Operating the panoramic roof *
The panoramic roof and sun curtain are oper- ated using a control in the ceiling panel, andboth are equipped with pinch protection.
WARNING
Children, other passengers or objects can be trapped by the moving parts.
Always operate the windows with cau- tion.
Do not allow children to play with theoperating controls.
Never leave a child alone in the vehicle.
Remember to always cut the current tothe power windows by setting thevehicle's electrical system to ignitionmode
0 and then taking the remote
key with you when leaving the vehicle.
Never stick objects or body parts outthrough the windows, even if the vehi-cle electrical system is completelyturned off.
CAUTION
Do not open the panoramic roof when load carriers are installed.
Never place heavy objects on the pan-oramic roof.
CAUTION
Remove ice and snow before opening the panoramic roof. Be careful not toscratch any surfaces or damage thetrim.
Do not operate the panoramic roof if itis frozen in place.
To operate the panoramic roof and sun cur- tain, the ignition must be in mode
I or II.
It can also be operated using keyless opening *
with the door handle.
WARNING
Make sure that no child or other passenger comes into contact with the windows as they are closing with keyless closing *.
CAUTION
Check that the panoramic roof is properly closed when closing.
The movement of the roof will stop if the con- trol is released during manual operation or when the glass has reached the comfort 4
or
fully open/closed position. The movement of both the panoramic roof and the sun curtain isalso stopped if the control in the ceiling isoperated again in the direction opposite thatof the current direction of movement. The panoramic roof and sun curtain are also equipped with pinch protection. If there is anyproblem with the pinch protection, a rest pro-cedure can be tested.
NOTE
For manual opening, the sun curtain must be completely open before the panoramicroof can be opened. For the reverse proce-dure, the panoramic roof must be com-pletely closed before the sun curtain canbe completely closed.
NOTE
It may not be possible to operate the win- dows in low temperatures.

Clean Zone*
The Clean Zone function monitors the condi- tions affecting good air quality in the passen-ger compartment and indicates whether theyare fulfilled or not.
The indicator is shown in the center dis- play's Climate view.
The indicator is shown in the climate bar when Climate view is not open.
If the conditions are not met, the text
Clean
Zone will be shown in white. When all the
conditions are met, the text will change to blue. The following conditions must be met:
All doors and trunk lid are closed.
All side windows and panoramic roof

The blower is activated.

NOTE
Clean Zone does not indicate that the air quality is good, but only that the conditionsfor good air quality have been met.

Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP) is a series of modifications that filters even more allergyand asthma-inducing substances from thepassenger compartment.
CZIP includes the following:
An enhanced function that starts the blower when the vehicle is unlocked usingthe remote key. The blower will then fillthe passenger compartment with fresh air.The function starts when required andswitches off automatically after a period oftime or when one of the passenger com-partment doors is opened. The amount oftime the blower runs gradually decreasesdue to reduced need up until the vehicle is4 years old.

Preconditioning is only available when the car is connected to an electrical outlet. Acharging post that is not always active, forexample because of a timer, can cause lossof function for preconditioning. If the vehicle is not connected to an electri- cal socket it is still possible in a warm cli-mate to achieve brief cooling of the pas-senger compartment by direct starting pre-conditioning.
NOTE
The vehicle doors and windows should be closed during preconditioning of the pas-senger compartment.
Starting from app *A device with the Volvo On Call * app can be
used to start preconditioning or check set- tings. Preconditioning heats or cools the pas-senger compartment (using the vehicle's airconditioning) to a comfortable temperature. The passenger compartment can also be pre- conditioned using the Engine Remote Start (ERS) 4
function using the Volvo On Call * app.

The timer can be set to finish preconditioning at a predetermined time.
The timer can store up to 8 preset times for: A time on a particular date
A time on one or more days of the week, with or without the repeat function.

NOTE
Be aware of the risk of locking the remote key in the vehicle. If the remote key or key tag is left in the vehicle, it will be deactivated whenthe vehicle is locked and the alarm setusing another valid key. The key will bereactivated when the vehicle isunlocked.
If the remote key or Red Key is left inthe vehicle, it will be deactivated evenif the vehicle is locked using Volvo OnCall, and will be reactivated when thevehicle is unlocked using Volvo On Callor another valid key.
Button-less key (Key Tag)

The button-less key4
provided with the keyless
locking and unlocking function works in the same way as the regular remote key for key-less start, locking and unlocking. The key iswaterproof up to a depth of approx. 10 meters(30 feet) for up to 60 minutes. It does nothave a detachable key blade and its batterycannot be replaced.
Red Key - restricted remote key *A Red Key is a key that makes it possible to set restrictions for some of the vehicle's func- tions, e.g. maximum speed and maximum audio system volume. It helps vehicle ownersensure that the vehicle is being operatedresponsibly by other drivers.
InterferenceElectromagnetic fields or obstructing objectsmay interfere with the remote key's functionsfor keyless start and keyless locking and unlocking

NOTE
Avoid storing the remote control key near metal objects or electronic devices, e.g.cell phones, tablets, laptops or chargers –preferably no closer than 10-15 cm(4-6 in.).
If you experience interference, use the remote key's detachable blade to unlock the vehicleand then place the remote key in the backupreader in the tunnel console cup holder to dis-arm the alarm and start the vehicle.
NOTE
When the remote control key is placed in the cup holder, make sure that no othervehicle keys, metal objects or electronicdevices (e.g. cell phones, tablets, laptopsor chargers) are found in the cup holder.Multiple vehicle keys close to each other inthe cup holder can disrupt their functional-ity.

Replacing the remote key's battery
The battery in the remote key must be replaced when it is discharged.
NOTE
All batteries have a limited service life and must eventually be replaced (does notapply for Key Tag). The battery's service lifevaries depending on how often thevehicle/key is used.

(the Key Tag) cannot be replaced. A new key can be ordered from an authorized Volvo workshop.
CAUTION
An end-of-life Key Tag must be turned in to an authorized Volvo workshop. The keymust be deleted from the vehicle becauseit can still be used to start the vehicle viabackup start.
Opening the key and replacing the battery
Hold the remote key with the front side
(with the Volvo logo) facing up and move the button on the key ring section to theright. Slide the front cover slightly upward.
The cover will loosen and can be
removed from the key.

Insert a new battery with the positive side (+ ) facing upward. Do not touch the con-
tact surfaces of the remote key battery.
Place the edge of the battery down-
ward into the holder. Slide the battery for- ward until it locks into place under the twoplastic catches.
Press the battery downward until it
locks into place under the upper black plastic catch.
NOTE
Use batteries with the designation CR2032, 3 V.
NOTE
Volvo recommends that batteries used in the remote control key satisfy UN Manualof Test and Criteria, Part III, sub-section38.3. The factory installed batteries andbatteries replaced by an authorized Volvoworkshop satisfy the above criterion.
Replace the battery cover and turn it clockwise until it points to CLOSE.
Put the rear cover back into position
and press it down until it clicks into place.
Slide the cover back.
> A second click indicates that the cover is correctly positioned and locked into place.

Red Key - restricted remote key
*
A Red Key makes it possible for the vehicle owner to set limitations for certain vehicleproperties. The limitations are intended topromote safe use of the vehicle, e.g. when itis loaned out.
For a Red Key, it is possible to define the vehi- cle's maximum speed, set speed remindersand limit the audio system's volume. Severalof the driver support systems will also alwaysbe active. Otherwise, the Red Key functions inthe same way as a standard remote key. These restrictions are intended to help reduce the risk of accidents and help the driver feelmore secure when handing over the vehicle toe.g. a young driver, parking attendant or work-shop.
Driver profile for Red KeyA Red Key is linked to a specific Red Keydriver profile, and when it is active the key'ssettings cannot be changed. It is also not pos-sible to switch to another driver profile, as thisrequires a regular remote key. The Red Key driver profile is activated when the vehicle is unlocked using a Red Key with-out a regular remote key nearby.
NOTE
If the vehicle changes owners, the vehicle must be locked and then unlocked for anew driver profile to be activated.
Ordering a Red KeyOne or more Red Key can be ordered from a Volvo retailer. A total of twelve keys can beprogrammed and used for the same vehicle.Up to ten may be restricted keys, but at leasttwo must be standard remote keys.

Settings for Red Key *
The holder of a regular remote key can adjust settings for a Red Key. Certain driver supportfunctions are always active, however.
To change this setting:
1. Unlock the vehicle using a regular remote key.

Locking and unlocking with detachable key blade
The detachable key blade can be used to unlock the vehicle from the outside, e.g. if thebattery in the remote key is discharged.
Unlocking
Pull the front left-hand door handle to its end position to access the lock cylinder.
Put the key in the lock cylinder.
Turn the key clockwise 45 degrees so that the key blade is pointing straight rear-ward.
Turn the key blade back 45 degrees to its original position. Remove the key from thelock cylinder and release the handle sothat it returns to its original positionagainst the vehicle.
5. Pull the door handle. > The door will open. Lock the door in the same way, but turn thekey 45 degrees counterclockwise in step (3).
Disarming the alarm and starting the vehicle
NOTE
When the door is unlocked using the detachable key blade and then opened, thealarm will be triggered.
Location of the backup key reader in the cup holder.
Turn off the alarm by:
1. Place the remote control key on the key
symbol in the backup reader in the bottom of the cup holder in the tunnel console.
2. Turn the start knob clockwise and release it.
> The alarm signal will stop and the alarmwill switch off.
LockingThe vehicle can also be locked using the remote key's detachable key blade, e.g. ifeither the vehicle's or remote key's batteriesare discharged. The left-hand front door can be locked by inserting the detachable key into the door'slock cylinder. This is the only door with a lock cylinder. The other doors have lock mechanisms in the sideof the door that must be pushed in using thekey blade. The door will then be lockedmechanically and cannot be opened from theoutside. The doors can still be opened from inside.

–Remove the detachable key blade from the remote key. Insert the key blade intothe opening for the lock mechanism andpush the key in as far as possible, about12 mm (0.5 in).
The door can be opened from both the outside and the inside.
The door cannot be opened from the out- side. To return to position A, open the doorusing the inside door handle.
The doors can also be unlocked by pressingthe unlock button on the remote key or thecentral lock button in the driver's door.
NOTE
The door's lock controls only lock that specific door, not all doors simultane-ously.
A manually locked rear door with anactivated manual or electric childsafety lock cannot be opened fromeither the outside or inside of the vehi-cle. A rear door locked in this way canonly be unlocked using the remote keyor the central unlocking button.

Electronic immobilizer The electronic immobilizer is a start inhibitor that helps prevent the vehicle from beingstarted by an unauthorized person.
The vehicle can only be started with the right remote key. The following instrument panel error mes- sages are related to the electronic immobil-izer:
