If at any time you suspect that exhaust fumes are entering the
vehicle, have the problem checked and corrected as soon as pos-
sible. If you must drive under these conditions, drive only with allwindows fully open. Keep the trunk lid or rear gate closed while driving to prevent
exhaust gas from entering the vehicle.
DRINKING AND DRIVING WARNING
Drinking and then driving is very dangerous. Alcohol in the
bloodstream delays your reaction and impairs your perception,judgment and attentiveness. If you drive after drinking – even if
you drink just a little – it will increase the risk of being involved in
a serious or fatal accident, injuring or killing yourself, your pas-sengers and others. In addition, if you are injured in the accident,
alcohol may increase the severity of that injury. Please don ’t drink and drive.
Drunken d riving is one of the most freq uent c auses of ac c id ents. Sinc e
alc ohol affec ts all p eop le d ifferently, you may hav e c onsumed too muc h
alc ohol to d rive safely even if the level of alc oho l in your b lood is b elow
the leg al limit. The safest thing you c an d o is nev er d rink and d rive. How-
ever if you have no c hoic e b ut to d rive, stop d rink ing and sob er up c om-
p letely b efore g etting b ehind the wheel. DRUGS AND DRIVING

Master key, sub master key and valet key.
The master key and sub master key fit all loc ks on y our vehic le.
Ig nition switc h

Glove c omp artment
The valet key fits only the ig nition switc h and d oo r loc ks. You c an keep
the trunk and g love c omp artment loc ked when you lea ve your vehic le
and valet key at a p arking fac ility.
Key number
The key numb er is stamp ed on the metal p late attac h ed to the key
set. Write d own the key numb er and keep it in anoth er safe p lac e, not
in the vehic le. This numb er is need ed to make a rep lac ement key if
you lose your key or loc k it insid e the vehic le.

Security system (if equipped)
The sec urity system help s to p rotec t your vehic le a
nd valuab les from
theft. The horn sound s and the p arking lig hts flash if someone attemp ts
to b reak into your vehic le. The starter motor is al so interrup ted to p revent
starting the vehic le without a key.
The system c an b e armed and d isarmed with the remot e transmitter.
The system d oes not op erate when the key is inserte d into the ig nition
switc h.
System operation
The sec urity system will g ive the following alarm i nd ic ations when trig -
g ered : The p arking lig hts will flash and the horn will sou nd intermittently.
In ad d ition, the starter motor will not op erate. The alarm automatic ally resets after 30 sec ond s; ho wever, the
alarm will reac tivate if the vehic le is tamp ered wi th ag ain. The alarm
will c ontinue for twelve times if any sensor c ontin ues to b e ac tivated .
The alarm is trig g ered b y: Op ening a d oor, the rear g ate or trunk lid .
Ap p lic ation of p hysic al shoc k to the vehic le (e.g . b reaking g lass or
forc ed entry). Note that there are two alarm levels for shoc k: warning
and alarm. In warning mod e, the alarm d etec ts lower level vib rations
and trig g ers 2 warning c hirp s on the horn and two f lashes on the
lig hts as a d eterrent to would b e vand als. In alarm mod e, hig her lev-
els of shoc k are d etec ted and the system will g o in to full alarm.

n To arm the system using remote transmitter

Press to Arm the system. Press to Disarm the system.

1. Close all wind ows and moonroofs (if so eq uip p ed ).
2. Remove the key from the ig nition switc h.
3. Op en the d oors and g et out of the vehic le.
4. Make sure that the eng ine hood (and the trunk lid ) are loc ked .
5. Close all d oors (and the rear g ate on the station wag on).
6. Briefly p ress the “LOCK/ARM ” b utton (for less than two sec ond s).
All d oors (and the rear g ate on the station wag on) will loc k, the horn
will sound one time, the p arking lig hts will flash one time and the ind i-
c ator lig ht starts flashing slowly (ap p roximately o nc e every two
sec ond s).
If any of the d oors, (rear g ate or trunk lid ) is no t fully c losed , the horn
sound s three times, the p arking lig hts flash three times and the ind i-
c ator lig ht flashes rap id ly to alert you that the d oors (or the rear g ate)
are not p rop erly c losed . When you c lose the d oor, t he system will au-
tomatic ally arm and d oors will automatic ally loc k.

1. Close all wind ows and moonroofs (if so eq uip p ed ).
2. Remove the key from the ig nition switc h.
3. Op en the d oors and g et out of the vehic le.
4. Make sure that the eng ine hood (and the trunk lid ) are loc ked .
5. Close the d oors (and the rear g ate on the station wag on) b ut leave
only the d river ’s d oor or the front p asseng er ’s d oor op en.
6. Push the p ower d oor loc king switc h forward ( “LOCK ” sid e) to set
the d oor loc ks.
7. Close the d oor. The horn will sound one time, the p arking lig hts will
flash one time and the ind ic ator lig ht will start f lashing slowly (ap p roxi-
mately onc e every two sec ond s) to inform you that t he system has
armed . NOTE The system can be armed even if the engine hood, the windows and/or moonroofs are opened. Always make sure that they arefully closed before arming the system. Disarming the system
Briefly p ress the “UNLOCK/DISARM ” b utton (for less than two
sec ond s) on the remote transmitter. The d river ’s d oor will unloc k, the
horn will sound two times, the p arking lig hts will flash two times and
the ind ic ator lig ht will g o off.

Disarming the system
To d isarm the system, b riefly p ress the “UNLOCK/DISARM ” b utton on
the transmitter. Tripped sensor identification
If the horn sound s four times and the p arking lig ht s flash four times
when you d isarm the system, this ind ic ates that the alarm was trig -
g ered . The numb er of times the ind ic ator lig ht flas hes ind ic ates what
sensor c aused the alarm c ond ition.
To enter id entific ation mod e:
1. Op en the d river ’s d oor and leave it op en.
2. Turn the ig nition switc h to the “ON ” p osition two times. ( “LOCK ” 
“ ON ”  “ LOCK ”  “ ON ”  “ LOCK ”)
3. The ind ic ator lig ht will start flashing .
The ind ic ator lig ht p rovid es the following ind ic ati ons.
Flashing one time: Any d oor, the rear g ate or the trunk lid has b een
op ened .
Flashing three times: The imp ac t sensor in the system ’s unit has
b een ac tivated . This may ind ic ate that your vehic le has b een shoc ked
or tamp ered with b y some outsid e forc e and /or unaut horized p erson.
Flashing four times: The ig nition switc h has b een turned on.
To exit this mod e, c lose the d oor and turn the ig ni tion switc h to the
“ ON ” p osition.

WARNING
To prevent dangerous exhaust gas from entering the vehicle,
always keep the trunk lid closed while driving. Help prevent young children from locking themselves in the
trunk. When leaving the vehicle, either close all windows and lockall doors or cancel the inside trunk lid release. Also make certainthat the trunk is closed.
To open and close the trunk lid from outside

Pull the trunk lid release lever up ward . To cancel the trunk lid release

The insid e trunk lid release c an b e c anc elled to he lp p revent unautho-
rized entry into the trunk. To c anc el the trunk lid release, set the lid
release c anc el lever (loc ated on the insid e of the trunk lid , mounted to
the trunk lid latc h) to the “CANCEL ” p osition. When this loc k is in the
“ CANCEL ” p osition, the trunk c an b e op ened only with the ke y.
