Symbols, Switches and Buttons
Northup symbol and scale of map
Indicates north on the map. The
figure also indicates the map scale.
For details, see pages 41 through
42.
“PWR/VOL” knob
Push this knob to turn the
navigation system on and off. For
details, see page 2.
“NAV” button
Push this button to turn the
navigation screen on. When this
button is pressed while the
navigation screen is displayed, it
functions in the same way as the
“MAP” button.
“GPS” mark
(Global Positioning System)
Whenever your vehicle is receiving
signals from the GPS, this mark is
displayed. For details, see page 44.
“SETUP” button
Push this button to display the
“Setup” screen. This screen allows
you to make adjustments or correct
settings of various options and
functions.
“ENT” button/select and scroll
lever
In case of selecting the function and
letters or moving cursor, press the
lever to one direction out of 8
directions. In case of deciding the
function after selecting it on the
screen, push the lever as a button.Eject button
Push this button to eject a
DVD−ROM.DVDROM slot
Put a map data DVD−ROM into
the slot.
“MAP” button
Push this button to repeat a
guidance voice, cancel the map
scroll and start a guidance. For
details, see page 30.
“DEST” button
Push this button to display the
“Destinations” screen. For details,
see page 4.
“MENU” button
Push this button to display the
“Menu” screen. This screen allows
you to make adjustments or
correct settings of various options
and functions.
Zoom in button
This button magnifies the map
scale. For details, see page 41.
Zoom out button
This button reduces the map scale.
For details, see page 41.
“BACK” button
Push this button when to call out
the previous screen.
Clock
The digital clock indicates the time.
For details, see page 90. Distance and time to destination
Displays the distance and the
estimated travel time to the
destination. The direction will be
indicated when your vehicle is off
the route. For details, see page 26.

INFORMATION
This navigation unit has a thermal
shut down system. When the tempera-
ture of the unit becomes extremely
high, the unit automatically shuts
down with a beep and warning mes-
sage. When the unit cools down
enough, it automatically returns to op-
eration.
Your navigation system works when the
ignition switch is in the “ACC” or “ON”
position.
NOTICE
To prevent the battery from being dis-
charged, do not leave the navigation
system on longer than necessary
when the engine is not running.
Turning the system on and off
“PWR/VOL”: Push this knob to turn the
navigation system on and off. The system
turns on in the last mode used.

When using the navigation system, if you
push the
“PWR/VOL” knob, the clock
screen is always displayed.
Even after the ignition switch is turned off,
if you push the
“PWR/VOL” knob, the
clock screen is displayed for a few sec-
onds.

The clock in this system can be cor-
rected manually or by using signals
from the GPS. Daylight Saving Time
setting or your desired time setting is
available.

Select your desired switch you want to
set.
“12Hr/24Hr”: You can select standard 12
hour AM/PM time,
“12Hr”, or 24 hour
military time,
“24Hr”.
“Auto GPS Update”: If you select the
“ON” switch, the time is automatically
adjusted by the GPS clock. If you select
the
“OFF” switch, you can adjust the
clock manually. (For the method of how to
adjust the clock, see manual clock adjust-
ment.)
“Daylight Savings”: Daylight savings time
can be set or canceled.
“Time Zone”: You can select the time
zone. Selected switch is highlighted in

Push the “Adjust” button and select
hour or minute. The highlighted num-
bers may then be adjusted by moving
the select and scroll lever up or down.
Push the
“Adjust” button once again,
and return to clock setting mode.
If you push the
“Adjust” button, “Auto
GPS Update” will turn to
“OFF” auto-
matically.
After making any changes on the “Ad-
just Clock” screen, push the
“OK”
button so that the previous screen will
be displayed. You can also display the
previous screen by pushing the
“Back” button.

EQ (Equalization) presets: This function
is designed to select the preset EQ set-
tings. Settings consist of the treble, mid−
range and bass control positions which
can be stored in the custom setting.
To use a preset EQ setting: Push the

” button when the radio or the com-
pact disc player is on. You can choose
from 5 presets and custom setting using
the buttons: “EQ1”, “EQ2”, “EQ3”, “EQ4”,
“EQ5” and “CUSTOM”. In radio mode,
pressing the selected preset button for 2
seconds or more after selecting an EQ
setting will store the EQ setting for each
station.
To set “CUSTOM”: Push the “
” button
and the “CUSTOM” button. Then you can
manually adjust the treble, mid−range or
bass using the select and scroll lever.
This will overwrite any previous custom
setting that was saved with a station pre-
set.When a tuner preset is saved, the EQ
preset name is saved along with the tun-
er settings. Additionally, the current EQ
setting is saved with the current mode
(AM, FM1, FM2 or CD).
(c) Your radio antenna
Your vehicle has a mast type antenna.
To remove the antenna, carefully turn it
counterclockwise.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the antenna,
make sure it is removed before driv-
ing your vehicle through an automat-
ic car wash.
(d) Your compact disc player
When you insert a compact disc, insert
it with the label side up. The compact
disc player will play from track 1 through
the end of the disc. Then it will play from
track 1 again.
NOTICE
Never try to disassemble or oil any
part of the compact disc player. Do
not insert anything other than com-
pact discs into the slot.
The player is intended for use with 12
cm (4.7 in.) discs only.
