“VSC/TRAC” warning light
This light warns that there is a problem
somewhere in the vehicle stability control
system, traction control system (two−wheel
drive models) or active traction control
system (four −wheel drive models).
The warning light will come on when the
ignition key is turned to “ON” and will go
off after a few seconds.
If the light comes on while driving, the
system does not work. However, as con-
ventional braking operates when applied,
there is no problem to continue your driv-
ing. In the following cases, contact your Toyota
dealer:
The warning light does not come on
after the ignition key is turned to “ON”.
The warning light remains on after the
ignition key is turned to “ON”.
The warning light comes on while driv-
ing.
When parking, firmly apply the parking
brake to avoid inadvertent creeping.
To set: Fully depress the parking brake
pedal. For better holding power, first de-
press the brake pedal and hold it while
setting the parking brake.
To release: Depress the parking brake
pedal once again.
To remind you that the parking brake is
set, the parking brake reminder light in
the instrument panel remains on until you
release the parking brake.

CAUTION
Before driving, be sure the parking
brake is fully released and the park-
ing brake reminder light is off.
The cruise control allows you to cruise
the vehicle at a desired speed over 40
km/h (25 mph) even with your foot off
the accelerator pedal.
Your cruising speed can be maintained up
or down grades within the limits of engine
performance, although a slight speed
change may occur when driving up or
down the grades. On steeper hills, a
greater speed change will occur so it is
better to drive without the cruise control.
CAUTION
To help maintain maximum control
of your vehicle, do not use the
cruise control when driving in
heavy or varying traffic, or on slip-
pery (rainy, icy or snowcovered) or
winding roads.
Avoid vehicle speed increases when
driving downhill. If the vehicle
speed is too fast in relation to the
cruise control set speed, cancel the
cruise control then downshift the
transmission to use engine braking
to slow down.
TURNING THE SYSTEM ON
To operate the cruise control, press the
“ON−OFF” button. This turns the system
on. The indicator light in the instrument
panel shows that you can now set the
vehicle at a desired cruising speed. Anoth-
er press will turn the system completely
off.
CAUTION
To avoid accidental cruise control en-
gagement, keep the “ONOFF” switch
off when not using the cruise control.

er ’s or front passenger ’s seatback.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or a sudden stop
while driving, stow the controller in
the holder when it is not in use.
NOTICE
Do not leave the controller exposed
to high temperatures (such as on the
instrument panel) for a long time,
otherwise the controller may be dam-
aged.

To use the input terminal adapter, open
the lid.
The input terminal adapter is composed of
3 input terminal adapters.
Yellow: Image input adapter
Red: Audio input adapter
White: Audio input adapter
NOTICE
Close the input terminal adapter lid
when the input terminal adapter is not
in use. Inserting a foreign object oth-
er than the appropriate plug that fits
the adapter may cause electrical fail-
ure or short circuit.
—Power outlet
This power outlet is designed for use as
a power supply for the audio device con-
nected to the input terminal adapter.
The key must be in the “ON” position for
the power outlet to be used.
The maximum capacity for this power out-
let is 115 VAC/100W. If you attempt to
use an appliance that requires more than
115 VAC or 100W, the protection circuit
will activate and cut the power supply.
The power supply will restart automatically
when you use an appliance that operates
within the 115 VAC/100W limits.Main switch
To use the power outlet, push the main
switch on the instrument panel.
An indicator light will illuminate to indicate
that the power outlet is ready for use.
Push the main switch once again to turn
the power outlet off. When the power out-
let is not in use, make sure that the main
switch is turned off.

In the automatic operation mode, the air
conditioning selects the most suitable fan
speed and air flow, on−off of the air condi-
tioning and air intake according to the
temperature.
When you press the “AUTO” button with
the air intake mode at FRESH, internal
circulation may be applied for maximum
cooling.
When you adjust the temperature selector
to maximum cooling, a “MAX COLD” mes-

air intake mode will be automatically
changed to RECIRCULATE.
You may use manual controls if you want
to select your own settings. Fan speed selector

2. Bilevel—Air flows from both the floor
vents and the instrument panel vents.
When you set the temperature selector
setting at about the middle in automatic
operation, warm air flows out of the
floor vents and relatively low −tempera-
ture air flows out of the center and
side vents.
3. Floor— Air flows mainly from the floor
vents.
It is recommended that you close the
lower vent. For details about this, see
“Instrument panel vents” on page 251
in this Section.
4. Floor/Windshield— Air flows mainly
from the floor vents and windshield
vents.
Use with the air intake selector posi-
tioned in FRESH.
It is recommended that you close the
lower vent. For details about this, see
“Instrument panel vents” on page 251
in this Section.
