Memory function
Description
App lies to vehicles: with memory f unction
The memory function allows you to quickly and
eas ily store and recall pe rsonal seating p rofi les
fo r the driver. The memory function is ope rated
th rough the maste r key and the memory bu ttons
in the driver's door .
The driver's seati ng p rofile is stored and assigned
to the master key each t ime the vehicle is locked .
When yo u open the door, the seat profile is auto­
matically recalled. If two people use one vehicle,
i t is recommended that each person always uses
"their own" master key .
Up to 2 seat profi les can be stored in the memory
buttons in the d river's door. Once they are stored,
these seat profiles can be selected at any time .

In addition to the d river 's seat settings, you can
also store and access the exterior mirror adjust­
ment settings* using the remote control key or
memory button.
Remote control key

• Press the ION/O FF I button to switch the memo­
ry function on/off . The word
OFF lights up when
the memory function is switched off. Seat p ro·

Storing a seat profile
• Press the ISET I button. Whe n the word SET
lights up, the memory is ready to store set ­
tings.
• Press a memory button

Accessing a seat profile
• If the driver's door is open and the ignition is
sw itched off, press the memory button .
• If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on, press and hold the memory but­

A WARNING
- For safety reasons, the seat setting can o nly
be recalled when the veh icle is stationary·
otherwise you risk hav ing an accident.
- In an emergency the recall procedure can be
cancelled by pressing the
I O N/OF F! switch o r
by tappi ng the memory buttons.

Closing cupholders
• To close the cupholder, press on the center sec­
tion between the two arms and push the cu­
pholder in the slot as far as it will go.
.&_ WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident and
personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea, in
the vehicle while it is moving. In case of an
accident, sudden braking or other vehicle
movement, hot liquid could spill, causing
scalding burns . Spil led hot liquid can also
cause an accident and personal injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an acci­
dent .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray - risk of fire.
(y Note
Only drink containers with lids should be car­
r ied in the cupholder . Liquid could spill out
and damage your vehicle's electronic equip­
ment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and can
be locked .

Seats and storage
• To close the glove compartment, push the
glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
mechanical key
~ page 33 .
On the right side in the glove compartment is a
holder with the key body into which the emergen­
cy key must be clipped to be able to start the ve­
hicle.
A WARNING
-
To reduce the risk of personal injury in an acci-
dent or sudden stop, always keep the glove
compartment closed while driving.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments and
fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- In the roof headliner above the rearview mirror.
- On the back of the front seat . The compart -
ment can hold a maximum weight of 1 kg.
- On the left and right of the luggage compart­
ment, behind the side trim .
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of the
vehicle.
A WARNING ,..___
- When driving, do not leave any hard objects
on the rear window shelf or allow your pet
to sit on the shelf. They could become a haz­
ard for vehicle occupants in the event of
sudden braking or a crash .
- Always remove objects from the instrument
panel. Any items not stored could slide
around inside the vehicle whi le driving or
when accelerating or when apply ing the
b rakes or when driving around a corner.
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thing you may have placed in the center con­
sole or other storage locations cannot fall
out into the footwells. In case of sudden
braking you would not be able to brake or
accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view .

the backrest is not locked.
A WARNING
- The backrest must always be secure ly latc h­
ed so that the safety belt of the center seat­
ing position can work proper ly to help pro­
tect the occupant.
- The backrest must be securely latched in po­
sition so that no items contained in the lug­
gage compartment can slide forward upon
sudden b rak ing .
- Always check whether the latch is fully en­
gaged by pu lli ng the seatback forward .
- Never a llow safety belts to become dam­
aged by be ing caught i n door or seat hard­
ware.
- Torn or frayed safety be lts can tear and
damaged be lt hardwa re can b reak in a crash .
I nspect the belts periodically. Belts show ing
damage to webbing, bindings, buckles, or
retractors must be re placed.
(D Note
- If you move the front seat back when the
rear seat backrest is folded forward, you
cou ld damage the head res traints on the
rear se at.
- Slide the be lt g uide on the o utside safety
belt all t he way up befo re folding the back­
res t back forw ard. Make sure t he se at belt is
no t pin ched or damaged when the rear seat
backrest if folded back. Other objects
should be removed from the rear seat bench
to protect the seatback from damage.

-You can open the pass-through from the
luggage compartment. Push the release
button down and push the cover forward.
- You can lock or unlock the pass-through us­
ing the mechanical key. This prevents any
access to the luggage compartment from
the vehicle interior.
Securing the ski sack

A WARNING
-The ski sack is intended only for the trans­
portation of skis and other light objects. To
reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
never transport heavy or pointed objects in
the ski sack.
- When braking rapidly or during an accident,
the load could be displaced and cause injury to occupants.
- Sharp edges on the load must be covered
for protection. Always fasten the belt tightly
around the sack and its contents~

-For safety reasons, do not transport more
than two pairs of skis in the ski sack.
- You must secure the ski sack with the strap
after loading.
- Make sure that all objects you are transport­
ing in the pass-through are secured. Other­
wise they could slide around during sudden
braking maneuvers and cause injuries.
(D Tips
- Never stow the ski sack away when it is still
wet or damp (for example, snow melting
from skis). Allow it to dry completely before
stowing it away.
- When transporting skis or snowboards,
tighten the securing strap between the
bindings.
- Position skis in the ski sack with the pointed
ends facing the front and ski poles with the
pointed ends facing the rear.
- You can lock or unlock the pass-through us­
ing the mechanical key. This prevents any
access to the luggage compartment from
the vehicle interior.
Parcel shelf
The parcel shelf behind the rear seatback can be
used to carry light items of clothing.
A WARNING
No heavy or hard objects should be placed on
the parcel shelf. They are a hazard to the vehi­
cle occupants during sudden braking. The is a risk of injury.

Warm and cold
Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the air in the vehicle interior. It
is the most effective when the windows and sun­
roof are closed. If there is a build-up of heat in­
side the vehicle , ventilation can help to speed up
the cooling process.
In all heating mode functions except
defrost, the
blower only switches to a higher speed once the
engine coolant has reached a certain tempera­
ture.
Condensation from the cooling system can drip
and form a puddle of water under the vehicle.
This is normal and does not mean there is a leak.
Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at the
intervals specified in your Warranty & Mainte­
nance booklet, so that the air conditioner can
properly work.
If you drive your vehicle in an area with high air pollution , the filter may need to be changed
more frequently than specified in your Audi War­
ranty
& Maintenance booklet. If in doubt, ask
your authorized Audi Service Advisor for advice.
Key coded settings
The climate control settings are automatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .
.8, WARNING
Reduced visibility is dangerous and can cause
accidents.
- For safe driving it is very important that all
windows be free of ice, snow and condensa­
tion.

- Completely familiarize yourself with the
proper use and function of the heating and
ventilation system and especially how to de­
fog and defrost the windows .
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer sys­
tem in freezing weather until you have
warmed the windshield first, using the heat­
ing and ventilation system . The washer solu­
tion may freeze on the windshield and re­
duce visibility .
(D Note
-If you suspect that the air conditioner has
been damaged, switch the system off to
avoid further damage and have it inspected
by a qualified dealership.
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner require
special technical knowledge and special
tools. Contact an authorized Audi dealer for
assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reducing the amount of fuel you use, you
also reduce the amount of pollutants emitted
into the air.
(D Tips
-Keep the air intake slots (in front of the
windshield) free from ice, snow and debris
in order to maintain the proper function of
the climate control system.
- The energy management system may switch
the seat heating* or rear window defroster
off temporarily. These systems are available
again as soon as the energy balance has
been restored.
- Air escapes through vents under the rear
window. When placing items of clothing on
the luggage compartment cover, ensure
that the openings are not covered.

Manually adjustable steering wheel
The steering wheel position is fully adjustable up
and down and forward and back .

There must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) be­
tween your chest and the cente r of the steering
wheel.
If you ca nnot sit mo re than 10 i nch es (25
cm) from the steering wheel, see if adaptive
eq uipment is available to help you reach the ped­
als and increase the distance from the steering
wheel.

A WARNING
Improper use of steering wheel adjustment
and improper seating position can cause seri­
ous pe rsonal injury .
- Adjust the steering wheel column on ly when
the vehicle is not moving t o prevent loss of
vehicle control.
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel so
that there is a minim um of 10 inches (25
cm) between your chest and the steering
wheel
¢page 113, fig. 1 19 . If you cannot

maintain t his minimum distance, the airbag
system cannot p rotect you properly.
- If physical limitations prevent you from sit­
ting 10 inches (25 cm) or more from the
steer ing whee l, check with your authorized
Audi dea ler to see if adaptive equipment is
availab le.
- If the steer ing whee l is aligned with your
face, the supplementa l driver 's a irbag can­
not prov ide as much p rotection in a n acci­
dent. Always make su re that the steering
wheel is alig ned with your chest.
- Always hold the steer ing wheel w ith your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
tions to reduce the ris k of persona l injury if
the dr iver's air bag dep loys.
- N ever hold the stee ring wheel at the 12
o'cloc k position o r with your hand s inside
the steering wheel rim or on t he steering
wheel hub . Holding the steeri ng whee l the
wrong way can cause serious injuries to the
hands, arms and head if the driver's airbag
deploys.

brake pedal (for a utomatic transmissions).
~ To switch the ignition off, press the key again.
When star ting the engine, m ajor electr ic al loads
a re switched off temporar ily .
You can on ly remove the key w ith the ignition
switched off.
If the engine should not start immediately, the
start ing p rocess is a utomat ica lly stopped after a
short time. Repeat sta rting procedure.

t io n loo k while the vehicle is moving . Ot her­
wise, the stee ring lock cou ld suddenly en­

cou ld be started or elect rical equipment
such as the power windows co uld be operat­
ed. This can lead to ser ious injury.
- Never leave ch ildren or persons requiring as­
sistance unattended in the vehicle. The
doo rs ca n be locked using the remote trans­
mitter, preventi ng people from escap ing
from the vehicle o n their own in the event of
an eme rgency . Dependi ng on the t im e of
year, people inside the vehicle ca n be ex­
posed to very h igh o r ve ry low tempe ra­
t ur es .

engine loads unti l the engine has reached op­

-After starting a cold engine, there may be a
br ief per iod of increased noise because the
oil pressure must first build up in the hy­
draulic valve adjus te rs. This is no rma l and
not a cause fo r concern .
- If you leave the veh icle with the ignition
sw itched on, the ig nitio n w ill switch off af­
ter a ce rtai n period of time. Please note that
elec trical eq uipment such as e xterior light s
w ill swi tch off as well when tha t happens.

Starting the vehicle with the emergency
key

You can use the emergency key as an ignition key
in an emergency.

Steering lock
The steering locks when you remove the ignition
key. The locked steering he lps prevent vehicle
theft.
Emergency off
If it is necessary in unusual circumstances, the
engine can be switched off while the vehicle is
moving. The engine will be switched off if you
press on the key for an extended period.
A WARNING
- Never turn off the engine before the vehicle
has come to a complete stop. The full func­
tion of the brake booster and the power
steering is not guaranteed. You must use
more force to turn or brake if necessary . Be ­
cause you cannot steer and brake as you
usually would, this could lead to crashes
and serious injuries.
- For safety reasons, you should always park
your vehicle with the selector lever in P . Oth­
erw ise, the vehicle could inadvertently roll
away.
- The radiator fan can continue to run for up
to 10 minutes even after you have turned off the engine and removed the ignition key .
The radiator fan can also turn on again if the
engine coolant heats up because of intense
sunlight or heat build-up in the engine com­
partment.
- Always take the key with you whenever you
leave your vehicle. Otherwise, the engine
could be started or electrical equipment
such as the power windows could be operat­
ed. This can lead to serious injury .
- Never leave children or persons requiring as­
sistance unattended in the vehicle. The
doors can be locked using the remote trans­
mitter, preventing people from escaping
from the vehicle on the ir own in the event of
an emergency. Depending on the time of
year, people inside the vehicle can be ex ­
posed to very high or
very low tempera-

CD Note
If the engine has been under heavy load for
an extended period, heat builds up in the en­
gine compartment after the engine is switch­
ed off -there is a risk of damaging the engine .
Allow the engine to run at idle for about two
minutes before switching it off.

ignition on and starts the engine.

Starting the engine

• Press the

out pressing the clutch pedal (for manual
transmissions) or the brake pedal (for automat­
ic transmissions) .
• To switch the ignition off, press the button
again.
Driving
If the engine should not start immediately, the
starting process is automatically stopped after a
short time. Repeat starting procedure.
When starting the engine, major elect rical loads
are switched off temporarily .
After a cold engine is started, there may be a
brief period of increased noise because oil pres­
sure must fi rst bui ld up in the hydraulic valve ad­
justers. This is normal and not a cause for con ­
cern.
