This section describes some of the basic
features of your audio system. Some in-
formation may not pertain to your system.
Your audio system works when the engine
switch is turned to the ACC or ON position.
NOTICE
To prevent the battery from being dis-
charged, do not leave the audio sys-
tem on longer than necessary when
the engine is not running.
CAUTION
For vehicles sold in U.S.A. and
Canada:
Part 15 of the FCC Rules
FCC Warning:
Changes or modifications in
construction not expressly approved
by the party responsible for com-
pliance could void the user’s author-
ity to operate the equipment. Radio
frequency exposure. This device is
approved for Mobile Application only
and, to comply with applicable FCC
radio frequency exposure regula-
tions, must be used with a distance of
at least 7.9 in. (20 cm) between the an-
tenna and the body of any person at
all time during use.
Laser products
Do not take this unit apart or at-

is carefully shielded so that its
rays remain inside the cabinet.
Therefore, never try to disas-

its parts since you may be ex-
posed to laser rays and danger-
ous voltages.
 This product utilizes a laser.
Use of controls or adjustments
or performance of procedures
other than those specified here-
in may result in hazardous radi-
ation exposure.

The touchscreen buttons for radio, CD
changer and DVD player operation are
displayed on the function touch
screen button display screen when the
audio control mode is selected. Touch
them lightly and directly on the screen.
The selected switch is highlighted.
INFORMATION
If the system does not respond to a
touch of a touchscreen button,
move your finger away from the
screen and then touch it again.
You cannot operate dimmed
touchscreen buttons.
Wipe off fingerprints on the surface
of the display using a glass clean-
ing cloth.
(c) Automatic sound levelizer (ASL)
When the audio sound becomes diffi-
cult to be heard due to road noise, wind
noise or other noises while driving, the
system adjusts to the optimum volume
according to the noise level. To turn
this function on, touch “ASL” on the au-
dio control screen.
(d) Tone and balance
Tone
How good an audio program sounds to you
is largely determined by the mix of the
treble, midrange, and bass levels. In fact,
different kinds of music and vocal pro-
grams usually sound better with different
mixes of treble, mid −range, and bass.
Balance
A good balance of the left and right stereo
channels and of the front and rear sound
levels is also important.
Keep in mind that if you are listening to a
stereo recording or broadcast, changing
the right/left balance will increase the vol-
ume of one group of sounds while de-
creasing the volume of another.
1. Push the “AUDIO” button.
6U5002aF
2. Touch “SOUND” to display the
sound adjustment screen.

(a) Listening to the radio
Push these buttons to choose either an
AM or FM station.
“AM”, “FM1” or “FM2” appears on the
screen.
If your vehicle is equipped with a satellite
radio broadcast system, when you push
the “AM·SAT” button, “AM”, “SAT1”,
“SAT2”, “SAT3” station appears on the
display. For details about satellite radio
broadcast, see “—Radio operation (XM

Satellite Radio broadcast)” on page 199.
XS00314
Turn the knob clockwise to step up the
station band or counterclockwise to
step down.
Your radio automatically changes to stereo
reception when a stereo broadcast is re-
ceived. “ST” appears on the screen. If the
signal becomes weak, the radio reduces
the amount of channel separation to pre-
vent the weak signal from creating noise.
If the signal becomes extremely weak, the
radio switches from stereo to mono recep-
tion. In this case, “ST” disappears from the
screen.
