The coolant leve l is monitored through the. in­
dicator light
c::> poge 14. However, we do recom­
mend occasionally check ing the coo lant level
manually.
If you m ust add coolant, use a m ixture o f water
and coolant additive . M ixing the coolant additive
w ith d istilled water is recommended.
Coolant additive
The coolan t addi tive is made of ant i-freez ing and
corrosion protection agents. Only use the fo llow­
i n g coo lant additives . These additives may be
mixed wit h each other .

The amount of coo lant add itive that needs to be
mixed with water depends on the climate where
the veh icle will be ope rated. If the coolant addi­
tive percentage is too low, the cool ant can freeze
and damage the engine.

whe n driving in co lder climates .
-If the approp ria te coolant addi tive is no t
available in an emergency, do no t ad d any
other additive. You co uld damage the en­
gine. If this happens, only use wate r and re­
store the correct mixture ratio with the
spec ified coolant additive as soon as possi­
ble.
- Only refill with new coo lant .
- Radiator sealant must not be mixed with
the coo lant .

and have the cooling system inspected. If the
cooling system is not leak ing, a loss can come
from the coolant boiling through overheat ing
and being pushed out of the cooling system.

"' Clamp the charger terminal clamps to the jump
start pins according to the instruct ions. (pin un ­
der the red cover = "positive", pin with hexago ­
nal head = "negative").
"' Insert the power cable for the charging device
into the socket and switch the device on .
"' At the end of the charging process, switch the
charge r off and pull the power cab le out of the
socket.
"' Remove the c ha rge r termi nal clamps.
"' Close the red cover on the posi tive te rm inal.

A WARNING
- A highly explosive mixture of gases can form
when charging batter ies. On ly charge the
vehicle battery in well-vent ilated areas.
- A drained battery can freeze at tempera­
tures a round 32 °F (0 °C). A frozen or
thawed veh icle battery must not be charged
and must not be used anymore . The batte ry
hous ing can crac k an d battery acid can leak
o ut if ice fo rms, wh ic h increases the r is k of
an exp losion and ch emical burns. Contact an
authoriz e d Au di dea ler o r aut ho riz e d Aud i
Service Facility for mo re inform ation .

To reduce the risk of lime scale deposits on the
spray no zzles, use clean water with low amo unts
of calcium. Always add window cleaner to the wa­
ter. When the ou tside temperatures are cold , an
anti -freezing agent shou ld be added to the water
so tha t it does not freeze .

-The concentration of ant i-freez ing agent
must be adjusted to the ve hicle operat ing
condi tions i n the respective cl imate . A con­
c entration that is too h igh can lead to vehi­
cl e damage.
- N ever add radia to r anti-free ze or other addi­
t ives to the washer fluid.
- Do not use a glass cleaner t hat contains
pai nt so lvents, because th is could damage
t h e pain t.
Service interval display
The service in terval display detects when your ve­
hicle is due for service.
The serv ice interval d isplay wo rks in two stages:
-Inspection or oil change rem inder: afte r a cer-

Resetting the indicator
Your author ized Audi dealer or author ized A udi
Service Faci lity will reset the service interval dis­
p lay after pe rforming service.

General information
.,. Check your tires regularly for
damage (punctures, cuts, cracks
and bulges). Remove foreign ob ­
jects from the tire tread.
.,. If driving over curbs or similar
obstacles, drive slowly and ap­ proach the curb at an angle.
.,.Have faulty tires or rims re­
placed immediately.
.,.Protect your tires from oil,
grease and fuel.
.,.Mark tires before removing
them so that the same running
direction can be maintained if
they are reinstalled .
.,. Lay tires flat when storing and
store them in a cool, dry location
with as little exposure to light as
possible.

-Please note that summer and
winter tires are designed for
the conditions that are typical in those seasons . Audi recom­
mends using winter tires dur­
ing the winter months . Low
temperatures significantly de­ crease the elasticity of summ­
er tires, which affects traction

and b raking ability. If summer
tires are used in very cold
temperatures, cracks can form
on the tread bars, resulting in permanent tire damage that
can cause loud driving noise
and unbalanced tires.
-Burnished, polished or chromed rims must not be used in winter driving condi­
tions. The surface of the rims
does not have sufficient corro­
sion protection for this and
could be permanently dam­
aged by road salt or similar
substances.

could cause t he veh icle to tilt o r fall from

dist ribution and balance . This might hap­
pen, fo r example, when heavy compo­
n en ts such as the eng ine block o r tran s­
mis sio n a re re moved .

-The vehicle should never be lifted or
jacked up from underneath the engine oil
pan, the transmission housing, the front
or rear axle or the body side members.
This could lead to serious damage .
- To avoid damage to the underbody or
chassis frame, a rubber pad must be in­
serted between the floor jack and the lift

-Changing the engine settings will adversely
affect emission levels. This is detrimental to
the environment and increases fuel con­
sumption.
-Always observe environmental regulations when disposing of old engine oil, used brake
fluid, dirty engine coolant, spent batteries
or worn out tires.
- Undeployed airbag modules and pretension­
ers might be classified as Perchlorate Mate­
rial -special handling may apply, see
www .dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlo­
rate. When the vehicle or parts of the re­
straint system including airbag modules
safety belts with pretensioners are scrap­
ped, all applicable laws and regulations
must be observed. Your authorized Audi
dealer is familiar with these requirements
and we recommend that you have your deal­ er perform this service for you.

Additional accessories and parts replacement
Always consult on authorized Audi dealer before
purchasing accessories.
Your vehicle incorporates the latest safety design
features ensuring a high standard of active and passive safety.
This safety could be compromised by non-ap­ proved changes to the vehicle. For this reason, if
parts have to be replaced, please observe the fol­
lowing points when installing additional accesso­
ries:
Approved Audi accessories and genuine Audi parts are available from authorized Audi dealers.
These dealers also have the necessary facilities, tools and trained specialists to install the parts
and accessories properly .
Consumer information
A WARNING
Using the wrong spare parts or using non-ap­
proved accessories can cause damage to the
vehicle and serious personal injury.
- Use only accessories expressly approved by
Audi and genuine Audi spare parts
- These parts and accessories have been spe­
cially designed to be used on your vehicle.
- Do not use license plate brackets in the
front area that are different from the one
installed at the factory, or add additional li­
cense plate brackets.
- Never install accessories such as telephone
cradles or beverage holders on airbag covers
or within the airbag deployment zones. Do­
ing so will increase the risk of injury if air­
bags are triggered in an accident!
- Before you check anything in the engine
compartment, always read and heed all
WARNINGS Qpoge 198.

-If items other than genuine Audi spare
parts, add-on equipment and accessory
items are used or if repair work is not per­
formed according to specified methods, this
can result in severe damage to your vehi­
cle's engine and body (such as corrosion)
