Convenience menu Function
Unlock doors
Doors are unlocked as follows depending on the option selected: – All doors: Pushing the unlock button 0 on the remote control vehicle key, unlocks all doors and the rear hatch. – Single door: Pushing the unlock button 0 on the remote control vehicle key unlocks only the driver door. To unlock all doors and the rear hatch, push the unlock button 0 on the key a second time within about 5 seconds. On vehicles with Keyless Access, touching the sensor surface of the door handle on the side where the valid vehicle key is located unlocks the respective door. – Vehicle side: Pushing the unlock button 0 on the remote control vehicle key unlocks the doors on the driver side of the vehicle. On vehicles with Keyless Access touching the sensor surface of a door handle on the side where the valid remote control vehicle key is located unlocks the doors on that side of the vehicle

Individually Both outside mirrors are adjusted separately.
Both mirrors The front passenger outside mirror is adjusted at the same time as the driver outside mirror.
Back The display returns to the Convenience menu.
Factory setting Resets certain features in the Convenience sub-menu to the factory settings.
Back The display switches back to the Settings menu.

x Briefly press the desired memory button 1 , 2 or 3 on the outer side of the driver seat.
x Shift the transmission into Reverse (R).
x Adjust the passenger outside mirror to provide good visibility of the curb, for example.
x The adjusted mirror position is automatically stored and assigned to the vehicle key used to unlock the vehicle. The preselected position will be recalled when the key assigned to that mirror adjustment position is used again.
The passenger-side outside mirror automatically adjusts back from the position stored for backing up
when the vehicle moves forward at about 10 mph (15 km/h) or more or when the rotary knob ⇒ fig. 98 is rotated from R into a different position.
Recalling settings for driver seat and outside mirrors
x Briefly press the appropriate memory button when the vehicle is not moving, the ignition is switched off, and the driver door is open.
x OR: If the ignition is switched on and the driver door is closed, press and hold the appropriate memory button until the stored position is reached.
Assigning driver seat and outside mirror settings to a vehicle key
The memory function of all vehicle keys is disabled when the vehicle is first delivered from the factory.
To enable vehicle key memory feature:
x Unlock the driver door.
x Press and hold a memory button ⇒ fig. 56 until memory position is reached.
x Press and hold the unlock button 0 on the vehicle key and then press the desired memory button at the same time within about 3 seconds. A chime sounds to confirm activation.
To disable remote control vehicle key memory function:
x Press and hold the SET button.
x Press and hold the unlock button 0 on the remote control vehicle key within about 10 seconds. A chime sounds to confirm deactivation.
Assigning settings to an additional vehicle key
x Follow the instructions ⇒ Assigning driver seat and outside mirror settings to a vehicle key to assign the driver seat and outside mirror settings to the vehicle key.
x Unlock the vehicle with the same vehicle key.
x Adjust driver seat and outside mirrors.
x Lock the vehicle with locking button 1 in the vehicle key to store the settings.
Once the settings are stored, the driver seat and the outside mirrors move to the stored positions whenever the vehicle is unlocked with the vehicle key open button 0 and the driver door is opened. If 2 people use the vehicle, each of them should always use the key in which his or her personal settings have been stored.
Initializing the memory seat
The memory system must be initialized by an authorized Volkswagen dealer, an authorized Volkswagen Service Facility, or another qualified workshop in certain situations, for instance, if a new driver seat is installed.
Initializing clears all memories and assignments of the memory seat. After that, memory buttons can be reprogrammed and assigned to a remote control vehicle key.
x Open the driver door but do not enter the vehicle.
x Adjust the driver seat from the outside.
x Move the angle of the backrest forward as far as it will go.
x Release the backrest adjustment switch and press it again until you hear a chime sound.

Ambient (background) lighting in the outside mirrors
The ambient (background) lighting in the outside mirrors illuminates the area near the doors when entering and exiting the vehicle. It is switched on when the vehicle is unlocked, a vehicle door is opened, or the Coming home/Leaving home feature is activated. If the vehicle is equipped with a light sensor, the ambient (background) lighting in the outside mirrors is only switched on in darkness.
The delay period can be adjusted in 10 second intervals and the function can be switched on
and off in the Lights & Vision menu ⇒  Volkswagen Information System.
If the Coming home feature is switched on and the driver door is opened, no warning chime will sound to alert you that the lights are still on.

NOTICE
Broken glass in the self-dimming mirrors can cause electrolyte fluid leakage. Liquid electrolyte leaked from a broken mirror glass will damage any plastic surfaces it comes in contact with. Clean up spilled electrolyte fluid immediately with clear water and a sponge.

The self-dimming feature can be switched on and off with the switch on the inside mirror (2). When self-dimming is activated, the indicator light (1) is on.
If the ignition is switched on, the sensor (3) automatically darkens the inside mirror depending on the amount of light shining into the vehicle from the rear.
The self-dimming feature is deactivated when you shift the transmission into Reverse (R) or switch on the interior lights or the reading light.
Do not attach external navigation devices to the windshield or in the vicinity of the self-dimming inside
mirror ⇒ .
WARNING
The illuminated display on an external navigation device can cause the self-dimming inside mirror to malfunction, which can result in crashes and serious injuries.
x Malfunctions in the self-dimming function can result in the rearview mirror being unable to evaluate the exact distance of vehicles in the rear or other objects.
If the light striking the sensor is filtered or blocked (such as by a sunshade), the self-dimming inside mirror will not work properly or may not work at all.

Turn the rotary knob to the desired position:
2 Adjust the right outside mirror by pressing the knob to left/right and up/down.
 Neutral position. Outside mirror folded out, no heating or adjustment possible.

Synchronous mirror adjustment
x In the Settings - Convenience menu select “Mirror adjust: Both mirrors” for synchronous outside mirror adjustment
x Turn the adjusting knob to the L position.
x Adjust the left outside mirror. The right (passenger) outside mirror will automatically adjust at the same time.
x If needed, correct the position of the right mirror by turning the adjusting knob to the R position.
Self-dimming outside mirror on the driver side
The self-dimming outside mirror is controlled together with the self-dimming inside mirror ⇒  Inside mirror.
Memory for front passenger side mirror (when backing up)
x Choose the remote control vehicle key that will be used with the settings about to be made.
x Unlock the vehicle with that remote control vehicle key.
x Set the parking brake.
x Shift the transmission into Neutral (N).
x Switch on the ignition.
x Activate the function Mirror down in the Settings - Convenience menu.
x Shift the transmission into Reverse (R).
x Adjust the passenger outside mirror for a clear view of the curb, for example.
x The adjusted mirror position is automatically stored and assigned to the vehicle key used to unlock the vehicle. The preselected position will be recalled when the key assigned to that mirror adjustment position is used again.
Recalling passenger side mirror settings
x Turn the adjusting knob for the side mirrors to the R position.
x Shift the transmission into Reverse (R) gear with the ignition switched on.
x The mirror moves back to the regular position when the vehicle moves forwards faster than about 10 mph (15 km/h) or the adjusting knob is turned to the O or L position.
WARNING
Improper use of the folding outside mirrors can cause personal injury.
x Always make sure that nobody is in the way when folding the mirrors in or out.
x Make sure that you do not get your finger caught between the mirror and the mirror base when moving the mirrors.
