The mirror has a p hotosensor attac hed on b oth the f ront and b ac k
sid es. If the g lare from the head lig hts of vehic les b ehind you strikes
the mirror, these sensors d etec t it and make the re flec tion surfac e of
the mirror d immer to help p revent you from b eing b l ind ed . For this
reason, use c are not to c over the sensors with stic kers, or other simi-

1. For op timum c alib ration, switc h off all nonessent ial elec tric al ac -
c essories (rear wind ow d efog g er, heater/air c ond iti oning system,
sp otlig ht, etc .) and ensure all d oors are shut.
2. Drive to an op en, level area away from larg e meta llic ob jec ts or
struc tures and make c ertain the ig nition switc h is in the “ON ” p osition.
3. Press and hold the left b utton for 3 sec ond s then release, and the
c omp ass will enter the c alib ration mod e. “CAL ” and d irec tion will b e
d isp layed .
4. Drive slowly in a c irc le until “CAL ” d isap p ears from the d isp lay
(ab out two or three c irc les).
5. The c omp ass is now c alib rated . Further c alib ratio n is not req uired .
The c omp ass will automatic ally c alib rate from this p oint forward .

AUTO mode operation:
The Automatic Climate Control system automatic ally c ontrols the air
temp erature of the p asseng er c omp artment in the AUT O mod e. When
the “AUTO ” switc h is p ressed , the ind ic ator lig ht “AUTO ” on the c on-

flow d istrib ution, air-inlet c ontrol, and air c ond i tioner c omp ressor op -
eration are automatic ally c ontrolled . ECON (economy) mode:
When you p ress the “AUTO ” switc h while the system is in the AUTO
mod e, it selec ts the ECON (ec onomy) mod e, turning o n the

Temperature sensors
This Automatic Climate Control system emp loys the s everal sensors.
These are very d elic ate p arts. Therefore, if these sensors are d am-
ag ed , it is p ossib le that the Automatic Climate Con trol system will not
p rop erly c ontrol the air temp erature in the p asseng er c omp artment.
To p revent p ossib le d amag e to the sensors, p lease o b serve the fol-
lowing :
–Do not allow anything to imp ac t the sensors.
– Be c areful not to let water c ontac t the sensors.
– Do not c over the sensors.
The sensors are found at the following loc ations: – Sun-load sensor (b esid e the wind shield d efroster g r ille)
– In-vehic le temp erature sensor (b esid e the temp eratu re c ontrol
d ial.)
– Amb ient sensor (at the b ac ksid e of the front g rille )
