and  your  Wi- Fi dev ice. 
- Hotspot : the  MMI Wi- Fi hotspot  is active  and 
v is ible  to  other  devices.  A connection  can  be  es
tabl ished  with  new  w ire less  devices . 
-Hot spot  and clie nt1l:  the  MM I W i- F i  hotspot  is 
active.  An Internet  connection  to  a  personal 
Wi-Fi  hotspot  (such  as  a  smartphone)  can  be  establ ished . Using

A WARNING ~ 
- As the  driver,  do  not  allow  usage  of  the  Wi-
Fi hotspot  to  distract  you  from  driving,  as 
this  cou ld  increase  the  risk  of  an  accident. 
- It  is  only  safe  to  use  tablets,  laptops,  mo
b ile  dev ices  and  other  similar  devices  when 
the  vehicle  is stationary  because,  like  all  loose  objects,  they  could  be  thrown  around 
the  inside  of  the  vehicle  in  a  crash  and  cause 
serious  injuries . Store  these  types  of  devices 
securely  while  driving. 
- Do not  use  any  wireless  devices  on  the  front  seats  within  range  of  the  airbags  while  dr iv
i n g.  Also  read  the  warnings  in the  chapte r 
~page  236.

-In  vehicles  w ithout  Audi  connect* , the  use 
of  the  W i-F i hotspot  is on ly possible  for  t he 
Wi-Fi  audio  player*.  A data  connect ion  to 
the  Internet  cannot  be  established. 
- A separate,  paid  mob ile  subscr ipt ion  may  be 
needed  to  use  the  Wi -Fi hotspot.  You can 
obtain  more  info rmation  from  your  cell 
phone  serv ice  provider . 
- Depending  on your  cell  phone  plan,  receiv
ing  data  packages  through  the  Wi-Fi  hot
spot  may  result  in  additional  charges,  par
ticu larly  when  in  another  country . The  use 
of  a f lat  rate  data  plan  is  highly  recom
mended . You can  obtain  more  information 
from  your  cell  phone  service  provider .

music  wirelessly  from  your  8/uetooth-capable 
device (such as a cell phone)  through  the MMI. 
Requirement:  the  vehicle m ust  be stationary  and 
the  Bluetooth  function on your  Bluetooth  device 
and the 
Bluetooth  audio player ¢ page 231 in 
the  MMI must  both  be sw itched  on. 
- Connecting a Bluetooth  device: press  the 
!MEDIA ! button.  Press the  left control  button

Using the  Wi-Fi audio player  media  source  on  the 
MMI, you  can connect  and  operate  your  Wi-Fi-ca
pable  media  player  (such  as a smartphone)  to 
wirelessly ploy  music from  your  media player li
brary.  The media  player  is connected  through  the 
vehicle's  Wi -Fi hotspot.  A  UPnP Server opp  or an 
integrated  UPnPIDLNA server  on your  media 
player  is required  to  access your  media  player 
li 
brary. 
Req uirement:  the  W i-Fi function  on  your  media 
p layer  must  be  switched  on.  The

Fi hotspot  when  it  is within  range.

-To avoid interruptions  during  playback,  de
activate  the  power  saving function  on the 
media  player  or  connect  it  to  a charger. 
- The loading  t imes for  the  a udio  data  depend 
on the  med ia p layer used and the  number  of 
files  that  it  conta ins. 
- A maximum  of  2,000  entries  per directory 
are displayed  in the  MMI. 
- Songs down loaded for  offline  use using  mu 
sic streaming  services are stored  on your  mobile  device (such as a smartphone)  and 
may be DRM protected.  The Wi-Fi  audio 
player wil l not  play  DRM protected  files. 
- Contact  your  authorized  Aud i dea ler or  au
thorized  Audi  Service Facility  for  additional 
i nformat ion on the  Wi-Fi  audio  player . 
Online  media
