In the MMI display, the d irection of t ravel
of the vehicle rea r is represented depend­
ing on the steering wheel angle. The vehi­
cle front sw ings out more than the ve hicle
rear. Maintain plenty of distance from an
obstacle so that your o utside mirror or a
corne r of your veh icle does not co llide with
any obs ta cl es -danger of ac cident!
@ Tips
The left or right orientation li nes and sur­
faces wi ll be displayed, depending on the
t urn sig na l being used.
Adjusting the display and warning tones
A ppl ies to vehicles: with pa rk in g system (rear, with rea r
view ca mera )
The display and warning tones are adjusted in
the radio or MM!*.

Warning tones
- Rear volume -
rear sensor volume

-Music volum e while parking -when the
park ing system is switched on, the volume
of the act ive a udio source is lowered.
The new ly adjusted value is briefly heard from
the signal gene rator. The sett ings a re auto­
mat ica lly stored and assigned to the remote
con trol key.
_& WARNING
- Alw ays m ake su re th at the volume and
freq uency of the warning tones is adjus t-
-
ed so that you can easily hear the acous­
tic d istance signa l even if the radio is
playing, the air-cond it ioner blower is on
Hi gh or there is a hig h level of outside
noise.
- Check the settings w henever someone
else has driven the vehicle before you.

- The warn ing tones can also be adjusted
directly from the rear view camera im­
age. Simply press the Settings* contro l
butto n.

Error messages
App lies to vehicles: wit h parking system (rear, wit h rear
v iew camera)
If a warning tone is aud ible for about five sec­
onds when you turn on the ignition, there is a
malfunction in the system . Have the problem
cor rected by your author ized Audi dealer.
Keep the senso rs in the rear bumpe r clean and
free from ice so that the acoustic park assist
system can function properly.

Trailer towing Driving with a trailer
General information
Your Audi was designed primarily for passen­
ger transportation .
If you plan to tow a tra iler, p lease remember
that the addit ional load will affect durab ility,
economy and performance .
T railer towing not on ly places more stress on
the vehicle, it also calls for more concentra­
tion from the driver.
F or this reason, a lways fo llow the operating
and driving instructions provided and use
common sense.
Technical requirements
Traile r hitch
Use a weight-carrying hitch conforming to the
gross trailer we ight. The hitch must be suita­
b le for your veh icle and trailer and must be
mounted secure ly on t he veh icle's chassis at a
technically sound location . Use only a t railer
h itch w ith a removab le ball moun t. A lways
check with the tr ailer hitch man ufac tur er to
make sure that you are using the correct
hitch.
Do not use a bumper hitch.
T he hitc h must be installed in such a way that
it does not inte rfe re with the impac t-absorb­
i ng b umper syst em. No modifica tions should
be made to the vehicle exhaus t and b rake sys­
tems . From t ime to time, check that a ll hitch
mo unt ing bolt s remain securely fas tened.
W hen you are not tow ing a trailer, remove the
trai le r hi tch ball moun t. T h is prevents the
hi tch from causing damage sho uld your ve hi­
cle be str uck from be hind

Trailer brakes
If yo ur tra iler is equ ipped w it h a braking sys­
tem, check to be su re that it conforms to a ll

If you a re unable to see the traffic behind you
u sing the regula r outside m irrors, then you
must insta ll ext ended mir ro rs. It is important

class 1 or class 2 tra iler.
Trailer load distribution
B e sure the lo ad in the tra iler is h eld secure ly
i n p lace to p reven t it from shifting fo rward,
backward or sideways.
Never allow a passenger to ride in a trailer

Engine cooling system
T owing a t railer ma kes t he engine wor k hard ­
er . It is impo rta nt that the cooling system's
perfo rman ce is up to the additional load.

204 Cleaning and protec tio n
If a spot starts to rust, however, a simple
touch-up job will not be enough . The affected
surface must be sanded smooth and coated
with an anti-rust pr imer before the pa inted
f inish can be restored.

Windows
Clear vision to all sides.
C lean a ll windows regularly to remove road
fi lm and car wash wax b uildup.
"' Remove snow from windows using a brush.
"' Use a plast ic ice scraper to remove ice from
windows and mirrors .
"' Remove other residue on the windows with
a spray •on glass cl eaner .
"' Wipe the windows dry with a clean p iece of
cloth or kitchen paper towel.
The best way to remove snow from windows
and mirrors is to use a brush . Use a non-abra­
sive
pla stic ice sc raper -better still, a spray
de icer -to remove
ic e from windows and mir­
rors .
The windows must not be cleaned with insect remover or wax s ince these can interfere with
the function of the windshield wiper blades (chatter) .
O il, grease, or silicone residue can be removed
with
g lass clea ner or silicone remo ver . How­
ever, wax residue requires the use of a special­ ly formulated solvent . Please contact your au ­
thor ized Audi dealer for adv ice on safe prod­
ucts for wax removal.
W indows should also be cleaned on the inside
at regular intervals .
Never dry w indows with the same chamois
that you use to dry painted surfaces . Wax resi- due on the chamois can impai
r vision through
the windows.

-The windshield must not be treated with
water-repellent materials. They can in­
crease glare under poor v is ibility condi­
tions such as wetness, darkness, or when
the sun is low on the hor izon. In addi­
tion, they can cause the w indshield w ip­
ers to chatter.
(D Note
- Never use warm or hot water to remove
snow and ice from windows and mirrors .
Th is could cause the glass to crack .
- To prevent damage to the wires of the
rear defogger, do not place any adhesive
st ickers on the ins ide of the rear window
over the wires .
- To help prevent dirt from scratching the
window, always sc rape in a forward di ­
rection -pushing the sc raper away from
yo u -never bac k and fort h.
- Wate r lea king from the ins ide of the rear
w indows may damage sens it ive elec trical
components located ei ther under the
rear parcel shelf or in the rear trunk area .
Always ensure that water never leaks
through the body section of the vehicle.
You can do this by using waterproof pro­
tection over the vehicle's electrical com­
ponents (e .g. when installing window
tinting) .
- Damage or malfunction of electrical
components due to water damage or any
other outside infl uence is not covered by
the Audi New Veh icle Limited Warranty.
