Key memory – power driver's seat* and door mirrors
Each remote key has a memory that enables it to store (remember) the position of the powerdriver's seat and door mirrors when the vehi-cle is locked with that remote key.

The key memory has to be activated
for each
of the remote keys used in the vehicle as
follows:
1. Insert a remote key in the ignition slot.
2. Go into the MY CAR menu and go to
SettingsCar settingsCar key
memory
3. To activate the remote key memory fea- ture, press ENTER (check the box).
> The remote key is now ready to store the position of the power driver's seat and door mirrors.
Repeat this procedure for each of the vehi-cle's remote keys. See My Car – introduction (p. 70) for a description of the menu system.
Storing the positions of the power
driver's seat/mirrors in the remote key
1. Move the seat and door mirrors to the desired position using the seat and mirror adjustment controls.
2. Exit the vehicle and lock the doors with the remote key (or close the driver's doorand press the lock button on the doorhandle with the remote key in your pos-session on vehicles with the optional key-less drive).
> The positions of the power driver'sseat and door mirrors are now stored in the remote key's memory.
NOTE
The remote key's memory feature and the power driver's seat memory function (thesettings made using the buttons on theside of the seat, see the section "Powerseat memory function" in Front seats –power seat (p. 75)) work independently ofeach other.

Returning the seat/mirrors to the storedpositions
To move the seat and door mirrors to the position stored in the remote key:
1. Unlock the driver's door with the same
remote key (the one used to lock the doors). For models equipped with theoptional keyless drive, you must have thesame remote key in your possession.
2. Open the driver's door within 2 minutes. The driver's seat and door mirrors will auto- matically move to the position in which youleft them (if the vehicle has been unlockedwith one of the other keys and new seat/mirror adjustments have been made).
NOTE
• The seat will move to this position even if someone else has moved it to adifferent position and locked the vehi-cle with a
different remote key.
• This feature will work in the same waywith all of the remote keys that youuse with your vehicle.
Emergency stop
WARNING
•
Because the driver's seat can be adjusted with the ignition off, childrenshould never be left unattended in thevehicle.
• Movement of the seat can be STOP-PED at any time by pressing any but-ton on the power seat control panel.
• Do not adjust the seat while driving.The seat should be adjusted so thatthe brake pedal can be depressedfully. In addition, position the seat asfar rearward as comfort and controlallow.
• The seat rails on the floor must not beobstructed in any way when the seat isin motion.

Front interior lighting
The lighting in the front part of the passenger compartment is controlled with the buttons inthe ceiling console.

Switch (3) has three positions for all passen- ger compartment lighting:

Overhead courtesy lightingThe passenger compartment lighting is switched on and off automatically when but-ton (3) is in the neutral position. The lighting comes on and remains on for 30 seconds if:
• the vehicle is unlocked from the outside with the key or remote control
• the engine is switched off and the ignitionis in mode
0.
The lighting switches off when:
• the engine is started
• the vehicle is locked from the outside.
The lighting comes on and remains on for two minutes if one of the doors is open. The passenger compartment lighting can be switched on and off manually within30 minutes after the vehicle has beenunlocked. If the lighting is switched on manually and the vehicle is locked, the courtesy lighting willswitch off automatically after one minute.

Glove compartment lightingThe glove compartment lighting switches on/off automatically when the lid is opened/closed.

Approach lighting
Approach lighting activates the parking lights, door mirror lights, license plate lighting, domelighting and door step lighting when youapproach the vehicle. This function is activated by pressing the approach light button on the remote key (see
the illustration in Remote key – functions(p. 143)). The time interval for this lighting can be set by pressing MY CAR and going to

Windshield wipers
Move the lever toward the steering wheel to start the windshield and headlight washers.After the lever is released the wipers makeseveral extra sweeps.

•Use ample washer fluid when washing the windshield. The windshield shouldbe thoroughly wet when the wipers arein operation.

Power windows
All power windows can be operated using the control panel in the driver's door. The controlpanels in the other doors only operate thewindow in the respective doors.

Operating
Operating the power windows
Manual up/down
Auto up/down.
For the power windows to function, the igni- tion must be in at least mode I. When the vehicle has been running, the power windowscan be operated for several minutes after theremote key has been removed from the igni-tion slot, or until a door has been opened.
NOTE
•
Movement of the windows will stop if they are obstructed in any way.
• To reduce buffeting wind noise if therear windows are opened, also openthe front windows slightly.
Manual up/down–Move one of the controls up/down slightly.
> The power windows move up/down as
long as the control is held in position.
Auto up/down–Move one of the controls up/down as far as possible and release it.
> The window will open or close com-pletely.
ResettingIf the battery has been disconnected, the auto open function must be reset so that itwill work properly.
1. Gently raise the front section of the but- ton to close the window and hold it for one second.
2. Release the button briefly.

Power door mirrors
The control on the driver's door is used to adjust the position of the door mirrors.
Door mirror controls
Adjusting1. Press the L button for the left door mirror
or the R button for the right door mirror.
The light in the button comes on.
2. Adjust the position with the joystick in the center.
3. Press the L or R button again. The light
should no longer be on.
WARNING
Objects seen in the mirrors may appear further away than they actually are.
Retractable power door mirrors*The mirrors can be retracted for parking/driv- ing in narrow spaces:
1. Press down the L and R buttons at the
same time.
2. Release them after approximately one second. The mirrors automatically stop in the fully retracted position.
Fold out the mirrors by pressing down the L
and R buttons at the same time. The mirrors
automatically stop in the fully extended posi-tion.
Storing the position*The mirror positions are stored in the keymemory when the vehicle has been lockedwith the remote key. When the vehicle isunlocked with the same remote control themirrors and the driver's seat adopt the storedpositions when the driver's door is opened. The function can be activated/deactivated in MY CAR under

when parking
The door mirrors can tilt down automaticallyto help give the driver a better view along thesides of the vehicle, for example when paral-lel parking. Power moonroof – operation
The moonroof controls are located in the ceil- ing console near the rearview mirror. The moonroof's sun visor opens automatically but has to be closed manually. There is a wind blocker in the moonroof's front edge.

Automatic opening–Pull the switch as far back as possible (to the position for automatic opening) andrelease it to automatically fully slide openthe moonroof.
Manual opening–Pull the switch back to the first stop (the position for manual opening) and hold ituntil the moonroof has opened to theposition of your choice.
Manual closing–Push the switch forward to the first stop (the position for manual closing) and holdit until the moonroof has closed to theposition of your choice, or has closedcompletely.
Automatic closing–Push the switch as far forward as possi- ble (the position for automatic closing)and release it to automatically close themoonroof.
WARNING
•During manual closing, if the moonroof is obstructed, immediately open itagain.
• Never open or close the moonroof if itis obstructed in any way.
• Never allow a child to operate themoonroof.
• Never leave a child alone in a vehicle.
• When leaving the vehicle, ensure thatthe ignition is in mode
0 (see Ignition
modes (p. 73) for information about thevarious ignition modes) to disable themoonroof. Never leave the remote keyin the vehicle.
• Never extend any object or body partthough the open moonroof, even if thevehicle's ignition is completelyswitched off.

Remote key and key blade
Two remote keys are provided with your vehi- cle. They enable you to unlock the doors andtrunk, and also function as ignition keys tostart the vehicle or operate electrical compo-nents. The remote keys contain detachablemetal key blades for manually locking orunlocking the driver's door and the glovecompartment. The visible ends of these keyblades are unique to make it easier to identify"your" remote key. Up to six remotes can beprogrammed for use on the same vehicle.
WARNING
Never leave the remote key in the ignition slot if children are to remain in the vehicle.

Remote key – loss
If either of the remote keys (p. 140) is lost, the other should be taken with the vehicle to aVolvo retailer. As an anti-theft measure, thecode of the lost remote key must be erasedfrom the system.
NOTE
Additional or duplicate remote control keys can be obtained from any authorized Volvoretailer. You can also obtain additional or duplicate remote control keys from certain inde-pendent repair facilities and locksmithsthat are qualified to make remote controlkeys. Locking/unlocking points with valet locking acti- vated
With the valet locking function
activated:
• The vehicle's doors can be locked or unlocked with the remote
• The engine can be started
• The glove compartment cannot beunlocked
• Access to the trunk is blocked (the trunklid cannot be unlocked or opened withthe remote, and the rear seat backrestscannot be lowered
Activating the valet locking function
Insert the key blade in the glove compart- ment lock.
Turn the key blade180 degrees clock- wise.
Remove the key blade from the lock. A message will appear in the instrumentpanel display.
Deactivating the valet locking functionTurn the key blade 180 degrees counter- clockwise in the glove compartment lock todeactivate valet locking. See locking/unlocking the glove compart- ment (p. 155) for information on locking theglove compartment normally, without activat-ing the valet locking function.
Remote key – replacing the battery
The remote key can be opened if the battery needs to be replaced. The battery should be replaced if:
• The information symbol illuminates and
Low battery in remote control. Please change batteries. is shown in the dis-
play and/or
• if the locks do not react after several attempts to unlock or lock the vehicle.
NOTE
The remote key's range is normally approximately 60 ft (20 m) from the vehi-cle.
