NOTE Only use good quality cassettes (cassettes longer than C-90 are
not recommended). Put cassettes back in their boxes immediately after use to protect
them from dust and dirt and to prevent the tape from unwinding. Never expose cassettes to heat, direct sunlight or moisture.
Clean the tape head (once or twice a month) using a wet-type
cleaning cassette .
Cassette slot
Insert a c assette with the exp osed tap e sid e fac ing to the rig ht. After in-

Program switching buttons (PROG)
When the p rog ram switc hing b uttons ( “
” and “” b uttons) are
p ressed at the same time d uring p layb ac k, the tap e travel ind ic ators will
switc h and the p layer will b eg in p laying b ac k the o p p osite sid e of the
tap e. The same mec hanism is automatic ally ac tivated when the end of
the tap e is reac hed . This allows the op p osite sid e of the tap e to p lay,
p rovid ing c ontinuous p layb ac k. Fast-forward button
To fast-forward the tap e, p ress the “

d irec tion to the tap e travel ind ic ator. To stop fas t-forward ing , lig htly p ress
the op p osite sid e of the “
” or “” b utton.
Rewind button
To rewind the tap e, p ress the “
” or “” b utton in the op p osite
d irec tion to the tap e travel ind ic ator. To stop rew ind ing , lig htly p ress the
op p osite sid e of the “

ejec ted .
Before the ig nition switc h turn to the “OFF ” p osition, ejec t the tap e from
the p layer. Always make c ertain that you remove the c assette tap e.
Tape program sensor button (TPS)
Press “TPS ” b utton d uring p layb ac k to return to the b eg inning of the c ur-
rent selec tion or to skip to the b eg inning of the n ext selec tion. To use this
func tion, p ress the “TPS ” b utton to turn on the “TPS ” ind ic ator. If the fast-
forward b utton (FF) is then p ressed , the p layer ad v anc es the tap e to the
b eg inning of the next selec tion and starts p laying it. If the rewind b utton
(REW) is p ressed instead , the p layer rewind s the ta p e to the b eg inning
of the c urrent selec tion and starts rep laying it. T he “TPS ” func tion may
not op erate p rop erly und er the following c ond itions :
When the rec ord ing level is low.
When there are long p auses in the mid d le of a selec tion.

When the b lanks b etween selec tions are shorter than five sec ond s.

Dolby NR button (BNR)
Press “BNR ” b utton when p laying tap es rec ord ed using the Dolb y NR
system*. The “BNR ” ind ic ator will lig ht up and hig h-freq uenc y noise o n
the tap e will b e red uc ed for c learer sound rep rod uc tion.

Clock function
The rad io has a b uilt-in c loc k func tion that d isp la ys the time when the
ig nition switc h is turned either to “ACC ” or “ON ”.

Time display mode
When the time d isp lay mod e is selec ted , the time d i sp lay takes p rior-
ity of the func tion d isp lay. The time is shown on t he d isp lay whenever
the ig nition switc h is “ACC ” or “ON ” p osition.
When the rad io is turned on or the station is c hang ed d uring the time
d isp lay mod e, the time d isp lay is rep lac ed b y the f req uenc y d isp lay.
However, after the freq uenc y has b een d isp layed for five sec ond s, it
is rep lac ed b y the time d isp lay ag ain. Function display mode
When the func tion d isp lay mod e is selec ted , the tim e is not shown on
the d isp lay. The d isp lay ind ic ates the c urrent func tion only.
When the rad io is turned off d uring the func tion d i sp lay mod e, the
b ac k-up lig ht on the d isp lay g oes out.
Setting the time
1. Turn the ig nition switc h to “ACC ” or “ON ”.
2. To adjust hour: Press the “DISP ” b utton and the “TUNING ” b utton
ind ic ated with “ ” tog ether to ad vanc e the hours in one-hour inc remen ts.
Keep ing the b uttons p ressed ad vanc es the hours q uic kly.
3. To adjust minute: Press the ”DISP ” b utton and the “TUNING ” b utton
ind ic ated “
 ” tog ether to ad vanc e the minutes in one-minute inc r ements.
Keep ing the b uttons p ressed ad vanc es the minutes q u ic kly.
NOTE
If the connection between the radio and battery is broken for any reason such as vehicle maintenance or radio removal, the time set-ting will be cleared. If this occurs, it is necessary to reset the time.

Lid tray
WARNING
Objects must not be placed on the lid tray while the vehicle is moving. In the event of sudden braking, sudden steering, or a
collision, objects on the lid tray could be thrown toward the
vehicle’ s occupants and could cause injuries.
CAUTION
If drinks are placed on the tray, take care to prevent them from
spilling. Spilled liquids, if hot, could burn passengers and liquidsof any kind could damage the vehicle ’s interior trim and/or electri-

Cup holder
CAUTION
When not in use, always keep the holder stored while driving
to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a sudden stop or an accident. Do not pick up a cup from the cup holder or put a cup in the
holder while you are driving, as this may distract you and lead toan accident. Take care to avoid spills. Beverages, if hot, might burn you or
your passengers. Spilled beverages may also damage upholstery,carpets or audio equipment.
