Brake fluid replacement:
1. When disassembling the master cylinder or cali-
per, replace the brake fluid. Normally check the
brake fluid level and add fluid as required.
2. On the inner parts of the master cylinder and cal-
iper, replace the oil seals every two years.
3. Replace the brake hoses every four years, or if
cracked or damaged.

1. Après démontage du maître cylindre ou d’un cylindre d’étrier, renouveler le liquide de frein.

2. Renouveler les joints d’étanchéité du maître cylindre et des cylindres d’étrier tous les deux ans.

Engine oil
Engine oil level measurement
1. Place the machine on a level place.
2. Warm up the engine for several minutes and
stop it. Wait at least ten minutes for the oil to
drain back into the crankcase before check-
ing the oil level.NOTE:_ Be sure to wait at least ten minutes until the oil lev-
el settles before checking. _3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it off with a
clean rag. Insert the dipstick in the filler hole
without screwing it in.
4. Remove the dipstick and inspect the oil level.
5. The oil level should be between the maxi-
mum and minimum marks. If the level is low,
add oil to raise it to the proper level.CAUTION:_ Make sure no foreign material enters the
crankcase. _

Engine oil replacement and oil filter element
cleaning
1. Place the machine on a level place.
2. Warm up the engine for several minutes and
stop it.
3. Place a container under the engine.
4. Remove the dipstick and drain bolt to drain
the oil.CAUTION:_ When removing the drain bolt, the compres-
sion spring, oil strainer and O-ring will fall out.
Take care not to lose these parts. _

5. Remove the oil filter cover and oil filter.
6. Clean the oil strainer and oil filter with solvent.
7. Inspect the O-ring and replace if damaged.
8. Install the oil filter, O-ring, and oil filter cover.
9. Replace the oil strainer, compression spring,
O-ring and drain bolt. Then, tighten the drain
bolt and oil filter cover bolts to the specified
torques.CAUTION:_ Before installing the drain bolt, be sure to in-
stall the O-ring, compression spring and oil
strainer. _10. Fill the engine with oil and install the dipstick.Tightening torque:
Drain bolt (engine):
43 Nm (4.3 m·kgf)
Oil filter cover bolt:
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf)

idle speed. Check for oil leakage while warm-

Oil pressure check
1. Put a cloth around the cylinder.
2. Slightly loosen the oil gallery bolt in the cylin-
der head.
3. Start the engine and keep it idling until oil be-
gins to seep from the oil gallery. If no oil
comes out after one minute, turn the engine
off so it will not seize and find the cause.
4. Start the engine and check the oil pressure.
5. After checking, tighten the oil gallery bolt to
the specified torque.CAUTION:_ Be sure to inspect the oil pressure after replac-
ing the engine oil. _

Final gear oil measurement
1. Place the machine on a level place.
2. Remove the oil filler bolt and check the oil lev-
el. It should be up to the brim of the hole. If
the level is low, add oil to raise it to the proper
level.CAUTION:_ Be sure no foreign material enters the final
gear case. _3. Install the oil filler bolt and tighten it to the
specified torque.
Final gear oil replacement
1. Remove the final gear case cover.
2. Place the machine on a level place.
3. Place a container under the final gear case to
collect the used oil. Tightening torque:
