediately. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not
cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept anyinterference received, including interference that may causeundesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the user ’s authority to
operate the equipment.
The keyless entry system has the following func tion s.
Loc king and unloc king the d oors and rear g ate witho ut a key
Arming and d isarming the sec urity system (if your v ehic le is eq uip p ed
with an op tional sec urity system). See the next sec tion “Sec urity system
(if eq uip p ed ) ” for d etailed information.
The rec eiver insid e your vehic le ’s keyless entry system and the remote
c ontrol transmitters are d esig ned tog ether to have an averag e op erating
rang e of 25 to 50 feet (8 to 15 meters) d uring id ea l c ond itions. Althoug h
at times you may exp erienc e rang e g reater than that , there may b e oc c a-
sions when rang e is less than normal. Atmosp heric c ond itions or interfer-
enc e from other RF-emitting d evic es c an effec tively red uc e transmitter
rang e.

n Locking the doors
Press the “LOCK ” b utton to loc k all d oors and the rear g ate. The p a rk-
ing lig hts will flash one time. n Unlocking the doors
To unloc k the d river ’s d oor only, p ress and release the “UNLOCK ” b ut-
ton.
To unloc k all d oors and the rear g ate, p ress and ho ld the “UNLOCK ”
b utton.
The p arking lig hts will flash one time.
The vehic le ’s interior (c ourtesy) lig ht will illuminate for 60 sec ond s or
until vehic le is started . NOTE
1. Parking lights will flash when the vehicle ’s battery is discon-
nected and reconnected.
To stop lights from flashing, either: Press remote transmitter “UNLOCK” button once.
Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position and press pro-
gramming button for one second (see location below).
2. The vehicle interior (courtesy) light and door open warninglight (DOOR AJAR indicator) will illuminate for 60 seconds when
the ignition is turned off, or until the doors are locked with the

3. The instrument panel lights will flash when the parking lightsflash.
4. Your SUBARU Keyless Entry System is equipped with tworemote transmitters.
Programming button location

The Programming Button is located under the driver ’s side dash
beneath the diagnostic connector. Adding or deleting remote transmitters
Up to four (4) transmitters c an b e p rog rammed to yo ur keyless entry
system. NOTE
Make sure no one else is operating another keyless entry or security system within range of your vehicle when you are pro-gramming remote transmitters. Another transmitter code couldbe inadvertently “learned” by your system, allowing someone
unauthorized access to your vehicle. n To program an additional transmitter
1. Op en the d river ’s d oor.
2. Turn the vehic le ig nition to the “ON ” p osition.
3. Press and hold the Prog ramming b utton in. After ap p roximately 15 sec ond s, the d oor loc ks will c yc le 3 times.

Mod e. Do not release the Programming button.
4. Press the “LOCK ” b utton on the new transmitter. The d oor loc ks will
c yc le onc e.
5. Rep eat step 4 for any ad d itional transmitters.
6. Exit the Transmitter Prog ram Mod e b y releasing th e Prog ramming
b utton and turning the vehic le ig nition off. Test a ll remote transmitters
to ensure that they work p rop erly. n To delete a lost or stolen transmitter
1. Follow step 1 to 3 as d esc rib ed ab ove.
2. Re-p rog ram the remaining transmitters as d esc rib e d in step 4.
If there is only one remaining transmitter, p erform step 4 four
times .
If there are two remaining transmitters, p erform st ep 4 twice for
eac h transmitter. System maintenance
Your keyless entry system d oes not req uire any sp ec ific maintenanc e
exc ep t for oc c asionally c hang ing the transmitter b a ttery. The 12-volt
b attery in the remote transmitter should last ap p ro ximately one year,
d ep end ing on usag e. When the b attery b eg ins to weak en, you will
notic e a d ec rease in rang e, or the d istanc e from yo ur vehic le that the
remote transmitter will op erate. n To change the remote transmitter battery CAUTION
Do not let dust, oil or water get on or in the transmitter when
replacing the battery.
